This FAQ shows how you can alter the files in the WheelOfTime/System folder
to enhance your WoT experience. All of the information was gathered by Jack
Smith and all credit goes to him.
If you have any problems trying anything on this guide I recommend emailing
him at wotscreenshots@yahoo.com. If you have any additional information to
add to the guide email me at alexturvey@lifebylifelevelbylevel.com.
Feel free to do what you want with this document, I don't mind at all.

In this guide I will list what you can change by altering the file, then show
the original file and then an example of how to alter it. To alter a file
open the file in a text editor (i.e. Notepad) make your changes then save the
file.
NOTE: sometimes I've formatted the text from the file so it is on multiple
lines (instead of one long line like it is in Notepad). When you actually
come to edit the file make sure you leave the formatting exactly as it was,
i.e. if it's all on one line, leave it all on one line.
WARNING: before you alter a file make sure you make a backup copy, so if
something goes wrong you can replace it, otherwise you'll have to completely
reinstall the game (and that's a really fun way to spend 20 minutes). I have
to stress that we won't take responsibility for any problems you might have
from altering these files. If you screw up, it's your fault :).
By altering this file you can change the following things:
-The names of Ter'angreal.
-The description of the Ter'angreal (comes up when F2 is pressed in game).
-The quote for the Ter'angreal (comes up when F2 is pressed in game).
-The message on screen when you pick up the Ter'angreal.
Original:
[AngrealInvDisguise]
Title=Disguise
Description=As long as you continue to activate the artifact, Disguise cloaks
you with the image of the nearest creature or person.
Quote=His skin tingled slightly as she channeled, and for an instant her image
changed. Her skin became coppery but dull, her hair and eyes dark but flat.
PickupMessage=You got the Disguise ter'angreal
Example:
[AngrealInvDisguise]
Title=Sneaky Sneak
Description=This let's you look like the nearest enemy. Sneaky or what?
Quote=Elayne and Nynaeve are pretty sneaky. (Lord of Chaos p268)
PickupMessage=You've got the power of sneakiness
Here I've changed the name of the Disguise Ter'angreal to Sneaky sneak. I've
also changed the description and quote you get from pressing F2, and I've also
changed what it prints on the screen when you pick up one of these
Ter'angreal.
There are multiple WoT files, so make sure you get the right file.
By altering this file you can change the following things:
-The level objectives/description.
Original:
[MissionObjectives01]
Title=Bank of the Manetherendrelle
Content[0]=%f=2
Content[1]=%s=8
Content[2]=%c=0
Content[3]= @Tar Valon gold convinced a sailor to take me down the
Manetherendrelle, but drawing nearer to Shadar Logoth made
him increasingly nervous. He finally left me off, saying
that this is the closest he'd come to the cursed city.
Content[4]= @The assassin has already been here. He and his Trollocs
left a swath of destruction in their wake; others from the
Tower are bound to find it. The Trollocs' latest victims
appear to be a caravan of peace-sworn Tinkers, but I'm too
late to help them. I must try to overtake the assassin
before we near the city. What's inside scares even the
shadowsworn.@
Content[5]=%d=2
Content[6]=%f=3
Content[7]=%c=0
Content[8]=%b Try to track down the assassin before he can reach Shadar
Logoth.
Content[9]=%s=4
Content[10]=%b In doing so, learn to use your ter'angreal to defend yourself
against his protectors, the Trollocs.
Content[11]=%s=4
Content[12]=%b Research what you carry by selecting an artifact and then
pressing the F2 key.
Content[13]=%s=4
Content[14]=%b Gather any ter'angreal you can find among the remains of the
Tinkers' wagons; some caravans are suspected to carry such
ancient artifacts.
Example:
[MissionObjectives01]
Title=Bank of the Manetherendrelle
Content[0]=%f=2
Content[1]=%s=8
Content[2]=%c=0
Content[3]= @The Hound has stolen my favourite pencil and he used it
to graffiti on the walls of the White Tower. The Amyrlin
Seat has told me to get my pencil back and give the Hound
a good spanking.
