Greetings, and welcome to my FAQ/Walkthrough for Faria, for the
Nintendo Entertainment System (NES). Within this document I have attempted
to concentrate as much information on the game as possible in an effort
to answer any questions you might have or get you through any point of the
game in which you might be stuck upon. Enjoy! =D

= Part One: The Introduction =
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-

This section of the FAQ contains some basic information about both the
guide and game itself. If you'd rather just get on with the game, skip this
if you please and head on down to the walkthrough section. :P

-> Some questions I'll probably be asked sooner or later <-

Q. Faria? What in the world is that?
A. Faria is a not-very-well-known action/RPG for the NES, jointly developed by
a few companies including Game Arts (one of my favorite developers! =D) and
Nexoft (creators of the 'Wizardry' series). If you haven't heard of it, it
really wouldn't surprise me. However, I found it to be a quite fun
and challenging "old-school" type game.

Q. OK, so why make a guide for it?
A. Due to the recent craze that is emulation which has been sweeping the internet,
the "popularity" of NES games is on a rise as more people are gaining access
to games which they haven't played yet. Therefore, it's necessary for us
FAQ writers to continue making guides for these old games. Plus, there's the
fact that I couldn't find a single walkthrough for this game on the internet.
:P

-> About the Game itself <-

As stated before, Faria is somewhat of an action/RPG. You'll explore towns,
dungeons, castles, etc as you would in your normal RPG, and have random encounters
on the world map, but the battles are fought in a Zelda-ish manner, in which you
run around on the screen and actually attack your enemies in real-time, etc.
As in any RPG, there are lots of items to collect, monsters to fight, people to
talk to, etc.

-> Some Helpful Tips <-

- ALWAYS carry at least two pairs of Wings with you at all times. Wings
let you transport immediately to any town you have already visited, and since
there are no vehicles in the game, you will be walking... a lot. Wings will
help save you a lot of time, and headaches.

- Also, be sure to buy a Light early in the game, as you will need it to
explore the pitch-dark caves. Also, be sure to carry a battery or two, as
they are required for the light to function! Each battery contains 50 cells,
which will last quite a long time, but you really don't want to run out of
juice deep within the heart of a cave!

- The game can be cruel sometimes as to penalizing you from escaping from
battles. When you escape there is a chance you may lose EXP, Gold, HP, or
in the worst case items (or even equipment!!). Try not to press your luck
by escaping too often... save it for the tough battles, or when you're hurt.

-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
= Part Two: The Walkthrough =
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-

This section is a walkthrough of the game, meaning I'll give detailed
explanations on where to go, what to do etc leaving pretty much nothing for you to
figure out yourself. It's for this reason I recommend resorting to the guide only
when you get stuck or need some advice on a particular situation. Of course
you're free to use it however you wish, but I figured I'd just make a little
suggestion ;)

First, I'll outline some of the basics of the game....

-> Controls <-

The controls are reasonably simple... the control pad moves you around,
either on the world map, in a town or dungeon, or on the battlefield. To talk
to someone, just walk up to them and they will spit out whatever information they
have. In battle, use the A button to stab with your weapon, and use the B button
to fire an arrow (provided you have a bow, and some arrows of course). The start
button brings up the menu.

-> Menu <-

The field menu has four items... Item, Status, Drop, and Equip.

Item: Shows you a list of the items you are currently carrying. You can
use an item by selecting it with the cursor and pressing 'A'.
Status: Brings up a detailed status display of your character, showing your
stats such as HP, Strength, Defense, your equipped weapons, and other items
such as Gold, Batteries, etc.
Drop: Allows you to drop an un-wanted item. Beware that once an item is
dropped, it cannot be retrieved. For this reason, some items are not
droppable.
Equip: Allows you to equip weapons and armor so that you may use them in
battle. This is important... remember that weapons/armor are useless until
equipped!

In battle, there is also an "Escape" option which allows you to flee the
battle. Note that sometimes when you escape, you may lose Gold or EXP!

Now, without further rambling on my part... the walkthrough! :P
**********************************************************************************

As the game begins, you'll find yourself in Ehdo, the largest town in the
kingdom of Faria. It's really not that large, however, as it consists only of a
few shops and a house or two. First it would be a good idea to run around town
and speak with its inhabitants to figure out what you're supposed to be doing.
One of them suggests that you visit the nearby castle. Before we do that, visit
the various shops and take a look at the stuff they have for sale. There are lots
of them...

