While playing Gran Turismo 3 A-spec, I noticed that the game had an
amazing amount of information on each individual car. Thereafter, I noticed
that no FAQs or walkthroughs covered it. So I took matters into my own hands
and made the Car Information Database that you see here.
The descriptions of each company and car are taken directly from the
game, and the cars are sorted as they are in-game. As of now this guide
doesn't have any of my own notes or strategies for each car. Could that be in
the future? Possibly. I may even include some charts comparing the cars. As
of now, enjoy what information I have included. So far.
Feel free to send in any information that I don't have to my e-mail
address (sdornan@ebicom.net), but before you do, make sure that it is 100%
correct. If you send me information I don't yet have, I'll credit you in the
credits section. If you decide to contribute something, please tell me what
car it is by using the numbered system in my guide. For example, if you
wanted to provide information on the Jaguar XJ220 Road Car, you'd say 22-2.
22 being the company, Jaguar, and 2 being the car, XJ220 Road Car. The
numbers of each car are listed to the left of their names.
Version 2.45 - 9/6/01 :
* Very small update.
* Most of Fantasy Cars are in.
* Fixed some formatting problems.
* Added a frequently asked questions (FAQs) section.
Version 2.4 - 9/3/01 :
* Yeah, I know I said updates will occur more often, but they haven't. Sorry,
I'll try to do better.
* Added specs for a few Honda cars.
* Put in stats for the Opel Astra Touring Car.
* Added some specs for the Mercedes-Benz CLK Touring Car.
Version 2.3 - 8/17/01 :
* I know that there have not been many updates lately, but it's because I've
been on vacation. Sorry. Updates should occur more often from now on.
* Greatly changed the Toyota line-up.
* Added the specs for the F090/S!
* Added stats for the Toyota GT-One Road Car.
* Put in information about the RUF 3400 S.

Honda's Acura division takes on the world's
sport-luxury coupes with the 3.2 CL Type S. It combines

no lack of preformance ability.

sports car built with all of Honda's technical expertise, and
is sold under the Acura nameplate in the US. Honda started
the Acura brand in the United States in 1986 in order to
distinguish new luxury models from its more traditional North
American offerings. Other Japanese manufacturers later
followed Honda's lead and established their own luxury
marques.

8. ASTON MARTIN
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Combine the name of company founder Lionel Martin and the Aston
Clinton hillclimb where an early car had success, and you get Aston Martin.
The company has built fast and desirable cars since 1914. Ownership has
changed many times and it is now owned by Ford.
8-1. DB7 Vantage Coupe (2000)
The distinguished British car manufacturer Aston
Martin positions the DB7 Vantage at the top end of their
models based on the DB7, which was introduced in November
1994. "Vantage" is a traditional Aston Martin name given only
to their high performance versions, and this one, although
based on the DB7, has been given a considerable performance
boost over the normal DB7.

10. BMW
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
BMW was originally founded as an aircraft/engine factory in 1916 in
Munich, Germany. Facination is therefore a company-tradition. It has always
been the desire of BMW to create the ultimate driving machine, products of
unmistakable identity, which has been no problem in the past eight decades.
10-1. 328 Ci (1999/Arcade)
A new generation of the BMW 3-Series, called E46 by
BMW Insiders, debuted in 1999. While there was only a sedan
model at the time of its debut, a two-door coupe was added
for 2000. It has the 'Ci' designation, BMW way of indicating
that it is a coupe.

Now called DaimerChrysler after a merger with Daimer-Benz of Germany,
this American firm was founded in Detroit in 1923. The DaimerChrysler group
also has the Dodge brand under its wings.
12-1. PT Cruiser (2000/Arcade)
Is it a car? Or is it a truck? The Chrysler PT
Cruiser is both and neither. It's truly an original
new-category vehicle from the company that invented the
minivan. The PT Cruiser hides minivan-like versatility and
an amazing amount of space under its street rod retro-chic
exterior. It's more about style than absolute speed, but the
PT Cruiser is quick enough to be fun and handles much better
than any minivan or small SUV.

