Revision History
Final - Big changes this time and also the final changes. I'm pretty sure
this now contains all the information in the game. I'm also pretty sure
that the vast majority of the people that read this can understand
everything with no additional help. I've written answers to every question
I've received more than one e-mail about. Special thanks to Smoothwind,
XENOLadybug, and KANE for the final bits of information I'm putting in.
With that said I would just like to ask anybody that feels the need to
e-mail me your question to PLEASE look for the answer inside the detailed
walkthrough or the Item Location FAQ first. 90% of all the e-mail I get
for KF:TAC is asking a question that I've already answered. Sometimes it's
even a question in the CSP/General FAQ. I don't mind answering questions
if you're really stuck, but it can take awhile to get a response from me
and anything you should ever want to know can be found on GameFAQs.

1.4 - Another FAQ questions added, new final boss strategy (thanks KazanMC!)
1.3 - Added the location of a magic crystal (thanks to aeon009!)
1.2 - Added a few websites that asked to also host the walkthrough
1.1 - Added the Hand Axe location (thanks, Novakaiser!)

Introduction:

I actually intend for this to be three documents in one. It is a Common
Stuck Point (CSP) and General FAQ, a LITE Walkthrough, and a fully
detailed walkthrough. I do not wish to include spoilers of any kind,
but I DO wish to provide a walkthrough for those of you who have
already gone through the game one time and want to use a walkthrough
the second time to make sure you get everything. This is my reason for
including the three different walkthroughs.

If this is your first time through the game, use the CSP FAQ to give
you a boost when you need it. If this is your second time, you will
find the LITE walkthrough very helpful and small enough to print out.
If you're really, REALLY stuck and you simply cannot figure out what
you need to do next or where a particular item is, use the detailed
walkthrough for step-by-step instructions on where to go and what to
get.

Also note that, even in the detailed walkthrough, sometimes I will
simply tell you to explore. Usually this is in a very small area or a
very easy to navigate area and what order to go to the various points
in isn't really important. In these cases I will tell you exactly what
you are looking for when you explore.

Another point of interest is that I have not included everything in
this walkthrough. All the important things I have tried to include (if
I'm missing any, let me know!) and anything that you only find a few of
in the entire game I have tried to include (though I have missed a few
things, i.e. the Hand Axe I somehow instantly forgot where I picked it
up and I know I forgot a keystone somewhere). Things like herbs, herbal
liquid, forest root, etc. I do not mention and if an entire area
includes nothing but those items, I do not tell you to explore that
area. It is for this reason, and for your own enjoyment, that I
strongly encourage you to play the game on your own and ONLY use the
walkthrough when you REALLY need it!

/rant on

A final note about this specific walkthrough is that it is a
walkthrough only! I do NOT mention monsters you'll be fighting (except
bosses), I do NOT warn you about most traps in the game, and in no way
do I ever try to prevent you from dying! Death is part of King's Field.
The first time you fall in lava (veterans know what I'm talking about)
shouldn't make you curse, it should bring a smile to your face! I
smiled and thought to myself why I love these games. From Software does
a GREAT job getting you IN the game and making you feel like you are
the valiant warrior adventuring forth into these perilous dungeons.
With no fear of death, you are no longer a valiant warrior but instead
you're playing a Final Fantasy game where you just walk from point A to
point B and enjoy watching your graphically intense character walk
around the screen. I will tell you this: SESO (Save Early Save Often!).
I will not remind you to save. If you come to the realization that
you've just done something that you can't withstand having to do over
again, go to the nearest save point (no matter how far it is) and SAVE!
KF:TAC isn't as bad as other King's Field games in this respect, but
death still can lurk around ANY corner (as can poison, darkness, curse,
silence, MUMMIES!!, etc). I will never tell you to do something that
will get you killed, but I'm not going to warn you against it either.
You will enjoy the game more when you allow the music, the graphics,
and the gameplay to draw you in and make you feel like you ARE the main
character. If I gave away all the surprises in the game, you wouldn't
feel like that anymore. You wouldn't even need to play the game, you
could just read the walkthrough and experience it that way!

/rant off

Please, if anybody reading this walkthrough finds it on ANY website (besides
the websites listed below), let me know as soon as you can! I worked hard to
gather the information for this walkthrough and write it up and all I ask is
that I be contacted before my work is posted on another website. If you find
this walkthrough on a website not listed below, I have not been asked. Please
help me protect my work! These are the following sites that have permission
to host my walkthrough:

GameFAQs (which will ALWAYS have the most updated version)
Gamespot
Cheat Code Central
Neoseeker
PSXCodez

Lastly, if anything in this walkthrough is found to be inaccurate,
PLEASE e-mail me! If you find my writing style difficult to read or
otherwise have problems with this walkthrough, please e-mail me, as
this is the first walkthrough I have ever written. Enjoy!

Common Stuck Point (CSP) and General FAQ

Q: Help! Where do I find ___?
A: Please check my Item Location FAQ

Q: I've gone everywhere that I can, where do I go next?
A: The LITE Walkthrough is probably the best place to find your answer.

Q: I'm missing the ___ key, where do I find it?
A: Please check my Item Location FAQ

Q: The keystone looks like it would lower the bridge, but when I try
and use it on the pedestal to the right of the bridge I get a "Nothing
Happens" message. Is this the right keystone?
A: All keystones work for all pedestals. This game is very picky about
use of items. Try using it again from a different angle and it should
work.

Q: What do I do with the icon of healing?
A: Place it on the altar of healing in the room where you fought the
giant spider. You might have to try it from different angles a few
(anywhere from 10 to 372) times to get it to work. This one really
doesn't like being placed.

Q: Where is the second life rock/widda egg/release stone?
A: Please check my Item Location FAQ

Q: I killed the fat blob monster in the fire cavern, now what?
A: The refinery is now thawed – a little too thawed – go check it out

Q: I keep dying in the area with the 4-armed knights, how do I get past
it?
A: It helps to shoot the 4-armed knights with arrows/bolts. Aim for the
head (all creatures take more damage when hit in the head). There is a
spot you can stand where the knights will continually try to physically
attack you, but you are just out of their reach (stand in the doorway),
standing there is a good idea. If all else fails, do it later. You
don't need to do this until you get Serrak's Key anyway.

Q: I beat 2 of the 4-armed knights, where do I go now?
A: when you exit the room with the second 4-armed knight, drop off the
ledge to the left.

Q: I got to the end of the passage of light, now I can't get back!
Where do I go?
A: Look for the King's Key on the ground next to the skeleton.

Q: The dwarf told me he would go back to his quarters, where are those?
A: It's in the Earth Folk Area, where you found the Frostbite sword. Go
up the hill as if you were going to head to the refinery and stop at
the top of the hill. Now turn left and go up a little ramp. He's in
there.

Q: What do I do with the second strange egg (a.k.a. widda egg) I found?
A: Give it to the man who won't let you into the room where you got the
icon of fire. He gives you a crystal vial.

Q: What do I do with the second rock of life I got?
A: Go upstairs in the temple with the healing spring outside and trade
it to Chad for a crystal vial.

Q: Where can I find the wavecrasher?
A: Please check my Item Location FAQ.