Inn --> SAVE your adventure

For now, go to the weapon shop and purchase a few pieces of equipment.
I recommend getting a Knife, Pelt Armor, and a Wood Shield, which will cost
every single last one of your 230 Gold Pieces. Don't forget to equip them!
Once you're ready, head outside of Ehdo. Before going to the castle, note
that since you start off at level 1, you're pretty weak, so it would be a
good idea to hang around and fight monsters to obtain both EXP and Gold to
make a few more purchases. Feel free to wander, but stay close to Ehdo in
case you get roughed up in a fight. Also, stay out of the forest! The
forest contains strong monsters (i.e too strong for you to take care of
for the time being). =P

*NOTE* You'll also see a small dwelling in the middle of the 'Forest
of Confusion' (or so I call it), to the southeast of Ehdo. I call it that
because you will be unable to control your movements while in the forest...
pushing 'Right' on the control pad may make you move up or any other random
direction (at least it seems random to me). Since the monsters there are
too strong for you at the moment, leave it alone for the time being.
Besides, even if you do make it there, the old woman there will shoo you
away. :(

When your HP starts running low, head back to the Hospital in Ehdo and
'Heal'. It will cost a bit of money, depending on how hurt you are (the more
HP you are missing, the more it will cost!). I recommend hanging around and
fighting monsters until you reach level 4 or so, and by that time you should
have enough Gold to purchase a Wood Bow and some arrows from the weapon store
(and don't forget to equip them!). Now, let's check out that castle we heard
about in town! You'll find it a short ways to the north and east of Ehdo
(once again, stay out of the forest for now). Talk to the King and you (your
character that is) will offer to rescue the princess (who... looks like a
caterpillar??).

The King will give you a portrait of the princess (still say that looks
like a caterpillar to me) and 100 Gold for your expenses. With this money
(depending on how much you fought) you should have enough Gold now to head
back to Ehdo and buy a Dirk, and sell off your old knife. Now once you're
ready head for the bridge to the north of Ehdo, and since you are on the
King's quest, the guard will let you pass. Cross, and shortly you'll reach
the next town, Somusa.

*NOTE* The jewels in the jewel shop serve only as safe-keeping for
your money. When you die you lose half your Gold, but you retain any
items (such as jewels). Jewels can sold back at 90% of the price they are
bought, so rather than being loaded down with money and risk losing half
of it, consider using jewels instead.

There's not much in Somusa... the shops sell basically the same
things as the ones in Ehdo. One of the townspeople mentions seeing a
young caterp... err, lady in the forest nearby that looks like the
portrait! Exit Somusa and head for the patch of forest to the south-west.
You'll find a caterpillar-looking person who looks like the one in the
portrait, but if you hang around you'll find out this really isn't the
princess. -_-

In Somusa, you also probably heard about the Tower of Gelve, which
is situated nearby. It would be worth checking out, but first I
recommend sticking around and fighting some more monsters to gain EXP and
money. Most of the dungeons in Faria are large and fairly tough, so you'll
want to prepare yourself properly. It also wouldn't hurt to buy a few
Balms/Salves from the Hospital, because you will probably need them. ;)

Once you're about level 5 (which really shouldn't take long to
achieve), head out for Gelve Tower, located a short distance to the north
of Somusa! =)

TOWER OF GELVE

As I said before, most of the dungeons in Faria are quite large and
fairly difficult. Normally I would run you around all over the place
picking up treasure and generally telling where which directions go, but
luckily Nash was kind enough to donate an ASCII map of the tower for
use in the guide. =D

*NOTE* Upon entering Gelve Tower, you'll notice a strange-looking
statue. Obviously, this is a clue to opening the gate. Push the statue
from the left, and it will move, and likewise the gate will open.

There are three more statues like this one that open various gates
that block off areas of the tower. The first one is in the lower-right
corner of the second floor, accessible by climbing the stairs in the
lower-right corner of the first floor. This statue removes the gates
surrounding the four staircases in the middle of the bottom floor. The
second statue is located just up the upper-right staircase in the center
of the floor. This one opens the gate that blocks the corridor up the
lower-left staircase. The last statue is at the end of the
aforementioned corridor, and opens the gate leading to the boss... the
Red Dragon!

