Victar's Persona Rankings, version 2.0

For complete Persona spell lists, exact attributes, mythological background,
who can use what Persona, etc. I recommend consulting either the Persona
strategy guide or the Persona FAQ. This is just *my* take on the individual
Personas, or at least the ones I played, and how they stand up to demons and
bosses. In deciding whether to recommend a Persona, I take into account

a) the power/usefulness of its spells (with regard to its level)
b) the boost it gives your stats (again, with regard to its level)
c) its ability to resist magic
d) how it stands up to bosses and/or the tougher demons
e) whether you get permanently useful stuff or junk if you delete it at level 8
f) whether it can talk a demon out of its spell card

Note that I count almost all one-use magic items, from a Paracure to a LifeOrb
to a Nukestone, as "junk." That's because, well, one use and they're gone. IMO,
items you get from deleting Personas are "worthwhile" only if they are
weapons/armor that are stronger than what you can find/buy by the end of the
game, Essence that gives you a permanent stat boost, special items needed to
create hidden Personas, or a powerful __stone/__rock that you can't buy at the
casino (such as the ElixStone you get for deleting RacSha).

There are three Personas in the game that you had darn well *ought* to
cultivate no matter what. They are Halo (lvl 18), Remy (lvl 21), and Azrael
(lvl 36). These Personas will keep you alive vs. most the nastiest demons in
the game, and they are tough enough to stand up to Pandora herself.

If you make it up to the higher levels (and you might not, if you're charging
through the game quickly or with help from a strategy guide - it's possible to
beat the game with a party whose average level is around 48), then some more
boss-worthy Personas are Succubus (lvl 53), Allmighty (lvl 55), Jester (lvl
59), Alfred (lvl 60), & St. Michael (lv 62).

I'll tell you why I recommend these Personas, and my thoughts on many other
Personas, below. I'm only commenting on the Personas I've played (which is
almost, but not all of them). Note that you won't have the chance to create
Personas above level 70 or so unless you want to engage in some form of
"levelling up" near the end of the game. The party for my first game finished
everything when they were around level 70 - and I mean *everything*, talked to
every person, stepped on every square of every dungeon, the whole deal. You
simply aren't going to get your party above that level unless you either do a
*lot* of pointless charging around in circles just to kill things for
experience, or you use a GameShark.

If you make a Persona with a Nukestone or a GlaciRock or something like that,
it will automatically gain the appropriate spell when it reaches second level,
which is to say, after one use in battle (unless the spell is the opposite of
the Persona's attribute - so don't use a Holystone when making an Evildark
Persona and expect it to know Holyest). In this way, you can give even the
suckiest Persona a good attack spell and make it worth the bother. Only
"__rocks" or "__stones" will guarantee the bonus spell, so don't make a Persona
with a Lifeorb and expect it to know ReviveMore. You can get weak-to-medium
strength __rocks/__stones by killing various demons, or by trading gems at the
gem shop. The strongest rocks and stones can be won from certain demons
(PaleRider, Yaksha, Chronos), purchased at the casino after you finish Deva
Yuga, or obtained from deleting certain stage 8 Personas.

The catch is that since you can add only one item when making a Persona, you
can't use this trick to give a bonus spell to "hidden" Personas that require a
special item in their fusion, or to Personas that you make with a gemstone. It
is possible to give such Personas (or ordinary Personas that aren't made with a
__rock/__stone) a bonus second level spell, if you go to self-service and use a
demon combination that makes an up-arrow or a right-arrow. The order in which
you summon the demons plays a role in this, and the phase of the moon might do
so as well. For example, if you make Hera with a Karen & a Dribbler (in that
order), a combination which registers as a blue up-arrow in self-service, Hera
will have the second-level bonus spell Blinding Light. But there's no guarantee
you'll get a bonus spell, and no guarantee that the bonus spell will be any
good...