Q: Where is the second release rock?
A: Please check my Item Location FAQ.

Q: I tried using arrows on the 4-armed knights, but the wyverns keep
shooting fireballs at me. Is there any other way?
A: Yes. Wait. By the time you actually NEED to go through the passage
of light you can easily walk up to each knight and thwack them with
your favorite sword, healing when they manage to damage you enough that
you need it. Last time through the game I did this area at level 46 and
the knights could barely scratch me.

Q: I tried to open ___ but it won't open! How do I open it?
A: It opens from the other side or not at all. Find a way around.

Q: What does placing the icon of fire do?
A: It Lights up the surrounding area.

Q: If I look up from the bridge that's not completely lowered I see a
statue holding something light. What is it and how do I get it?
A: It's a torch – a very decorative torch. Look at her from the floor
above and you can see it clearly. You don't ever get a torch in this
game.

Q: A guy keeps asking for poison. Where do I get it?
A: Use a crystal vial on the poison fountain way back at the beginning.

Q: How do I become Kingly?
A: Wear the Ring of Wisdom.

Q: I found a frozen dwarf! How do I thaw him?
A: Keep exploring until you find the fire cavern. It's at the top floor
of the frozen area. You will need to walk across a small ledge made of
ice to get there.

Q: Where do I find the Forest Folk Key?
A: There isn't one. Those chests are opened using Zastari's Key.

Q: Where is Zastari's Key?
A: Please check my Item Location FAQ.

Q: How do I use sword magic?
A: Every weapon, in my experience, has sword magic. First of all, the
weapon must be level 3. Second of all, there are 2 types of sword
magic. Most weapons have type A (they just fire a little slice of wind
off into the distance). Perform Type A by pressing triangle as the
weapon swings by on the screen. Some (many of the elemental based
weapons) weapons have the very special type B magic. To perform this
quickly press X and then Square, then press Triangle while the weapon
is on the screen.

Q: How do I swim?
A: You don't. You really just walk underwater and hope that you can make it
out before your air gauge runs out. Don't worry, when you start drowning you
always lose HP at the same rate. That means that, while you died instantly
when you explored behind David Bunch's shop, your HP are going to increase a
lot and drowning won't be so bad. As you level up your air gauge will start
to decrease a lot more slowly, too, and you will eventually find a necklace
called the water talisman that allows you to stay underwater even longer. For
the time being, though, ignore that water behind David Bunch's shop: there's
another way around.

Q: How do I get the Moonlight Sword?
A: See the detailed walkthrough. The information is under this title: Dead
kings, confusing messages

Q: What does the fortune bracelet do?
A: It doubles gained exp when worn.

Detailed Walkthrough

City Ruins
----------
Walk through the first door on your left to get into the city ruins.
Explore everywhere in this area.

-To get the boots you can see from the top of the wall you will need to
jump off the wall and make your way around.

-To get the mushroom that you can see sitting on top of a partially
broken wall you will need to hit the mushroom with a spell or an arrow.
You will get both later in the game.

Items: Leather Helmet, Leather Boots, Leather Gloves, Club

Healing Temple
--------------
When you're done in town, exit and head left towards the healing
temple. When you get there you will want to explore the cave on the
left first and pick up the short sword and leather vest while you're
there.

Next, head inside the building. Upstairs is Chad Breshears, but I
advise that you not talk to him until you have the second life rock.
Head down the stairs in the back-left and open a secret door to get the
Leather Shield inside.

Leave the building and turn left. The cave on the far left is the mine.
To the right of that is a save point. To the right of that is a path
leading to a couple houses. Save if you want, then go to the couple
houses. There is a shield inside the first house. Talk to the people
there and explore the cave in back for several antidotes (these are
important). Then head for the mine.

Mine
----
Inside the mine take 2 lefts to find a healing spring. From there head
left across a log and then head right at the sign. When you encounter a
sign, break it. When you encounter wooden boards, break them with a
pickaxe. Head left when you are able to and grab the arm guards. Then
backtrack and head right instead. This will take you back to the
entrance.

Head back across the log and go left this time. Pull the lever in the
wooden building to call the lift, and then ride the lift down to the
bottom floor. At the poison water, take the far right path and grab an
earth stone. The middle 2 paths are empty so now take the far left path
and grab the rock of life. Climb up over the rubble to exit.

Head right into the poison caves. Find and kill the gigantic red slime
for another rock of life. Exit the mine.

Magic, yay!
-----------
Go back to the house and give a rock of life to the sick mother. She's
snobby and ungrateful and will never thank you, but at least her
daughter gives you a fire crystal. Don't use it yet.

Take the pickaxe to the house in back and explore everything in that
house. Make sure to get the clarity bracelet from behind the house.
Equip it as soon as you get it, then go ahead and use your fire
crystal.

Crystal vial, yay!
------------------
Head back to the healing temple, go upstairs and trade Chad your second
rock of life for a crystal vial. While you're up here, fireball the
dragon flower (you can see it if you turn around and look down from
where Chad stands) and head downstairs to collect it.

Fire! Fire! Fire!
-----------------
Burn the web on the door on the right. Go through the door and down
some stairs, and then burn several more webs. At the fork you can go
right to a save point or left to an NPC. When you're ready attempt to
open the door leading into the room in the middle, then talk to the NPC
again to get the key. Use the key on the door (it's difficult to line
up, you may have to try several times) and open it up.

Boss: Big, evil, nasty spider
I find it easiest to just fireball him to death, strafing behind the
door when he gets ready to spit web at me.

When he's dead, search his room for a water crystal, then exit the room
and go down the hallway ahead.

Miner's Graveyard
-----------------
Enter the first door on the right. Grab the treasure chests to the left
and right, then enter the graveyard proper.

Go down the stairs and into the room on the right. Search the back wall
of that room for a secret door. Search the grave behind the secret door
for the best weapon you'll find for awhile: the fiery sword. Head back
upstairs.

Explore the upstairs. Note that if you don't drink the poison water,
Mista Fopa won't warn you not to (bastard! Warn me BEFORE I drink it,
not after!). In that same room with the poison water there is a hole in
the wall. Torch the web down that hole (use a fireball) and then head
back to the hallway in front of the save point near the spider room to
collect a light crystal.

When you're done exploring upstairs drop down the hole in the jail cell
on the right in the far room. Grab the iron boots here, then drop down
and grab a release stone.

Go out the door to this room. Explore left if you want (it leads to the
shroom room). When you're ready, keep going forward and look for a
release stone. When you go through the gate you will be near David
Bunch's shop. Pay him a visit if you like. Keep exploring down here and
above ground at the opposite side.

-Grab the Iron Helmet behind the barrels by David Bunch's Shop.

-Grab the leather skirt around the side of the house

-Kill all the monsters for the old man to get the key to his shack

-Break a box on the cliff for the morning star

-The caretaker's map is in the old man's shack

-At this point, if you've been saving up, selling excess equipment
should get you enough money to buy the wind crystal for 2500. Do so
ASAP.