The Red Dragon isn't all that tough if you have a decent supply of
arrows left. He'll basically just chase you around, so what you can do
is run around the outside of the room and shoot arrows at him from a safe
distance. He really shouldn't pose much of a threat at all. Once the
Dragon is out of the way, continue into the next room to find the princess
(who, looks NOTHING like a caterpillar, might I add! :). She'll thank
you for rescuing her and ask you to take her back to the castle. Head
out the door to the north and you'll automatically head back outside the
tower, which collapses upon your exit.

Since your escapade through the Tower most likely got you quite a
bit of money, make a pit stop back to Somusa, and upgrade your equipment...
if you have the money buy both the Iron Sword and Chain Armor (you might
also want to sell off your Pearls from the tower). Buy a few more Salves
from the Hospital as well, then when you're ready head back to the castle.
Talk to the king and he'll thank you for rescuing the princess, but he is
unable to keep his promise to the townspeople that whomever rescues the
princess shall marry her (as your main character is female -_-). The
kingdom commences to throw a celebration, but no sooner than the festivities
start, one of the king's guards reports that the caviar given to the
townspeople for the celebration was poisoned!! The King asks you to go
check on the townspeople, so head back to Ehdo.

All is not really well in Ehdo, as all the townspeople are sick in
the Hospital. The nurse asks you to go to the township across the ocean
in order to get the medicine for the town. So, head for the port that is
to the northwest of Ehdo and talk to the sailor and pay him the fee of
20 Gold. After a (very short) boat ride, you'll disembark on the other
side of the "ocean". Make your way to the west and you'll soon reach
the town of Karuza, nestled in the middle of a patch of forest.

TOWN OF KARUZA

Item Shop

Battery 50 Gold
Light 80 Gold
Wings 15 Gold
Flash Ball 30 Gold
HyperSpeed1 30 Gold

There's not much of anything in Karuza (not even a hospital! Yeech!),
but you'll learn that across the bridge (which is broken, might I add) lies
the town of medicine. To get there, first we'll have to fix the bridge,
which the Mysterious Seed is said to be able to fix. The seed can be found
in Highria, but the Elder won't give it to you unless you defeat the monster
at Broww Tower. The Scissor monster there is said to be invincible, and
can only be harmed if you have the Golden Stone in your possession. An old
man in a cave a little ways to the northwest of the village has the stone,
but as you would expect, the cave is dark and you'll need the Light to find
your way around. What's worse, the light is useless with batteries, which
cost 50 Gold each. And to make matters worse, the cave is absolutely HUGE.
Is that enough for you? :P

Make sure to purchase a Light and several batteries before heading out
to the cave.

*NOTE* Since the town conveniently doesn't have a hospital, you must
go all the way back to Ehdo to rest. This is best accomplished by
purchasing a set of Wings from the store... it's 5 Gold cheaper than the
boat, plus you don't have to worry about getting mauled by monsters on the
way back... -_-

Once you're fully prepared (are about level 7 or 8, have a few
batteries and a few salves), head out for the cave. As I said, the cave is
located to the north of the township. There is a small peninsula to the
east of the cave... by heading out onto this you can find a hidden bag of
gold! The interior of the cave is maze-like, and the fact that you can
only see a short distance in front of you makes it even worse. Therefore,
I've provided a very ugly ascii map of the cave below (and yes, this one
is mine, which is probably why it looks so ugly. =p)...

*NOTE* Remember, the game really is cruel at heart. Try to avoid
escaping from battles too much, as you really get bashed over the head
sometimes after running from battles... you can lose EXP, Gold, HP, or
in the worst case, Items. And if you lose your Light... well, ahem...
you're screwed. Be careful.

Make your way to the old man and he will congratulate your on your
skills, and give you the Golden Stone. Now, make your way back out of
the cave and head back to Karuza. Purchase a pair of wings then head
back to Ehdo for a well-deserved rest (and re-stock on salves, if need
be). Once you're ready, head back to Karuza, and set out for the tower.
It is located far to the northwest of Karuza, past the cave that we just
finished exploring. Near the tower is also another town... this is the
town of Highria.

In Highria, you'll notice (besides the expensive weapons for sale),
that all the townspeople are talking about the "Scissor Monster" that
lives in the nearby tower. The nurse at the hospital also mentions a
strange green monster that lives in the nearby forest. The 'monster' can
be found in the small patch of forest east of town, and upon going
there you'll meet the monster, who'll just say "Gao, Gao, Gao". This
is actually a clue to a special code that can be used in the game (see
the "Super Soldier" section in the Reference Lists section for more
details). For now, all signs seem to be pointing to the tower, so let's
check it out!

Before going, it would be a good idea to hang around outside town
and fight more monsters for a little bit, both to gain EXP and money.
Note some of the monsters around Highria have the ability to poison you,
so carry along a few B Antidotes with you in case you get affected.
Poison will gradually drain your HP and won't wear off until healed, so
be careful!

Once you are about level 11, you should have acquired enough money
to purchase the Steel Sword from the weapon shop. It will help you in
your journey through the Broww Tower. Purchase (and equip) it, then make
any last-minute preparations such as stocking up on a few salves, a
B Antidote or two, and some arrows. Now, let's head for Broww Tower,
to the west of Highria!

TOWER OF BROWW

Broww Tower is even more complicated than Gelve, as it contains three
floors instead of two. You'll see a stairway in the entrance room, but
ignore this for now. This section of the first floor is mainly just one
big loop, with stairways leading up in each of the four corners (you are
now in the lower-right). First, make your way to the stairway in the
upper-left by going left and just following the corridor. Once you reach
the upper-left corner, go upstairs, then go one east and one south, and
ascend another stairway up to floor 3. Once upstairs, go 2 rooms west,
then south to find a bag of Gold. Go back north, 1 room east, 2 rooms
south, 1 room west, then south to find a Pearl. Backtrack back to the
stairway, then go back down to the first floor.

Now make your way to the upper-right corner of the bottom floor, and
ascend this stairway back up to floor 2. Go one south, and one west, go
upstairs again, then go 1 east, 1 south, and 1 east to find a statue (which
is the only one in the tower, might I add). Push it, then backtrack to
the stairs (but don't go down just yet). Head 2 rooms north of the stairs
to pick up a Balm, then go back to the stairs and go back down to the
bottom floor once more. Now go to the bottom-left corner, ascend the
stairs, then go one north and one east, and climb back up to floor 3. The
four exits here were closed off by gates until you pushed the statue. =)

First, go one west and one south to pick up a Pearl, then go back to
the stairs and go 2 north, and 1 east to reach some stairs going back down.
Descend, and you'll be in the direct center of floor 2. Go one east, then
one south to pick up an Elixir (an item which restores ALL of your HP), then
go back north and down the stairs, back down to the bottom floor. Go one
east, then one south, and search the right-hand wall to find a secret passage
(I told you this game was cruel =p). Go up the stairs behind the hidden wall,
then go one east and one south, up the stairs here, then go one north,
2 west, 1 north, 1 west, then north along the passage until you reach the
boss... The Scissor Monster!

The Scissor Monster is aptly named, for it does look like a giant pair
of Scissors. To defeat it, first destroy all of the little scissors it throws
out at you. You can't hurt the monster himself at this point. Once all the
little scissors are out of the way, the monster will start chasing you around
the room, like the Red Dragon at Gelve did. Now you can hit him with your
sword or arrows... the preferred method would be to run around the outside
of the room and pelt him with arrows from a safe distance. He's really not
that hard. ^_^

Once the monster is out of the way, enter the room behind him to pick
up the treasure chest which contains the Ring. Now, continue out the north
door and you'll automatically exit the tower (which will also collapse). Now
go back to the Elder's house in Highria and he will congratulate you on a job
well done, and give you the Mysterious Seed. Now we can _finally_ repair that
bridge! But before doing so, take another power trip around Highria, fighting
monsters until you reach about level 13... by then you should have enough money
(after selling your Steel Sword at least) to purchase the Scimitar from the
weapon shop.

The bridge (as you've probably seen) is located to the south of Highria,
and to repair it, just stand on the edge of the bridge (where it is broken),
and use the Mysterious Seed. The bridge will magically be repaired! Now you
can cross and head over to Riria, the town of medicine!

Now that we're here, let's hurry and get that medicine! The Wonder
Capsule from the Hospital in the center of town is what we need to cure
the townspeople, so purchase one (they're only 10 Gold), then quickly head
back to Ehdo. Don't worry about any of the armors or anything just yet...
we can get them later elsewhere.

Hurry to the hospital with the medicine and the townspeople will be
saved! Head on back to the castle, but when you get there you'll suddenly
find that the King has been turned to stone! In order to restore him,
we'll have to destroy the monster that cast the spell on him! Everyone
in Ehdo seems to be talking about strange things that have been happening
around the townshipt of Somusa, so head back there and check things out.

Back in Somusa, everyone seems to be talking about a Goddess that is
said to live in the nearby lake. It is also said that someone dropped an
axe in the lake, and received a Golden Axe in return from the Goddess! If
you'll remember what the townspeople said earlier... the monster in the cave
can only be harmed by a weapon of Gold! Buy some arrows from the weapon
store, then go to the peninsula at the north end of the lake. Drop your
arrows into the lake and the Goddess will appear and bestow a Golden arrow
upon you! Now you can defeat the monster in the cave!

*NOTE* Don't just randomly drop items into the lake! If you throw
the wrong item into the lake, an old woman will appear and fine you 100
Gold for littering. :(

Head out for the cave to the northeast of Somusa and start your search.

CAVE NEAR SOMUSA

Yes, unfortunately, another cave. And it's even BIGGER than the last
one. Make sure you have your light and a battery or two, and since the
monsters in here and a bit tougher than others you've faced, be sure to
bring along a few salves, just in case. Also bring along a HyperSpeed...
you'll see why shortly. ;)

And the ugly ascii map of the cave....

As you can see, it's pretty big. Your target is the "O", where the
exit is located. Along the way you'll have to fight the cave's boss
monster, which is located at the "X". The monster is a bit more difficult
to kill than previous bosses as is quite a bit faster than you. This is
where you should use the HyperSpeed you bought (you DID buy one, didn't
you? :P) to help even the odds a little. Once again, pelt him with your
arrows and he should be dispatched after about 12 or so shots. Now that
the monster is defeated, make your way back to the exit of the cave, and
you'll find yourself on the next continent.

The next continent is quite big, so be careful not to get lost. Head
north, and soon you'll see a port to your east, but the sailor refuses to
let any foreigners board the ship (bah...). Our next destination is the
small town of Teodoor, located far to the west of this port. To get there,
head west to a large open area filled with desert, then walk across the
_very_ narrow peninsula in the northwest all the way around until you reach
the township.

TOWN OF TEODOOR

This town is very small, including only an inn and the house where the
Elder lives. You'll also notice a few of those strange "Gao" speaking
creatures (remember the one you saw near Highria?). The elder states that
a man-eating elephant on the nearby island is terrorizing the town, and
because of this the town cannot harvest any fruit on the island. Therefore
he asks you to travel to the island and take care of the monster.

Talk to the sailor in the port near the town, and he'll transport you
to the island for 40 Gold. Once in the island, head for the forest and
about in the middle you'll find the elephant. It's ridicously easy, just
stab it with your sword 5 or 6 times and it's history. Once that nuisance
is out of the way, sail back to Teodoor (40 gold... -mutter-) and speak
with the Elder. As thanks, the Elder will give you a translation machine
(...?) that will allow you to understand the "Gao" speak of the strange
creatures that inhabit the realm.

Our work here is done, so exit Teodoor and make your way back across
the narrow peninsula back to the open desert area. From there, head south
and across another peninsula, and you'll reach another large and open
desert area. On the south edge of this island, you'll find Tegza, the
township of the desert!

Great, more expensive equipment to buy. Have a look around town,
then I would say it's time to build up some money towards some of these
purchases. I recommend building up to level 15, and purchasing the
Iron Shield and Iron Bow from the shop. Most of the monsters around here
give pretty good amounts of gold, so you should have enough accumulated
plenty enough to make all these purchases by the time you hit level 15.
=)

The old man in the township will give you a letter, which you
can then give to the sailor in the port near the cave entrance
(remember the guy who wouldn't let you on board?). However, before
going there, purchase a pair of wings and scoot back to Highria and
pay a visit to the lizard man in the forest. This is Zelos, whom you
probably heard about in Teodoor. As thanks for visiting him and sending
him the regards of the townsfolk, he will give you the Super Armor, the
most powerful suit of armor in the realm! Wow!

Now, scoot back to the port near the cave entrance and talk to the
sailor there. Now that you have the letter, the sailor will offer you
passage on his ship, for 30 Gold. Hop on board and he'll take you
across the ocean. The continent you disembark on has many rivers
snaking through it every which way, making for a maze-like entanglement
of peninsulas to traverse. In other words, it's difficult to get around.
Your target is the town of Shilf, located on the southern part of the
continent, but getting to it will prove to be a pain. :(

Of particular notice in this town is the wide variety of magical
items for sale. The Magic Sede and Magic Saba allow you to use spells
in battle, while the individual Sede and Saba add spells to your counter
(1 sede/saba = 1 spell casting). The Jump Shoes allow you to jump while
in battle. The Magic Glasses allow you to see invisible things (such as
those !@#%@ invisible monsters that we all know and hate!!), and the
Bombs can be used as weapons in battle. I recommend purchasing
everything... all the items here are all it takes to fill up the six
'Item' slots that appear in battle! =)

Other than the town, there is one other thing on the island... the
North Tower, located in the north-east corner of this horrid island.
This is our next destination, but as was the case before, getting to it
will be easier said than done. The North Tower is tougher than the
other two towers we've explored up until now, so be sure to prepare
accordingly! Bring along several Poultice herbs from the Hospital to
ensure that you won't run out of HP in the tower (or on the way there...
urk).

NORTH TOWER

Though the North Tower is in theory the toughest dungeon you've
faced yet, you are at somewhat of an advantage now, thanks to your Ring
(which slowly regenerates your HP in battle or in dungeons), and your
Gold Arrow (which slowly generates arrows). Therefore, if your HP starts
running low, stay put for a while and let your Ring heal you up. =)

The North Tower consists of three floors, and contains two stone
statues. There are quite a few treasures to be found in the Tower, but
all in the form of Gold. From the entrance, go 1 north, 2 west, 1 south,
1 west, 1 south, 1 west, 1 south, then 1 west to find your first bag
of Gold. Now go 1 east, 2 north, and 1 west to reach a staircase leading
up. Take it up to floor 2, then go 1 south, 3 east, and 1 north to find
the first statue. Push it, then go 2 south, 3 west, then 2 north to
get back to the stairs, and go back down to floor 1.

*NOTE* The statue you just pushed opened all the gates leading
into the center of the bottom floor.

Now head 1 north, 1 west, 1 north, 1 west, and 1 north to find
another gold bag, then go 1 south, 2 east, 1 north, 1 east, 2 north,
then 1 west to find yet another gold bag. Now, head 1 east, 1 south,
1 east, 1 south, 1 east (ignore the staircase), 1 south, 2 east, then
1 north to reach one last gold bag. Now head for the center of the
floor by going 1 south, then 3 west. There are staircases in the room
to your left and south. Go left, then upstairs to floor 2. You'll
see more gates here, which are opened by the other statue. Go one
south, up the stairs to floor 3, then 2 west, 1 north, 1 west, and
1 north to reach (you guessed it) another gold bag. :)

From here, go 1 south, 1 east, 1 south, 1 west, 2 south, 1
east, then 1 north to reach the second statue, and push it. Now go
back to the stairs by going 1 south, 2 east, then 2 north, and
go back down to floor 2. Go 1 north, back down to floor 1, then
1 east, 1 south, and back up to floor 2 via this staircase. Go
1 north, then 2 east, and climb the stairs. Go 1 south to grab one
final gold bag, then go 3 north, 1 west, 2 south, then 1 west, and
down the stairs back down to floor 2. Go 1 south, 2 east, 1 south,
then 1 east and climb these stairs up to floor 3, then go straight
north until you reach the boss's room!

This boss is a bit tough, as he is fast has a habit of trapping
you in a corner. Just use your arrows to pelt him, and stab for all
you're worth with your sword if he gets close. If you start running
low on HP, use one of your Poultice herbs (obviously, he's not going
to sit around and wait for you to regenerate! :). Once the boss
is defeated, proceed to the room to the north and you'll find a
pair of Sky Shoes! Now, head north to exit the tower, which will
collapse.

In one of the towns, you may have heard about a lady shopkeeper
who lives in the mountains who will be able to send you up to the
Sky World. Now that you have the Sky Shoes, you can go there. The
lady shopkeeper (as you might have guessed) is the grumpy old lady
in the 'Forest of Confusion' near Ehdo which I mentioned near the
beginning of the adventure. Before heading there however, go back
to the town of Tegza (using Wings, preferably). Your run through
the tower probably netted you a lot of money, and by selling off your
Scimitar, you should have enough Gold to purchase the Fire Sword.
If not, just fight around outside Tegza until you do (it shouldn't
take long). :)

Once you're ready and prepared, fly back to Ehdo. Make your way
through the 'Forest of Confusion' (how annoying) until you reach the
old lady in the mountains. She'll transport you up to the Sky World!

THE SKY WORLD

*NOTE* Be sure not to walk off the clouds during your trip
through the Sky World. If you do you'll fall _all_ the way back down
and land in the Forest of Confusion. =p

The Sky World is somewhat large, but not really that bad. There
is also a building located near the south edge of the world where an
old man lives... he tells you that if you want to find the Magic Rope,
you need to "find the narrow hole and jump through it". You'll find
this hole in the northeast corner of the Sky World. There are
actually two holes... the one furthest to the northeast (the one
surrounded by white clouds) is the one you want to jump through. You'll
fall back down to Earth and land on a tiny island near Somusa, where
you will find the Magic Rope! Yay!

The Magic Rope (as you learned in Riria) will help you climb
mountains. And, coincidentally enough, there are a bunch of them to
the west of Riria. Climb up there and you will find the tiny townshop
of Zellia!

TOWN OF ZELLIA

Zellia consists of only one house, and a few wise men hanging
around outside. However, the old man in the house will reveal to you
that the princess as actually an impostor!! This is the Wizard's doing,
in an attempt to recover the ancient scrolls in order to rule Faria!
The old man will give you the Crystal of Truth, a magical item which
allows you to see through the illusion of the Phantom Towers, located
to the east of Somusa!

*NOTE* There is another township up on the mountains between
Highria and Karuza. However, the guard at the game will only allow
men to pass. This area is inaccessible for the time being.

Now head back to Somusa and prepare for another dungeon. Once
you have everything you need, head out for the Phantom Towers, which
are located to the east, past the mountains. Use the Crystal of Truth
in the midst of the six towers, and the true Phantom Tower will be
revealed!

PHANTOM TOWER

Ugh, what a pain! The Phantom Tower is one of those dungeons that
seems to stretch out endlessly in all directions, giving it a feel of
not having an end! You can easily wander around for hours in here, and
_still_ not find the exit!

*NOTE* The monsters in the Phantom Tower give rather good Experience
and Gold, and if you are high enough level, they will hit you and not even
deal any damage. I wandered around so much that by the time I found the
exit I was level 19 and had enough gold to purchase the Muramasa Sword.
I recommend you do this, as since you get such good Gold around here, ir
really shouldn't take all that long. ;)

But, if you know where you are going, the tower is sickeningly
simple. From the entrance room, go two rooms left, two rooms up, then
two rooms left. To the south is a box containing a HyperSpeed3, and to
the north is the boss. The boss is very similar to the one you fought
in the Cave of Somusa.. just pelt it with arrows and sword attacks and
you shouldn't have very much trouble at all defeating it. With the
HyperSpeed3, you'll have a speed advantage over him too!

After the boss is out of the way you will meet the "real" princess!
After rescuing her, you'll escape the tower which, following in the
tradition, will collapse. Now, return to Ehdo Castle immediately!

The confused guards at the castle will now let you in, so go up and
talk to the 'fake' princess. She will reveal herself as the wizard, and
attack!

The wizard is invisible, so switch to your magic glasses. You won't
be able to use arrows, but the wizard is ridiculously easy... he'll fall
after only a few stabs with your sword. Congratulations, the wizard is
dead! But as he dies he vows to exchange his soul to the body of a dragon,
where he will become immortal and be able to rule the world! As the
Wizard's curse is lifted, the spell on the King is broken... and you'll
also learn that the kingdom where the main character is from is the
kingdom you heard of before where all the men were turned into women! The
curse on you is also lifted, and you suddenly transform back into a man!

The Wizard has blocked out the sun in an attempt to freeze the people
of Faria to death, but there is still a chance to slay the Wizard before
he and the Dragon become one. Exit Ehdo castle and prepare for your final
task!

If you haven't done so yet, return to Tegza and purchase the Muramasa
Sword from the Weapon Shop. Now, remember the township that only men can
enter? Go back there, and now that you are a man (boy does that sound
strange), the guard will let you pass.

The township of Baig is the checkpoint between the continent to the
south, and the Ice Maze to the north. Beyond the Ice Maze is the Ice
Tower, where the Dragon lives!