Victar's Persona rating:

**** = Superior Persona. Make this Persona or weep, you FOOL!!!! ;-)
***1/2 = Excellent Persona. Very strong and useful (for its level). Make it.
*** = Good Persona. Worth making.
**1/2 = Average Persona. Not great, but its spells are OK, and it may have a
useful/cool application such as talking a demon out of its spell card, or being
deleted for a worthwhile item, or casting a spell that few (if any) other
Personas have.
** = Lame Persona. Its magic is poor, but at least you can make it talk to a
demon/delete it for something good.
*1/2 = Sucky Persona. (Almost) no worthwhile magic, and you get junk for
deleting it, but at least it might look cool.
* = Bottom-of-the-barrel Persona: no redeeming qualities whatsoever. Don't even
bother.

4 Trickster Hierophant
[strong against magic]

You need the Hell Book to make him. If you want him, buy the Hell Book from a
Judgement 1999 before you finish Sebec, because after you complete Sebec, you
won't be able to buy another Hell Book from Judgement 1999 until so late in the
game that this low-level Persona is useless (specifically, not until after you
finish Deva Yuga).
Trickster isn't that great a Persona; his only real use are the DEF Up and
STR Up spells, which are helpful vs. bosses. But Virgo & Nike also have DEF Up,
and both are much more useful Personas at low levels. STR Up is Trickster's
best spell (try using it vs a boss, and you'll see how much it boosts your
attack power) - too bad he doesn't get it until level 8. But the next lowest
Persona with STR Up is Azrael (lvl 36), whom you might not be strong enough to
use until you reach Deva Yuga...
You get junk for deleting Trickster (Parastone).

Rating: **1/2

5 Pixie Lovers
[reflect wind, weak against physical]

A weak, early-level Persona useable by everyone but Chris. In fact, she's so
weak that it's difficult to create her with just spell cards; you'll probably
need to use a gem in the fusion too (Aquastone worked for me). Her 8th-level
Flash spell is a moderately strong attack for such a low-level Persona, and she
will give a strong boost to your Luck parameter, but there are really only two
reasons to bother cultivating her. One is the thrill of contacting a Pixie
demon with this persona equipped and watching her take over (worked for me when
the moon was 3/8 full). The other is so you can delete her for LUKEssence.

Rating: **

5 Shaman Chariot
[reflect gravity, weak against spirit]

Mark's starter Persona. Only Mark can use him. (If for some reason you want to
make Shaman, try using gems with any combination that makes Chariot class).
He's useful only early in the game. You may as well grow him to level 8 so you
can delete him for HPEssence, but there's no other reason to bother. His
weakness against spiritual attacks (Holylight & Evildark magic) will get Mark
killed real fast once you reach the Demon School dungeon ("St. Hermelin???").

Rating: **

5 Starion Emperor
[reflect wind, weak against physical]

Main's starter Persona. Only Main can use him. (If for some reason you want to
make Starion, try using gems with any combination that makes Emperor class).
You may as well grow him to level 8 so you can delete him for STREssence, but
there's no other reason to bother. Sure, he reflects wind, but his spells are
too weak to be useful except for early in the game.

Rating: **

5 Maria Priestess
[absorb chill, weak against fire]

Mary's starter Persona. Only Mary can use her. (If for some reason you want to
make Maria, try using gems with any combination that makes Priestess class).
Maria is worth keeping around as a "backup" persona long after Mary is strong
enough to switch to other active Personas, because Maria has the Poison Cure
spell. Every once in a while, a monster will poison you, or Main will set off a
poison trap while looking for loot, and it's nice not to have to rely
exclusively on hauling poison-cure items around (but carry a few anyway,
because there are times when Mary will leave your party).
Maria's Multi Bow spell is devastating early in the game (keep Mary at the
back of your party to get the most out of it), and her 8th-level Freezer spell
will also help you out enormously vs. Tiny (the first boss) & friends. After
you finish Sebec, you'll be ready to keep Maria in reserve while Mary tries out
stronger Personas, though. You can delete Maria for SPEssence, but since spell
points regenerate so quickly when you're walking around, SPEssence isn't
terribly useful.
One more note about Maria - she does get the Cure spell very early. So do
Yuki's and Ellen's starter personas, but Yuki will leave before Mary joins, and
you might not choose to have Ellen for your fifth member. So, if you don't want
Ellen in your final party, be *sure* you don't delete Maria until *after* you
get another Persona with healing magic, such as Virgo or Halo. You will need to
heal your party of many wounds throughout the game; while spell points
regenerate quickly, hit points do not, and items such as herbs cost money that
is much better spent on upgrading your weapons & armor, or buying Life Orbs &
M-Guards...