Mmmm… healing water
-------------------
Go back into the miner's graveyard and use the 2 release rocks on the
locked door near the poison fountain and the old man. Inspect the door
on the other side of the room and then talk to the old man for another
release rock. Go unlock the door and grab the icon of healing inside.
Use the icon of healing on the altar of healing in the giant spider
room to activate the healing spring in front of the healing temple. Go
heal and fill up your vial.

I think I broke my legs
------------------------
You should be a high enough level to survive a jump down the well in
town (125 damage approximately). Go ahead and jump down and use the
healing water you just collected to recover from the fall.

Once inside you need to jump down to the very bottom of the water.
Close the open gate and open the closed gate, then RUN back to the top
to catch your breath. Use herbs if you start to drown.

When the water drains, search around on the bottom for a secret door.
Behind the door you will find the bone arms. Now exit this well. The
only way out will lead past a water crystal (grab it!) and behind David
Bunch's Shop.

Where are all those arrows coming from?
----------------------------------------
Go back to the spider room and head towards the miner's graveyard.
Instead of entering the graveyard, though, keep going straight. When
you reach a room with a hell of a lot of firing arrows, turn right. Now
enter the door on the right and search the room for a secret
compartment containing Knight Greaves.

Exit that room and go straight down the hall. Take a look at all the
statues with square heads. Find the one with a binding crown on it.
Take the binding crown and RUN AS FAST AS YOU CAN all the way back to
the place with the firing arrows. Now go left instead of right.

Explore this area thoroughly.

-You can find the Hand Axe here

-Note the Engineer's Door here

-The room with the spiders in it has a secret door containing a very
good buckler

-There is a stairway behind some barrels in the room upstairs. At the
bottom of the stairs is a switch. Flip it to open up the gate that
frees the dog. Grab the red guidestone from where the dog was.

-There is a stairway behind one of the doors. Climb the stairs and then
jump off onto another set of stairs. Flip the switch at the bottom of
the stairs to turn off the arrow trap and grab yourself a plate helm.
Turn off the 4 switches at the top of the stairs to stop all the arrows
from shooting.

More stuff
----------
Enter the door behind where the arrows were shooting. Ignore the door
on the left for now and explore straight ahead for some new stuff. You
will get the Knight Sword, Gauntlets, and Iron Breastplate (so you can
take off that skirt and become a belly dancer!).

Large, moving rocks that want to harm you (Guardians)
-----------------------------------------------------
Now go back and enter the door you passed up a moment ago. Place your
binding crown onto the statue on the right so you can get past the
guardian.

At the end there is a large door in front of you and a small door on
the left. The door on the left leads to a save point. Go up the stairs
to the left of that small door. Explore everywhere up those stairs.

-Make sure to get the Forest Carver and the Chain Mail.

Now go through that large door in the middle.

In the name of all that is pure and good, ignore the wyverns!
-------------------------------------------------------------
You are now in Center Tower 3F. Go down the stairs, turn left, and
enter the first door on the left. Explore here to find an NPC that
gives you the bow and sells stuff. Buy some arrows.

Piercing trauma
---------------
Go back to where you placed the binding crown and take both binding
crowns off the statues. Fire 3-4 arrows AT THE HEAD of each Guardian.
Collect the Earth Crystal and Keystone from where they were standing.

Time to traverse tunnels
-------------------------
Now go back through the large door, down the stairs, and left. Pass up
the doorway to where you got the bow and enter the door on the far end.
Explore all around this area.

-Eventually it leads back to Center Tower 1F on the other side of the
break in the ledge.

-There is a magic crystal in here

-There is some scale mail behind a secret door at the end of the left
tunnel

-You can also get Iron Boots here, but the Knight Greaves are better

What do widda and the expedition key have in common?
----------------------------------------------------
Don't bother with the bridge just yet. Go in the door at the top of the
stairs instead. Explore this area thoroughly.

-Break a box to find Wise Man's Fruit

-Find the Knight Shield in a chest

-Find the Expedition Key on a corpse

-Find the Long Sword in a chest locked with the Expedition Key

-You can now open the expedition chest in the first city, but it only
contains a spider armband, which is useless.

Unlock! Unlock, I said! Aw, cmon!
---------------------------------
Go back to the bridge and try as many times as it takes to properly
position yourself to place the keystone in the pedestal on the right.
When that's finally done, cross the bridge and go left across another
bridge and through a door.

ALIEEEEENNN!!!
--------------
Go up the stairs on the left and into the hall on the right. Use your
divine light spell liberally in here and explore the dark area.

-You will find a dark crystal, a wind carver, and a war helm sitting
around on the ground or in breakable boxes

Now go back to the land where light exists and explore the three doors
(don't go up the stairs yet). Note the location of the priest's door in
there. Make sure you find the keystone.

When you're done, go back and explore up the stairs. There are a lot of
stairs. You will eventually come out in the forest.

You can equip support magic onto the select button
---------------------------------------------------
Here you will find Aeaine Vigil standing next to a fountain that
replenishes MP. Up a nearby hill (follow the herb trail) is an Earth
Crystal. Now is a great time to build up all your support magic. Endure
Fire will come in very handy. Note that you can only build up Earth
Heal if you are hurt and you can only build Purity if you are poisoned.
Remember that poison fountain? Keep it in mind; you might want to head
back there after you get a couple wands (to make travel easier).

Is that an armadillo or a porcupine and what did you feed it?
--------------------------------------------------------------
Look around for a cave/stairs going downward and explore thoroughly
down there.

-You're looking for the one remaining dew on a pedestal of dew

-Find the fire carver

-Also look for the crusader helm, cavalier plate, blessed gloves, and
leg guards

If it makes the golem move like that, is it dew or mountain dew?
----------------------------------------------------------------
Use the dew on the golem and he'll open the huge door. Go inside and
down the stairs. Check the room on the right for a crystal vial, and
then go through the other door and down more stairs. At the bottom turn
left and go down more stairs.

This is the King's Mausoleum. Explore it thoroughly.

-Way down at the bottom (past the bottom, actually) is a save point and
a door. Press the button next to the door to unlock it, allowing you a
new way to get to Central Tower 3F. If you have the priest's key when
you do this, this would be a good time to go back to that priest's door
and grab the earthbinder inside.

-When you find a VERY dark room, light the torch in the middle. Look up
at the creepy hanging things and toss a fireball at the light crystal
hanging from one of them. It will fall down when you hit it.

-There is a dragon flower in here, a crusader shield, and 2 different
scale mail. You will have to jump through a hole in the wall to get one
of the scale mail.

-At the bottom (the room where the skeleton rings the bell) are the
holycrest, the priest's key, the earth carver, and the sacred gloves.
Search the tombs in the back

-After the skeleton rings the bell you can ring it again to reverse its
actions

Have wand, will travel
----------------------
Now head back to the very beginning of the mausoleum and head right
instead of left. The large hall on the right leads to a save point, the
Passage of Light, and the famed "You're Not Kingly" room. Ignore it for
now (unless you want to save) and head straight.

This room features a magic circle with 2 rooms, one on either side of
it, and the Hall of Five Wands. Explore the rooms first, grabbing you
an antidote and a knight sword, then enter the Hall of Five Wands.

In the entrance are a bunch of creepy eyes. Examine them until you find
the one that, upon being examined, closes all the eyes. Cast Endure
Fire and run into the Hall of Five Wands grabbing the red, blue, and
green wands from off the flaming statues.