The Dodge brothers started the company in the early 1900s, and
Chrysler bought it in 1928. Muscle cars like the Charger gave it fame in the
1960s. It is still the performance part of DaimerChrysler, with Vipers to
prove the point.
15-1. Viper GTS (1998)
A prototype Viper was unveiled at the 1989 Detroit
Motor show, and the production version was released in 1992,
three years later. Carroll Shelby, the father of the
legendary American sports car, the Cobra, participated in the
development process, hinting at the character of this car.
Naturally its name and its glamorous wide & low form are
suggestive of reptiles.

17. FIAT
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Fiat - an acronym for Fabbrica Italiana Automobili Torino - was
founded in 1899 by a group of investors, among them Giovanni Agnelli. The
company now owns Alfa Romeo, Lancia, Maserati and Ferrari and is one of the
most powerful manufacturers in the world. But Fiat has never meant
automobiles alone. Over the years it has developed a wide variety of
activities and products, ranging from agricultural and construction machinery
to aviation equipment, commercial vehicles and production systems.

18-1. Mustang SVT Cobra R (2000/Arcade)
In celebration of its 35th anniversary, the 1999 SVT
Cobra got some "New Edge" makeover as other Mustangs, and an
increase in power. But, most importantly, for the first time,
the SVT Cobra has independent rear suspension (IRS) for
significantly improved handling, especially on bumpy roads.
This is a first in the "pony car" class, and also makes the
SVT Cobra one of the few rear-wheel drive America cars to
ever use independent rear suspension

20-1. CR-X Del Sol SiR (1995)
While the previous generation CR-X was a front-wheel
drive sports hatch with a "peaky" personality, the version
which appeared in February 1992 got the nickname 'Del-Sol'
appended its CR-X designation, and a greatly changed image.
It became a fashionable open top two-seater. Although it
remained with a front-engine, front-wheel drive layout, it
had the look of a mid-engined car.

to any input is nearly instantaneous. With an engine that
celebrates Honda's heritage in auto and motorcycle racing,
the S2000 is a high-tech take on the classic sports roadster

There can be no more doubt that the Eunos Roadster (Mazda
Miata in the US) carved out a unique niche as the car that
revived the sports roadster. It has now become the open
sports car by which all others are judged. The Eunos Roadster
made its appearance in March 1989 at the Chicago Auto Show
under the name "Miata/MX-5" for the US market, and went on
sale in its "hometown" of Japan in September. At the time,
lightweight two-seater convertibles seemed extinct. The few
that were still in production were relics of the 60's and
70's. But suddenly, Mazda of Japan put this car in the ring
and forever changed automotive history.

550HP. The world media has described it as the Patek Phillippe of the GT
cars. It has an acceleration of 0-100 in 3.7 seconds - best among the fully

Although some may argue that RUF simply modifies the products of a
famous German sports car maker, the transformation of its road cars is so
complete that the company is an offical car maker in its own right.
36-1. 3400 S (2000/Arcade)
The company Ruf GmbH founded by Alois Ruf is easily
mistaken for a simple tuner that modifies cars built by other
manufacturers. But it is a full-fledged automaker, having
acquired its certification as an automobile manufacturer from
the German government. The 3400 S model produced by Ruf is a
complete machine based on a famous sports car manufacturer's
mid-engined model.

British AC chassis with 4.2-liter Ford V8 engines - the legendary Cobra. He
then moved on to tuning Mustangs until 1970. Subsequently, Shelby worked with
several other manufacturers, running racing programs or making
high-performance versions of their cars. He is currently building the Shelby
Series 1 sports car.

reason.

Here I will answer any questions that you ask me. More to come.
Q. WHAT CAR SHOULD I START WITH?
A. This is the question I get asked the most by far, but it has a simple
answer: you choose. Don't ask people how to play the game or what to buy.
If you want a '97 Honda NSX, go for it. If you'd rather have a Volkswagen
New Beetle, fine. Don't ask people how to play your game, play it
yourself.
Q. HOW DO I GET THE LAMBORGINI DIABLO/NOMAD?
A. You can't. It's only it the Japanese version of the game.
Q. CAN YOU ADD THE INFORMATION FOR (INSERT CAR HERE) TO THE DATABASE?
A. Sure. Just tell me which car(s).
Q. CAN I TYPE UP SOME OF THE CAR SPECS FOR YOU TO INSERT IN YOUR DATABASE?
A. By all means! Do as many as you want. Do all of them. Saves me work and
gets the database completed quicker.