Rating: **1/2

6 Vesta Empress
[absorb fire, weak against spirit]

Yuki's starter Persona. Only Yuki can use her. (If for some reason you want to
make Vesta, try using gems with any combination that makes Empress class). If
you're playing the American version of Persona, there is very little point in
growing Vesta to level 8, because Yuki leaves your party before the Velvet Room
opens (i.e. before you can delete Vesta for Zoma) and you can't get Yuki back.
If you're playing the Japanese version of Persona, you can get Yuki back in the
Snow Queen Quest; see the Persona FAQ for more information.

Rating: **1/2 (like it matters...)

6 Voodoo Hierophant
[strong against magic, weak against attack]

Nate's starter Persona. Only Nate can use her. (If for some reason you want to
make Voodoo, try using gems with any combination that makes Hierophant class).
She's worth keeping in the background a little longer than certain other
starter Personas, because she can cast MAG Up (useful vs the first two bosses
because it boosts your magic attack power) and Holywhite (somewhat useful vs
the first two bosses, also good for killing low-level Evildark demons). Delete
her for VITEssence when you're done with her.

Rating: **1/2

7 Nike Judgement
[no effect against magic, weak against attack]

Ellen's starter Persona. Only Ellen can use her. (If you want to make her, use
the Teddy Bear with any combo that makes Judgement class - you can find the
Teddy Bear in the Lost Forest). Her attack spells are effective only early in
the game (try using Light on Evildark demons for best results), and her Cure
spell will only tide you over until you make Virgo or Halo. The best thing I
can say about Nike is that she's immune to magic; only Evildark spells can hurt
her. The second best thing is that you can contact the Angel demons (in Sebec)
and watch Nike take over. You'll probably just want to delete Nike for
TECEssence when you're done with her, but note that you won't be able to do so
unless you allow Ellen to permanently join your party (look for Ellen in the
subway) - the Velvet Room doesn't open until after you've taken Mary's mother
to the school.

Rating: ***

8 Fury Magician
[weak against physical]

Alana's starter Persona. Only Alana can use her. (If you want to make her, use
the Earth Seed with any combo that makes Magician class - you can find the
Earth Seed in Sebec.) Her offensive magic is strong for a starter persona,
particularly her 8th-level spell RedFire. But if you delete her, all you get is
a Life Orb.

Rating: **1/2

8 Talon Justice
[absorb wind, weak against spirit]

Brad's starter Persona. Only Brad can use him. (If you want to make him, use
the Gift Box with any combo that makes Justice class - you can find the Gift
Box in Sebec.) His offensive magic isn't that great, but he looks cool, and
he's worth growing to 8th level so that you can delete him for AGLEssence.

Rating: **1/2

10 Jack Frost Lovers
[reflect chill, weak against physical]

A weak, low-level Persona useable by everyone but Chris. His Chill All is an
effective attack spell early in the game (just watch out for monsters that
reflect it), and Sweet Trap is great fun to play with (see if you can count how
many different objects drop from the sky :), but the rest of his spells are
useless. The only real reasons to bother are so you can delete him for
LUKEssence, or so you can watch him talk a JackFrost/Jack O' demon into giving
up its spell card.