This reminds me of the first King's Field
------------------------------------------
Stand on the magic circle outside the hall and use the green wand.
Voila, new area to explore. Head down the hallway and turn left.

Make sure to turn left before you hit the lava. Walking on lava isn't a
good way to promote the long life of your character. Explore the area
to the left and kill the 4 faces upstairs that are spewing lava. Then
come back down and head past where the lava used to be.

Pass up the area (Craftsman's Workshop) on your right and open up the
gate that you couldn't open from the other side. Then come back and
explore the Craftsman's Workshop.

After the disembodied voice (Arx Angelos) says hello, light the torch
in the middle of the room with your fireball. A door on the end of the
room will open and allow you to grab the Earth Folk Map. After you get
that, exit out the other door and walk along the ledge until you come
to a ladder. You can time your walking down so that you won't get hit,
or cast Endure Fire if you like. In any case, head down the ladder,
ignore the locked chest, and press the button to open the door. You'll
come back here later. Now go over to the magic circle on the far end
and use the green wand again.

At least he didn't let go
-------------------------
This time turn right instead of left. Explore the first room thoroughly
because it has a secret door in it. Going through the secret door will,
eventually, lead you to a dead-end cliff. Go there and search the left
of the cliff for the ring of insight. Now go back and exit the door you
were supposed to exit through.

Grave robbing – if only the dwarf knew
---------------------------------------
This door will take you to a not-so-dead-ended cliff. Run across the
bridge there and into the Earth Folk Area. Go up the hill with all the
torches at the top and go down the torch lit hallway, taking a left at
the end and entering the graveyard. Search the gravestone farthest from
the entrance for the Earth Folk Key.

ALIEEEEENNN!!! Part 2
---------------------
Ignore the other part of this hallway for now and head back into the
Earth Folk Area. Explore around everywhere thoroughly.

-Some Knight Gloves and a War Hammer are to be found

-Break a wall near the save point for more Knight Greaves and the Earth
Ring

-The Earth Folk Chest contains the Earthen Shield

-Don't miss the ramp to the left at the top of the hill going towards
the graveyard. The Frostbite sword is in there and it's going to be the
best you have for awhile.

When you're ready, head down the only path you've been avoiding –
straight across from the graveyard.

Have you been avoiding paying the gas bill?
-------------------------------------------
Go down one set of stairs and explore everything between here and
another set of stairs going up. When you're ready, head up the stairs.

There is a tunnel to the right and a ledge to the left. Take the tunnel
for now. Explore for a kite shield and a save point, then head back to
the ledge. Search the wall on the ledge for a compartment containing
Crusader Gloves. Then go through the nearby door and through another
door towards the left.

Make your way through these few rooms until you reach a wall. Turn left
and examine the bridge to drop it down, then turn around, go down the
hallway, and enter the first door on the left.

Search this room for a secret door to get the knight plate. Exit this
room, turn left, and head down the hallway. Go across the bridge and
grab the lethal rapier from the chest, then double back across the
bridge and head up the stairs to your right.

Turn left, cross the ice ledge, then head up some stairs. Keep heading
up stairs until you get to the top. Enter the door on the left.

These aren't dragons, they're dwarves in red, vinyl suits!
----------------------------------------------------------
Endure Fire just became your best friend. Turn right and keep going
straight until you get the crescent axe. Turn around from there and
head down the right passage. Ignore the stairs on the left (they just
go back to where you came from) and turn right. Ignore the passage on
the right for now and go straight to the earth folk chest with the fire
ring. Now come back and head down the passage you passed up.

Keep to the left and you will eventually come to…

Boss: Fat, disgusting blob of fire – You can snipe him if you want.
It's the most efficient way. I just cast endure fire over and over
again while I whack at him with frostbite. He can barely hurt me
through a level 3 endure fire.

You woke him from his nap
--------------------------
When the blob is dead, head back to the refinery (frozen area) save
point. From there head down the ledge and through the door as you did
before, only turn right instead of left this time.

Boss: Cranky, the 8th dwarf – Equip the knight sword, fire ring, and
fireball. Lure him to the door and back away until the door closes. Now
open the door, stun him with a fireball, hit him with the knight sword
and back up to avoid his attack. Repeat until dead. Grab the icon of
ice he drops.

National Enquirer Headline reads: Frozen Dwarf Lives Again!
------------------------------------------------------------
Go talk to the now unfrozen dwarf. He'll tell you that he's headed back
to his quarters. Now head back towards the fire cavern, making a brief
stop on the way at the area where you previously walked across the ice
ledge. Now you're going to cast Endure Fire and walk around the edge of
the pool of lava until you reach the treasure chest. Drop down onto it
and open it for the Scared Plate.

Placing the Icon of Ice
------------------------
Now go back near to where you fought the blob. Follow the lava stream
across a bridge and then head up the stairs. Place the icon of ice on
the altar of ice and head back down the stairs. Look to the right and
go down the newly opened path.

Boss: Fire Demon – there's nothing funny about this boss, he's actually
somewhat difficult. Some people shoot arrows at him; I circle around
him, smacking him with frostbite and using Earth Heal. Use what works
for you.

Fire! Fire! Fire! Part 2
-------------------------
Take the fire crystal from the back room and head back to the Earth
Folk Area. Meet the dwarf where you got the frostbite sword and he will
give you the craftsman's key. Run back to the craftsman's workshop and
open up the craftsman's chest to get the ice armor (great armor!).

Now, head back into the refinery. Go down the steps on the right and
into the door on the right for yet another fire crystal. Now go over to
the save point and into the door behind it. Ready your healing
items/spell and grab the black scar. Search for a secret compartment
behind the craftsman's door in this room to get the flame shield.

Man, that fire equipment sucks
-------------------------------
Leave the save point, going through the tunnel, down the stairs, and
left. Run across the bridge and enter the door on the left to get
Cavalier Greaves. Now exit that room and enter the other door.

Go through a couple of doors until you see some stairs. Go up the
stairs. You come out by Center Tower 3F. Turn left and enter another
door. Drop down and explore everything this side of the gate.

-Break the barrels on the left side of the room with all the barrels;
one contains a wind crystal

-Search near where you found the wind crystal for secret doors to get 2
magic crystals

-There is a wind ring in a chest in this area

When you're ready, open up the gate.

ALIEEEEENNN!!! Resurrection
----------------------------
Go down the stairs and into the first door on the right. Go up the
stairs in that room and explore. You will find a release rock by an
NPC. Now go back down the stairs and explore the downstairs part of
this room. You will find a crystal vial inside a hole in the wall.

Now leave the room and head down more stairs. At the bottom, turn right
and head up more stairs to get you a cavalier helm. Go back down the
stairs and enter the door on the right to get a crossbow. Exit the room
and, finally, head down the other set of stairs.

Are we done with all the strange-looking monsters now?
-------------------------------------------------------
Grab the dwarven sword and head down more stairs. Now you're at a new
area with a save point and yet another gate you can't open just yet.
Yay. Head right.

Once inside head left and take the first left you can (go up the stairs
if you really want to). Use the release rock to unlock the door on the
right and go inside. Head up the stairs in that room.