Content[4]= @I've followed the Hound down river in a boat. I assume he
came this way because he's got a lot of family in this
area who will give him refuge. The Hound has about 20
cousins, but I think they're a bit in-bred because they
have the ugliest faces I've ever seen, they almost look
like they have animal faces.@
Content[5]=%d=2
Content[6]=%f=3
Content[7]=%c=0
Content[8]=%b Try to track down the Hound and get the pencil back before
he escapes into the haunted city.
Content[9]=%s=4
Content[10]=%b In doing so, learn to use Ter'angreal to defend yourself
against his cousins.
Content[11]=%s=4
Content[12]=%b Research what they do by selecting an artifact and then
pressing the F2 key.
Content[13]=%s=4
Content[14]=%b Gather any ter'angreal scattered in the trailers the Hound's
cousins live in.
This one's pretty straight forward. I just replaced the text with my own.
There's also a WoTPawns.int, so make sure you get the right file.
By altering this file you can change the following things:
-The type of Ter'angreal that enemies carry.
-The amount of time the enemy takes between each Ter'angreal usage.
-Which Ter'angreal from their inventory the enemy is going to use more often.
-The enemy's health.
So here I've given the Sister two extra Ter'angreal, Balefire and Disguise.
The names of the Ter'angreal are the same as if you were summoning them
with the SUMMON cheat (see Cheats and Glitches).
AII_Priority[#]=# sets which Ter'angreal the Sister is more likely to use.
The higher the priority the more often they will use that Ter'angreal. This
Sister will favour Disguise and Shift. Other factors in the game also affect
this, so they may end up using Ter'angreal with low priority if it fits the
situation. I've also halved the Usage Interval for offensive and defensive
Ter'angreal, so the Sister can use them faster. Finally I increased her
health to a crazy amount.
By altering this file you can change the following things:
-When you, the Hound or any other enemy speak or make a sound subtitles appear
on the top middle of the screen.
NOTE: For the subtitles to appear they must be enabled in User.ini (default is
off). See User.ini section below for turning on subtitles (3rd example).
By altering this file you can change the following things:
-The player settings.
-The order the Ter'angreal are arranged along the bottom of the screen.
-Add functionality to previously unused keys, make shortcut keys.
-The size of your crosshair and your mouse sensitivity.
-The name of your saved games.
-Turn on subtitles (as long as you have altered WoTsubtitles.int, otherwise
no subtitles will be shown).
Example:
[DefaultPlayer]
Name=Viewtiful Joe
Class=WOTPawns.Forsaken
Team=1
Skin=ForsakenSkins.For_Black
Here I've changed the username that is used in online play. I've also changed
my character to the Forsaken skin (the black one). And I've changed my team
to 1. All of this can be done in game quite easily though, so this isn't that
useful.
Here I've changed Space so I can use it for shooting instead of jumping. I've
I've assigned cheats to the four arrow keys and to Insert, Delete and B.
There's a lot more keys than this listed in the User.ini, but I'm sure you get
the idea.

Here I've turned off the crosshair by setting it to None and I've changed the
names of my save files. I've also changed it so the first set of Ter'angreal
I access in game (by pressing 1) also include the Fireworks, Heal, and Legion
Seekers Ter'angreal. When changing this [0] to [9] is the first set (Hand 1)
[10] to [19] is the second set (Hand 2), and so on. I've also enabled
subtitles.
Here I've changed the mouse sensitivity. And that's all for User.ini
However you can do most of these things much easier and faster by using THUMB.
THUMB (Ter'angreal Hand Utility Modifier and Builder) is a utility created by
one of the guys who made the game. It lets you customise how your ter'angreal
are organised, i.e. you can assign Fireball and Seeker to the same key. It
also allows for a few extra cheats (see Cheats and Glitches). You can
download THUMB here:
