Your input is valuable! Please add to the list, because it is what we
make it. If possible, identify a title with the release date (or at
least some person such as an actor or director) and version (such as
Director's Cut). This information helps to avoid confusion about
which version of "Dracula" we're talking about (there are often more
versions than you know). The studio it came from is also valuable
info, as some studios' releases are more likely to work than others,
and some movies see DVD release through more than one studio. If the
DVD doesn't work, describe how it fails, specifically whether it
fails to boot up or gets to the PS2 DVD menu but won't play (failing
to boot may be because the trick wasn't done right). Mail your

5: How do I play DVDs? How do I know if a DVD works?
First, you must know whether you have version "1.00" of "DVD Player";
press the "triangle" button in the PS2 startup menu to see. Second,
you must know if you have the first PS2 series, SCPH 10000; check the
back of the console to see.
Version 1.00:
Press and hold "Up" on the D-pad as soon as you select the DVD from
the browser menu, and continue to hold up until the disc plays or you
see the PS2 DVD menu. You may need to do this a few times and the
original digital (not DualShock) controllers seem to be the most
reliable. You may also have luck pressing and holding "Up" while
booting the machine. You should at least be able to get to the PS2
DVD menu as most DVDs that won't work will still allow you to get
this far, and getting this far insures that you've done the trick
properly. Often multiple attempts are necessary to get the DVD to
boot, and trying an original controller may be the ticket if problems
persist. You may also have luck pressing in and holding the left
stick (L3) of a DualShock2, instead of up on the D-pad. If you get to
the menu and the DVD won't play, to the best of my knowledge, it never
will.
Version 1.01:
There have been a few proposed tricks (holding down various
combinations of square, circle, and triangle), but the persisting
report is that they do not work.