Go across a couple of bridges and grab the crusader greaves. Then go
back and drop down the hole in the wall. Grab the light crystal and the
keystone, and then head out. Turn right and then left, then drop down.

Take the first right and then drop down. Grab the kite shield and exit
through the door. Go up the stairs and into a door on the right.

Toss a fireball at the pillar of ice in this room and grab the
crystalline blade. Search the opposite end of the room for secret doors
to get you a wind crystal and the yellow guidestone. Exit the room.

Open up the gate now that you're on this side and head straight through
the door. Head right this time.

Welcome to Center Tower 2F
---------------------------
Turn left and follow the edge of the room all the way to a door. Enter
the door. Go to the end of the hallway here and turn left into the
Engineer's Quarters.

Search a ledge on your left for another release rock and search the
floor in the back-left corner for a hidden ladder leading to the power
wrist. Go into the tunnels in back, taking the left tunnel first.

Sell off all your unused equipment for the money to buy all the good
stuff Jamarc Neely wants to sell you. Buy his Yellow Wand and Crystal
Vial, and stock up on bolts. Forest Root and Mushroom are also always
good choices, as is a good amount of Herbal Liquid. After selling my
stuff I had 42,707 gold, so it was time for a shopping spree.

Now head down the right tunnel that you passed before.

Boss: Giant, creepy bug (did it scare you, too, when you realized it
wasn't a wall?) – Run as fast as you can over to his behind (he's
sleeping for now). When you're ready, slash him. Keep behind him no
matter what you do and you will hardly get hurt. Sometimes you might
have to run to keep up with his turning speed. Polishing him off will
earn you an Earth Crystal.

Pain! Burning!
---------------
Now leave the Engineer's Quarters and head left down the flaming
hallway. Run as fast as you can to the stairs on the right and head
down them. When you get down them go down the hall and enter the far
door (not the one you see from the bottom of the stairs).

Search the panels in the sides of the room for a release rock. Leave,
turn right, and enter a door on the right. In this room, enter another
door on the right. Light the torch and kill the light grayish-blue face
(it's on the back wall, right side).

Exit this room and go through the only door you haven't been through
yet. One door in this room is sealed so enter the other door (on the
right) for now.

Boss: !#@&<*$ - The best method I've found for this !#@&<*$ is to stun
him with flash and then physically attack him, then back away. Keep
moving at ALL times, use forest root when silenced, and heal using
herbal liquid. You get nothing for killing him except that the door in
the other room is now unsealed. Curse under your breath and go through
that newly unsealed door.

Oooooo! LOTS of Guardians!
---------------------------
Turn right and take the binding crown. Crossbow the Guardian in the
head, then claim the Water Necklace behind where he was hiding. Now
explore the 2 rooms on the side.

-One room just has a bunch of writing with a very important clue.

-The room with the magic circle is where this clue can be applied

-Find the hole in the wall near the ceiling of the room with the magic
circle

-Fire an arrow or bolt perfectly through that hole to lower some stairs
that lead to the Earthquake hammer.

Now go to the end of the unexplored hallway and place both release
rocks to open the "door". Take the upstairs route first and grab the
widda needle and mammoth shield. Place 2 binding crowns on the 2
statues up here and wait for the Guardians to go away, then head
downstairs and claim your Engineer's Key.

-The chest back in Engineer's Quarters contains a keystone.

-The Engineer's Door in the 4-arrow-tower area near the beginning has
the Silvery Gloves, which I personally keep equipped until I get Myu's
arms.

Get REAL familiar with this area
---------------------------------
Now go past the area where the heads were spitting arrows into a room
with a door on all 4 sides (to the left and right upstairs and on the
far and near walls downstairs). Take the door downstairs on the far
wall first.

Inside is a save point and some stairs. Head up the stairs and explore
for Zastari's Map and a Fool's Fruit (in a barrel). Now exit this area,
go up the stairs and enter the door nearest the top of the stairs. Use
your keystone on the bridge there and grab the great sword sticking out
of the bridge. Now go back across the bridge and enter the only door
you haven't yet.

Nothing good can come of this
------------------------------
I HATE the following areas, but the treasure does make up for it.
Reminds me of the big mine in KF1. Anyway, run across the bridge,
explore to the left, then come back and enter the door. Follow the cave
to the water, turn right, and wade through the water until you find the
water ring (just sitting in the water). Head back up the water stream
and then walk up to the waterfall on the right. On top of it is a magic
crystal. You need to shoot it with a spell/arrow/bolt to knock it down.
Do so, then exit the walkway and head left into the only area you
haven't been to yet.

Drop down onto a ledge with a tower shield. Drop down again and enter
the nearby wooden door. Talk to the guys in here and one of them will
give you the icon of fire. Leave, head up the ramp and turn left twice.

Keep going straight and eventually you come to a lighthouse. Head up to
the top and place the icon of fire to light up the surrounding areas.
Head back down and around and search the ground near the tombstone to
find a necklace. Now go back to the ramp and, instead of two lefts,
take a left and a right. Head up over the rock bridge (the water will
come later).

In this area the widda map will drop off of a widda. When you've got
that, jump down into the water.

Here, heading left will lead back (this is the water I told you would
come later). Head right for now. When the water widens out, take it
left and search a small cave for the Tsunami rapier. Now go back to
where the water widened and take it right. Keep going straight to a
save point.

Search to the left of the save point (along that tiny spot of coast) to
find the wavecrasher (YAY!!!). I use this sword pretty much exclusively
from here to almost the end of the game.

I HATE the underwater caves!
-----------------------------
Head away from the save point and take the first left. Follow this all
the way to an apparent dead-end. Look off the cliff to the right to see
a broken boat. Look closer to see a ledge. Turn around and walk
backwards off the cliff, landing on this ledge. Run through the cave
until you surface. Explore these caves thoroughly.

-The man here will give you a fortune bracelet if you give him a
crystal vial filled with poison water. Get the poisoned water from the
well near where you first met Mista Fopa.

Note: In case you're wondering, the fortune bracelet will double the exp
you receive from each monster when you wear it. IMO, it's only worth
wearing if you're level building.

-There are many carved statues here. Only one of them will break, the
rest will dull your sword. Break the one you can for a water crystal.

-Find the broken katana (at the end of a tunnel after you drop into a
piranha-infested pond.

-Coming back from getting the katana, head left into a tunnel. Fire a
spell (I use Flash because it's easy to aim) at the barrels to break
them. One has the Sacrificial Mask.

-The Lucky Charm can be found on Lucky the Leprechaun's corpse.

-Make sure and grab the great helm on your way out.

I HATE the Ocean Fort!
-----------------------
When you're done in the underwater caves, head back to the save point
where you got wavecrasher. Cross the bridge on the left and enter the
Ocean Fort.

Go left first and grab the Enchanted Armor.

Now go back to the main room and take the door straight ahead. In this
room on the right is the blessed bow. On the left is a chest with the
Widda Ring. RUN up to the chest to get it. Realize the chest is
backwards. RUN around the chest and open it. Wait. RUN back to the main
room and head into the only door you haven't been down yet, then up the
stairs.