Before heading out to the Ice Maze, there a few more pieces of
equipment to get here from town. The Phantom Tower was indeed a good
place to get gold, but it is now gone. Alternately, you can fight in
the Ice Maze, but you'll have to be careful as the monsters there can
rough you up a bit, as well as poison you. Try to raise enough money
to purchase the Steel Shield and Cross Bow before heading out. This
is pretty much the best equipment in the game. Also get rid of any
old items that you can, and stock up on as many Elixirs as you can
carry, plus a W Antidote or two in case you get poisoned. The
challenge ahead is the toughest yet, and you'll certainly need them!

*NOTE* If for some reason you haven't obtained the Jump Shoes yet,
be sure you do before heading out to the Ice Maze. You will need them
to get through the Final Tower!

ICE MAZE

Just when you thought the game couldn't possibly get any worse, here
comes the Ice Maze. The Ice Maze is comprised of a mulitude of caverns
connected togeher in one large network, with the Final Tower in the direct
center. Since a map of this area would be all but impossible, I'll attempt
to walk you through the caverns. If you don't know where you're going
the Ice Maze is simply enormous, but it is very short if you do. ;)

As you first cross the bridge onto the large island that is the Ice
Maze, there are two accessible caverns, one just to your left, and one
further to the north. Enter the one to the north, and then climb the
stairs just to the left to get back out. You'll come out in a small area
with 3 caves... you just came out of the right one. Go in the center one,
then take a few steps to the south and east, and climb the next set of
stairs. Back outside, go in the cavern just to your east, then take a
few steps to the south and east, and climb the next set of stairs. From
here it's a short and straight-forward path to the Final Tower!

FINAL TOWER

We're not done yet. The Final Tower is just like all the other towers
(with the exception of that blasted Phantom Tower) in that it tends to
be a large, annoying dungeon. Many of the rooms are covered in ice
and getting around will be difficult, especially if you got the HyperSpeed3
from the Phantom Tower. I recommend equipping your Jump Shoes for better
control. And remember, your Ring slowly heals HP over time, so if you
start running low on HP, stay put for a little while and let yourself heal.

*NOTE* There are lots of treasures in the Final Tower, most in the
form of expensive gems. However, since this is the final dungeon and you
already have the best equipment, this is pretty much useless. Go figure.

Like most dungeons, the Final Tower is fairly quick if you know where
you are going. From the entrance, go 5 west, then 2 north, and up the
stairs. To the north is a Salve should you wish to get it. Now go
1 south, 1 east, then 2 north, then back down to floor one. Now go 1
west, 4 north, then 2 east, and up these stairs back up to floor two.
Go 1 left, then 1 south. To the west and south is a Garnet if you
want to pick it up. Go 2 east, and down the stairs back down to the
bottom floor.

Go 1, north, 4 east, then 2 south, back up to floor 2 once more, then
3 west, 2 south, then 1 west, and up these stairs to floor 3. Now go
2 left, 1 south, 1 left, then 1 south, and climb the stairs to floor 4.
Once on the top floor, go all the way north and all the way east to meet
the Dragon! Before the fight begins heal yourself fully and equip your
Jump Shoes. Then walk up to the Dragon, and it will congratulate you
on coming this far, and then attack! The Dragon will breathe streams of
fire at you, which you can usually jump over with your Shoes. To damage
the Dragon, you'll have to jump up and strike it in its head. The Dragon
isn't too tough, but it does a lot of damage, and if it backs you up
against the wall, you're in big trouble. At level 20 with the Muramasa
sword, it will probably take 7 hits to kill the Dragon.

Once it's defeated, jump down into the pit and pick up the Legendary
Sword! Then exit the Tower via the door to the north. The tower will
crumble, and the evil magic blocking the sun will dissipate, bring light
to Faria once again. Unfortunately, you are still in the middle of the
Ice Maze. If you don't have a pair of Wings you'll have to walk, just
try not to get lost on your way back. =P

*NOTE* You'll no longer fight random encounters from this point
onward. This makes the trip back not so bad, as long as you don't get
lost. ;)

Head back to Ehdo Castle and report to the King. And now, all that's
left to do is sit back and watch the ending! Congratulations... you've
finished the game! Now that wasn't so bad, was it? -runs away-

Start a new game and enter 'GaoGao' as your name, and you'll start with a
super-charged character! However this makes the game entirely too easy, so
I recommend only trying it out once you've completed the game normally. =)
