v1.0.2 At long last the elusive Sumo gimmick has been cracked

v1.0.1 With the old AtGig site going down, the permission list has been amended
to reflect that the FAQ is no longer available on AtGig and is now on my
new website, HRivers FAQs and Reviews.
A HTML version of this guide can also be found at HRivers.

v1.0.0 A couple of known errors were fixed, and gimmicks that were accidentally
missed out have been added. Sumo remains unknown, however.

v0.9.9 The guide has been near enough finished and uploaded to PushySoft. It
has also been submitted to GameFAQs and will hopefully be posted there,
too.

The following is a list of every gimmick in the game, and what prerequisites a
worker must meet in order to use the gimmick effectively. I have taken the
liberty of dividing them up by their letters, so that you don't have to scroll
through lots and lots of text in order to find the section of the FAQ that you
want to see. I know this could be helpful if you have difficulty in spelling
words such as "Misogynist", where even using the search function (Ctrl+F) would
not help you. To jump to the section you want to go to, hit Ctrl+F and type
"ewr_gm" plus the first letter of the gimmick. For example, if you wanted to go
to the section containing the "Religious Zealot" gimmick, press Ctrl+F and type
"ewr_gmr" and you'll be sent to the start of the section with the gimmicks that
begin with R. That's simple enough, isn't it?

NOTE: All tests were done with a handful of guinea pigs from WWE. There is a
chance that you may experience differences with a few gimmicks when using a fed
at a lower level.

| FAQ |

\------------------------------/

Q. My worker has been involved in a 100% segment and he didn't get the unique
gimmick. What's wrong?
A. I've heard of this happening a few times, though the exact reason for why it
doesn't work still eludes me. In most cases the worker is a tweener (usually
Raven). I haven't tested this, but it MAY be that tweeners just can't get the
unique gimmick - if you turn them face/heel, get the gimmick and turn them
back again, that's one way of getting around the problem.
Another possibility is that the person isn't the main focus of the segment.
In interviews, the person who is doing the talking will get the unique
gimmick - for tag team interviews, this is the person selected in the first
box, and for interviews with a manager, it's the manager who'll get it.

Q. The mountie gimmick needs the worker to not be Canadian? But mounties ARE
Canadian...surely that's a mistake?
A. It is a mistake, but not on my part. It is a coding error by Adam.

Q. You still haven't found out the sumo gimmick? Can't Adam tell you?
A. No, he can't. I've tried emailing Adam a couple of times during the creation
of the FAQ, and although he gave me a few tips about his coding style that
helped make my job that little bit easier, he couldn't help me in regards to
any specific gimmicks. His computer with the EWR code went into storage in
August 2003, sometime between the date when he finished EWR4.2 and the date
when he joined .400 Software Studios. At the time when I sent the emails to
him, he had spent so much time programming his TEW and WreSpi games that he
could barely even remember EWR. He has admitted that there may have been a
coding error, but there's no way for him to confirm that without access to
the code.

Q. You say that this gimmick needs these requirements, but my worker meets these
requirements and it says that the gimmick doesn't work. Why?
A. There are two possibilities. Although I have tested the gimmicks thoroughly,
there is a chance that I have made a few mistakes when writing down my
findings. If you believe this to be the case, then please email me and I can
check for myself and amend the FAQ if needed. The other possibility is that
you've had the gimmick on the worker for a long time and it is becoming
"stale". This usually happens after 1-3 years. There's nothing you can do
about it except change the gimmick to something else that does work.

Q. I'm being told that this worker's gimmick isn't working. What could I use
that is similar to his real-life gimmick?
A. This is a pet hate of mine. You're playing a game that allows you loads of
freedom in how to play it, you sign the likes of AJ Styles and Christopher
Daniels to 5-year contracts for WWE and so on because they get so many 5*
matchess (the odds of them moving to WWE seem very slim)...and you want your
gimmicks to remain close to reality? Do yourself a favour and download my
Gimmick Generator, which will show you all sorts of gimmicks that will work
for that worker - you never know, it may give you some ideas.
Sticking to a worker's real-life gimmicks gives you a very small booking box
to work in. For example, say you've got JBL. You've got lots of options for
things similar to his real-life money-flashing gimmick (That 80s Guy, Rich
Snob and so on), but what are you going to do if you choose to turn JBL heel?
None of those gimmicks will work for a face character. Are you going to have
him constantly switch between his "JBL" and "APA" Bradshaw gimmicks every
time you switch his disposition? Step out of the box and use your
imagination. Distance yourself from the shackles of reality. EWR will be a
more enjoyable experience once you're capable of doing that.
Also, I no longer watch very much wrestling, so I'm not exactly up to date on
what gimmick each wrestler is using, so I'm not in much of a position to tell
you what gimmick would resemble the worker's current gimmick when I don't
even know what that person's current gimmick is.

As much as I tried, some gimmicks may not be 100% accurate, and in some cases I
was unable to get them to work at all. If you find any mistakes or wish to add
something that was missed out then please send the correct info to

Thanks to the following people who helped me (in alphabetical order):
Legendary Sword, qpeedore, Styk

Eternal thanks go out to Legendary Sword for finding all of the requirements for
that damned Sumo gimmick. It may have taken a year and a half, but someone has
FINALLY managed to find the formula to get it working properly. I never would
have guessed that only managers could use the Sumo gimmick, especially since
Yokozuna was an active wrestler in WWF.

My thanks also go out to Adam Ryland, not only for creating the game in the
first place, but also for the help that he was able to give me while I was
writing this guide.