You don't have much choice as to where you can go for a little bit.
When you do have a choice it comes in the form of a staircase on the
left. Go up it.

Open the chest in the room up here and grab the Widda Bracelet. Smash
the wall in back and jump down. Exit this room and head right.

Pass by the door on your right and enter the door straight ahead. There
are 7 chests in this room, but there are traps, too. When opening the
first 6 chests stick close to the chests. You'll have to RUN to the 7th
chest. Consult the cheapo ASCII art I drew below.

T=Trap Floor
D=Door
#=The number of the chest
_______
|T_7_T|
| 6|3 |
| 5|2 |
|_4|1_D

I know, my ASCII art is terrible
---------------------------------
The 7th chest contains a dark crystal. After you've successfully avoided
the trap floor, unsuccessfully avoid it! Walk away from chest 7 as if
you were going back to chest 6 and intentionally fall down. When you
fall, there is a nearby chest containing the Widda Necklace. Grab it
and get the heck outta here! You can easily live a jump down to the
main room so you don't have to mess with that arrow trap.

I HATE the Widda Castle!
-------------------------
Equip all the Widda accessories and head back to the area with all the
flames. Equipping the Widda gear will make the flames stop. Run up the
stairs into Widda castle and put your regular gear back on again.

If you want, once you're inside, clear out the areas to the left and
right. You'll get some minor items and a Champion Helm for it. When
you're ready, go straight ahead.

In this area, take the right door. Take the stairs on the left and grab
the War Sword. Search for a secret door while you're down here and grab
everything inside there. When you're done, go back up the stairs, and
turn left and head through the door.

Go through a couple rooms here and, eventually, you encounter some
arrows shooting out of a wall. Just stay on the left side and run right
into the arrows. Trying to avoid them will get you hit more. Ducking
off to the sides is not a good idea. If you get paralyzed, don't waste
a forest root. Just heal while you're getting shot and continue running
when you can. This will lead you to a door.

Behind that door is a bunch of treasure chests with some Blessed armor
pieces in them (great set of armor, I use a lot of it all the way until
I get Myu's). Off to the right is a chest with the Queen's Staff in it.
When you're done looting the Royal Widda Treasury, open the gate in
this area and head into a new room.

At this point I will recommend you run ALL the way back to the save
point and save your progress. Trust me. Come back to this room after
you save.

Now head into the door in the back-left of this room. Grab the Battle
Sword down here before you encounter the boss.

Boss: Giant Snakes – These two are such a pain. Some people claim that
they are able to run in, shoot a snake with the crossbow, and run out
before the snake breathes poison. Every time I try and go that fast, I
end up missing the darn snake. If you're like me and you kinda suck,
just stand as far as you can away from the snake without having the
snake disappear. Stand there and take their poison breath like a man,
healing as necessary (don't bother using purity). Crossbow one of the
snakes as fast as you can until it dies. Hitting the head helps. When
it does die, back off and heal your poison and just take a moment to
catch your breath. When you're ready, equip Wavecrasher, RUN back in
and around behind the snake. It's not hard to stay behind this snake. A
little bit of whacking from the Wavecrasher will bring him down.

Note: Thanks to Smoothwind and XENOLadybug I have been informed of an
alternate strategy! Wear the Thieves' Necklace. Yup, that's it. You can
just stand as far away as possible (while still having them above ground)
and fire at them with the crossbow. These little bastards are so much
easier now....

When the snakes are dead, head down the pit the right snake came out of
and grab the forest fruit. Then drop the rest of the way down. Head out
of this hallway and up the stairs on the left. Open up the gate on this
side now and go save if you wish.

When ready, go back down the stairs, turn completely around and head
out the door in the same direction as the stairs. This path will lead
to another boss.

Boss: Queen Widda – after the pain-in-the-rear snakes, the Queen is
quite a pushover. Just crossbow her to death from a long distance and
strafe behind the wall whenever her magic balls come near you. It's not
hard at all. Upon dying the Queen will drop a fire crystal. Take it,
you've earned it!

Behind the Queen is the Widda Key and a save point (YAY!!).

Just 2 more things left to do. Head upstairs and open the widda door in
that first room to grab the Venom Gloves. Now head back downstairs, go
left, and enter the widda door on the left to get the Lawful Blade.
Leave there and exit the other door in this room to get to the Egg
Field.

YAY!! The Widda Castle is over!
--------------------------------
Honestly, the rest of the game is a breeze now. That castle was about
as hard as it gets. Straight ahead of you now is some stairs. The door
on the right at the top of the stairs has a save point in it. Go past
that door, down more stairs, and around a wall to get to a mine cart.
Step on it for just a moment and then jump off. It will think you're
still on it and it will leave. Grab the Shadow Mask from underneath
where it was. Now head all the way back to the beginning and down some
stairs.

At the bottom of the stairs is a mine track that you should just
ignore. Go find the next mine track. Wait for the mine cart there and
let it take you to the other side. After it leaves, walk down the mine
track a bit and enter a door on the right. Go up some stairs in here
and break a pot for another wind crystal, then head back to where the
mine cart dropped you off and enter the door.

Explore this cave thoroughly.

-On the ledge with all the archers is a large hole in the wall. Look
through the hole and shoot an arrow/bolt/spell (as always, I use flash)
at the brownish-orange egg. Wrap around to the other side of the wall
to get it.

-Don't miss the venomblade in the poison water here.

Are those… Hydralisks?!
------------------------
Exit this cave via the door you did not come in by. Enter a passageway
on the left, ignore the first mine track you come to, head down some
stairs and walk down the mine track there.

This track leads to the area with the second strange egg. Just look in
the little holes in the wall for it, it's not hard to find. When you're
done, drop down a hole in the floor at the top of the cave and grab the
earth crystal there, then drop back onto the track and head all the way
back to the save point in the beginning and ride the mine cart right in
front of it. Enter the cave where the mine cart drops you off and give
a strange egg to the panel in the wall to the left of the door on the
far end.

Purple Skulls, White Bones, Brown Graves – will I find Lucky's grave?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Go through the door and into the Great Graveyard. Head up a couple
small flights of stairs to the left and search the wall for a secret
door. Break the pot inside for Myu's Necklace. You can trade the guy
here your bones, claws, and scales for priceless items. Trade in as
much as you can.

Exit the secret area, turn left, and drop down. Go up the stairs on the
other side and head right to grab the broadsword. Now come back down
the stairs, turn right, and head up the stairs straight ahead. Open the
gate at the top and go save at the nearby save point if you wish. This
is also a good time to give your second strange egg to the hungry guy
in the area where you got the icon of fire. He'll give you a crystal
vial for it.

Head back into the graveyard and turn left. Head up the stairs to the
right. Go left first and search the last gravestone for the Demon Legs.
Keep going and press the button at the end. Now head back to the stairs
and go right instead of left. Drop down.

Go through the widda door here and cast Life Shield. Open up the chest
and then open up the secret door on the far side of the room. The chest
contains the Widda Bow, the door contains the Dwarven Pickaxe. Head out
of here and open the gate, then get back to the bottom of the stairs
you went up last and keep going right past them.

Just to make you aware, the purple skulls in this area rarely drop the
Dark Defiler. They have a 1-2% chance of dropping it each kill.

Anyhow, go past the stairs and, if you wish, take the hall on the left
so you can drool on Myu's Arms. Wipe off the drool, leave there, and
head to the right (down some stairs) instead. This takes you to a save
point in some water and a door on the right. Take the door on the
right.

Ancient Ruins
--------------
Go down the stairs into the water and up some stairs near the bottom of
those stairs. Grab the ancient key in this room.

Head down the stairs, into a building, and up the stairs in there. Turn
to face the center of the stairs, look down to see the ancient sword,
drop down and grab the ancient sword. Head back up the stairs and go
across the bridge at the top.

Go down some stairs here, through the building, and then up some stairs
to a dark crystal. Look out over the edge of the room at a fallen
pillar. Drop onto it and grab the widda needle, now head back to the
save point.

Welcome to Center Tower 1F
---------------------------
Time to take the water route. Go through some water, up some stairs,
through a door, drop down, through more water, drop down (a BIG drop!)
and go up the stairs you see straight ahead.

Turn left at the very top of the stairs, pass by the door on the left
and drop back into the water. Bring plenty of healing because you'll
run out of breath before you can surface for air. There is a tunnel
ahead of you. Go down it and grab the water crystal, then head all the
way back up the stairs and into the door you passed last time.

This is a great place for a guidestone if you have one with you. Fill
all your vials with golden water, too. When you're ready, head across
the bridge nearest to the door.

"Great" thief indeed
---------------------
Go through the door across the bridge and then over to the left. You'll
find yourself in a room with lots of spears and a secret door on the
other side. Go through that secret door and activate the button to stop
the spears. Now grab Zastari's Key off of the corpse.

Exit this room through the door you have not yet been through. Go up
the stairs on your left and open all the chests you can there. When
you're done looting, drop down onto the block on the far left, turn
around, break the wall, and go inside. Kill the lava faces and then
exit this secret area. Head into the door on the right and grab the
King's Map.

Now come back to the main room and loot all the treasure chests. Don't
miss the secret door on the far end (use Myu's Necklace) that has the
Triple Fang sword behind it. This sword rivals the Wavecrasher, it's
personal preference which you choose, but many will choose the Triple
Fang. Triple Fang has cooler sword magic anyway ?

When you're ready, enter the door at the far end. There are three half-
doors here, each one having a chest behind them. Every time you open a
door, a giant stone block will attempt to shove you off the edge into a
pit of poison. Just be quick and you can get the 2 dragon flowers and
crystal vial in the chests. When you're ready, continue upward.

Explore up here, opening all the chests. One chest (the one facing the
wrong way) contains a button that, when pressed, will open a secret
door. Grab the Earth Crystal from the statue on the right and read the
clue on the far wall. Now head out of here and enter the only area you
have yet to explore – a door at the top of some stairs.

Through this door is a puzzle – the puzzle you just read the clue for.
Try to figure it out yourself, but if you can't the answer is Earth
(front-right), Water (back, left), Fire (front, left), Wind (back,
right). Solving this will get you the Ring of Wisdom (You are now
Kingly! Don't worry about that just yet, though).

Mmmmm… Succubus
----------------
Exit the treasury and head up the stairs on the left. At the top of
those stairs is a save point on the left and more stairs on the right.
Take the stairs. At the top of those stairs are more stairs on the left
that you should climb.

There are some stairs to the right at the top of these stairs and the
door you need to go through is somewhat straight ahead. Explore this
area thoroughly, drooling on Myu's Legs before you go. When you're
ready, head through the door at the end.

Stay on the very left side of the bridge and RUN across, readjusting
over to the left if wind hits you. On the other side of the bridge turn
left and grab the dragon flower on the edge of the cliff. Look off the
edge of the cliff to see a barely visible ledge. Drop down onto that
ledge.

Explore the caves here for various items including a wind crystal.
Eventually you will come to the room above the last save point. RUN
across the ceiling beams to grab the guardian shield, then drop down by
the save point and head back across the bridge. Instead of going left
this time, head up to the mansion.

So easy, yet so important
--------------------------
You'll want to take the stairs to the left of the mansion first and
enter the mansion on the second level. Activate a switch on the second
level and then go down into the main entrance. Go through the gate you
just opened.

After you head past the gate, go left. You'll want to make a brief stop
in the room on the right for a dragon flower and then head down the
stairs and enter the black, evil door of hate.

Boss: Large, evil demon with a hammer – keep your distance. Don't
bother to try and circle around him, either. There isn't enough room
and some of his attacks reach all the way around him. You might be able
to use a crossbow/blessed bow if you really want, but (as usual) I find
it effective to stun him with flash and then close in and whack him
with my sword. Repeat until dead, and then claim Serrak's Key (YAY!!!).

Exit the black, evil door of hate and head up the stairs. Open the
Serrak's Door on the left for the Icon of Water. Open the Serrak's Door
near the entrance for various items (including Wise Man's Fruit!). When
you're ready, head up the stairs into Serrak's room and grab the
ancient shield in the chest in the corner. Grab the dragon flowers
here, too.

Now might be a good time to go ALL the way back to the gold fountain
and cross the bridge that you have not crossed yet. Just before the
bottom is a Serrak's Door with the Ancient Armor behind it. After
you've done that (or if you don't feel like it) go back to the
staircase leading towards the Mansion of Howling Winds and ignore it.
Instead go up the stairs on the right and into a room on the right.

Watch for falling spiders
--------------------------
Search the middle torch in this room to find a fire crystal. Search the
statues along the walls for dragon flowers and also search the far end
of the room for a secret door leading to the Guardian Bracelet. Now
head all the way back to the magic fountain in the forest.

The famed 4-armed knights
--------------------------
Enter a door near the magic fountain and open the 4 locked chests to
gather the 4 black eyes. Now head to the Passage of Light I told you to
avoid last time you were here (it's near the Hall of Five Wands).
You're going to run up a long flight of stairs, turn right and head up
more stairs on your right. Open the door on the left for the first 4-
armed knight.

You're so strong by this point that you can just take him in a frontal
assault (strafing around him does virtually nothing, he can even attack
behind himself), or if you prefer (which I do) just stand at the
entrance and crossbow him in the head until he drops. Open the door on
the right in the room to claim the ancient helmet and then exit out the
door on the other side.

Turn left, go down the stairs on the right, run straight to the far
wall, go up the stairs on the right and into the room on the right.
This second 4-armed knight is much like the first one. When he's dead,
claim the Ancient Arms from the room on the right, then exit out the
other side.

Turn left, drop off the ledge, head up the stairs on the left and enter
the room on the right. Kill the 4-armed knight and claim the Ancient
Legs from the chest on the left. Exit out the other side and go down
some stairs on the left to exit the Passage of Light (phew!).

Dead kings, confusing messages
-------------------------------
Grab the light crystal from the pedestal and the king's key on the
ground. Use the black eyes on the door on the left. Climb all the way
up to the top and inspect the jewel nestled in the roots. Take the
sword from it (YAY!!!) and then leave. Save at the save point, equip
the Ring of Wisdom, and get ready to level.

Note: Due to no less than 4 e-mails on this part, I'm adding a bit of
information. First of all, you MUST have the Lawful Blade at this part.
Get the lawful blade off of Septiego's Corpse in Widda Castle. Second,
it may take several tries to line up (I haven't had this problem, but
at least 2 other people have). All you have to do is inspect the jewel
(doesn't matter what sword is equipped as long as you possess the
lawful blade) and the lawful blade will float above it and plunge down
into it. Once it's in there just grab it back out again and it's the
Moonlight Sword!

Levels abound
--------------
Have you noticed that this room features infinite skeletons as long as
you don't kill the big-boss skeleton on the far end? Equip your fortune
bracelet (doubles exp) and cut down skeletons as long as you like.
Level 60 is easily enough to beat the game. Just so you would know how
long it takes, I went ahead and leveled to level 99 here. That comes at
about 980,000 exp, but I went to the full 999,999 (I was leveling
weapons, too, and I wanted to finish off the current weapon). To go
from 89,356 exp to 999,999 took me 5 hours, 9 minutes, and 24 seconds
in this spot. Yeah, that's a lot of straight level building, but if you
only need to get to level 60 you can see how quickly you can accomplish
just that.

Boss: Level Vendor – Moonlight Sword Magic does the trick :)

The final few areas
--------------------
Head all the way back to where you got the ancient plate (collecting
any Myu's you want on the way – break the seals by slashing them with
the moonlight sword) and keep on going down. You'll enter a room with
poisoned water. Just run across the water into a large, circular room
and place the icon of water. After that's placed, explore all around
this area.

-One room leads to the jail, save that for last.

-One room is completely empty; another has nothing but a gigantic slime

-Outside the room with the gigantic slime is the Jail Key, scattered
among some bones.

-One room has an underwater passage on the side that leads to the
Healing Pendant.

-One room has a giant monster that drops a water crystal when killed.

Go directly to Jail, do not pass GO, do not collect 200 gold pieces
--------------------------------------------------------------------
Go down into the jail area, save, and head through the door. This area
in general is called the Old Battlefield. Enter the door on the left to
enter the Jail.

Once inside head immediately down the stairs on the right. Then take
the first door on the left. The right side of that room contains Myu's
Shield. Exit and turn left. Wrap around to the other set of stairs you
could have gone down in the beginning and grab the Demon Shield on the
way.

Now go down the only hall you haven't been down and cross a bridge on
the left. Search on the ledge to the left of the bridge to find a
secret door. Behind that door is a dark crystal.

Exit the secret door and head left, then left again. Go down the (very)
short hall and head right. In the second jail cell on the left is a
breakable wall (at the back) with the violet guidestone in it. When
you're done exploring, go towards (but not across) the other bridge
here.

Turn left before the bridge and walk along the ledge. Go down the first
hallway to your left.

Boss: Dark Demon – this guy confuses me. The first time through the
game (at level 81) I just walked right up to him and ripped him a new
one. The second time (at level 99) he killed me in one hit. I'm really
not sure what to think, but I do know this: keeping your distance and
slamming him with moonlight sword magic works :) (note: By attempting
this feat again from an earlier save I was able to figure out why he
was able to kill me so fast. Always remember to only use moonlight
sword magic on a DISTANT enemy! It can hurt you, too, if you're too
close and let's just say enemies have a LOT more hit points than you do!)

When he's dead he will drop the violet wand. Activate the switch behind
him and head through the previously closed gate in the beginning. This
path will lead you outside.

Note: According to KANE this is an excellent place to level up. Just keep
running back and forth between the entrance and the exit, killing all the
cerberus you come across. With the fortune bracelet they should give you
1000 exp each kill. Man, I wish I would have known that before killing
skeletons all the way to level 99....

I am made of liquid metal
------------------
Wander around this side of the Old Battlefield a bit and soon a demon
thingy will J you in the back. Kill him and take his dark crystal.
There's another demon thingy around here somewhere, too, but he doesn't
have anything interesting to drop.

Walk around until you find the bones of the fallen Lord Myu. Take the
scorpion sword from his bones. Turn around and check out the final
piece of his armor set, too! Climb up the large skeleton a little bit
and hop off onto the plateau to claim this final piece.
Congratulations, you now look like a cyborg! Finish crossing the giant
skeleton and make your way to the end of the Old Battlefield.

Mmmmm… Moonlight
-----------------
Walk into the excessively dark cave and swing the moonlight sword to
light it up (anybody else hear the dead alewives Dungeons & Dragons
skit? "I'm attacking the darkness!"). Soon a semi-transparent boss and
his archer cohorts will accost you.

Boss: Semi-transparent boss and his archer cohorts – You can snipe
(crossbow or blessed bow) or moonlight sword magic the succubus
archers. For the boss himself, I recommend actually slashing him with
the moonlight sword, with the occasional moonlight sword magic tossed
in ?

When you're done, head all the way back to the VERY beginning of the
Old Battlefield and save. That's the last save point in the game and
you're about to hit the point of no return. Come on back to the altar
of darkness when you're ready and place the idol of sorrow onto it.
Enjoy the cut scene!

Did the dark one just eat me?
------------------------------
The King's Map is a huge help here in case you get lost. Well, it's a
huge help until the final area anyway. It's fairly useless (but
thankfully not needed) in the final area. In any case, it's time to
climb the Dark One's esophagus.

Turn around and head down the only passage there is. You will be
attacked by white blood cells popping out of the floor and little heads
will pop out the sides of the dark one's digestive tract and spray
digestive acid on you. Take a left at the first fork, and then take 3
rights at the remaining forks in the esophagus. Finally, you will reach
the throat.

Monsters in the throat respawn instantly, so just kill them and RUN
past to avoid having to kill them again.

The path will twist indescribably for a bit. Take a left when you get
the chance. Follow the lava on the right and cross the bridge. You will
soon encounter the final boss!

Boss: Uvula of the Dark One – Make sure you are at full health, then
slash it with the moonlight sword. Drop down and take a LOT of damage.
Run up the ramp on your right and follow the right wall. Follow the
lava around and cross the bridge to confront the uvula once more. You
will fall like this and have to run back each time you strike the
uvula. I think that's due to a massive throat convulsion each time you
strike. The third hit will kill it, though (it's only a uvula) and you
can enjoy the ending.

Note: some people say they can defeat the uvula by slamming it with
light magic until the black lightning stops and then striking it with
the moonlight sword. After many judgment spells and at least 20
moonlight sword magics it STILL took 3 hits from the moonlight sword to
kill him, so I'm not sure how this is supposed to be accomplished.
However you manage to beat him, enjoy the ending!

Alternate Strategy: If you slam the Uvula with a spell from a distance and
then run up to him and slash him you should avoid falling down altogether!
If the spell you're using isn't working, try using invoke lightning (that is
the spell that was suggested to be by KazanMC when he submitted the strategy)

Special thanks to everybody who helped me with my Item Location FAQ!
I got the idea for writing this walkthrough when I started playing
through the game a second time to find a lot of the earlier items for
the Item Location FAQ. There are many items that I explain where/how to
get in this walkthrough that I would not otherwise have known about if
it weren't for the help I received with my Item Location FAQ. The people
that helped are listed below, thanks guys!