Rating: **1/2

10 Guni Devil
[strong against everything]

Chris' starter Persona. Only Chris can use him. (If you want to make him, use
the Lapel with any combo that makes Devil class - you can find the Lapel in the
Lost Forest.) Because he is "Strong against everything," he is a good defensive
Persona to have, and because he is Evildark, you don't have to worry about
Toiletkids, Remys, Lips, or worse killing him with curse magic. In fact, he is
easily the strongest starter Persona (which is only to be expected, since if
you want Chris in your party you won't get him until well after you finish
Sebec). His attack magic is weak, though (with the exception of Curse vs.
Holylight demons).
Probably the most fun thing about Guni is that he is one of two Personas
with the Attack Back (puts chars into a good status that lets them get a free
counter attack whenever hit with a physical attack). This spell is great vs.
bosses, against whom you usually want all the attacks you can get, and it's
just plain cool to see in action. If you want Attack Back, then you should
probably try to get Chris in your party, because the *only* other Persona that
knows it is Tenji of the Fool class - and Fool class Personas are created only
through random, accidental mishaps during fusion.
You get a Nukestone for deleting Guni. Use the Nukestone in fusion to create
a Persona with the powerful Nukemore spell at 2nd-level...

Rating: ***1/2

10 Ven Sun
[no effect against wind, weak against gun]

A weak, low-level Persona useable by everyone. He's so weak that he's difficult
to make with just spell cards; you may have to try adding gems to a fusion that
makes Sun class. His offensive magic is pathetic, he defensive power sucks, and
you get junk (PoisonCure) for deleting him. You're better off growing the
starter Personas to their final level instead, at which point you'll be ready
to switch to much more effective Personas, such as Halo or Hellcat. The only
reason to bother with Ven is if you really, really like birds - Ven does look
kinda cool.

Rating: *1/2

11 Virgo Priestess
[strong against magic]

She is an excellent low-level Persona to cultivate, because she starts off with
the Cure All spell. She's the earliest Persona to know a spell that heals your
whole party at once (next lowest is Halo at level 18, with Heal All). Her
offensive magic is pitiably weak, but the whole point of having one char cast
Cure All is that so all the other chars can take the offensive. Furthermore, an
individual char can gain lots of experience by casting mass-healing spells in a
fight, even if the entire party is perfectly healthy. Cure All will keep you
alive early in the game, especially when Kimono demons reduce you to 1 hit
point with Bi Strike, or when you fight the first boss (Tiny & friends) and he
shoots you up but good. However, you will need Halo's stronger Heal All spell
to keep you alive once you finish Sebec (if not earlier). While Virgo is a very
handy interim Persona, she's no long-term substitute for Halo.
In fact, once Halo has learned Heal All there's not much point in bothering
to cultivate Virgo to 8th level. (You don't get anything good for deleting her,
just a PetraCure). Unless, of course, you really want to see her 8th-level
spell SexyDance... she, um, flashes the demons (her back is turned to you,
though, just to keep the game rated PG-13 or whatever. :)
You can delete Virgo for a Petrify Cure. Use it in fusion if you really want
to make a Persona with the PetraCure spell.

Rating: ****

12 Pawn Emperor
[reflect tremor, weak against physical]

An average, low-level Persona that probably isn't worth it. Sure, he can learn
the Quake All spell (medium Earth damage), and you can delete him for an
IronBlade (a medium strength sword for Nate, though eventually you'll find
better swords), but the rest of his spells are useless and he does little for
your stats.

Rating: **1/2

14 1x1 Magician
[reflect chill, weak against physical]

A good low-level Persona. She gives your agility a nice boost. Her Chill All
and Ice All spells are very helpful early in the game because they not only
damage demons, but also have a good chance of sending them into bad status:
frozen. You don't get anything good for deleting her, though (just an Illcure -
use it in fusion to make a Persona with the Illcure spell).

Rating: ***1/2

15 Rain Empress
[absorb tremor, weak against spirit]

An utterly pathetic low-level Persona. All she has are offensive spells, and
they are all pitiably weak offensive spells. You don't get anything good for
deleting her either (just a Paracure - use it in fusion to make a Persona with
the Paracure spell). Don't even bother.

Rating: *

16 Hellcat Hermit
[no effect against tackle, weak against whip]

Here, kitty, kitty, kitty! Hellcat is an excellent low-level Persona useable by
all characters - do yourself a favor and make him ASAP. His offensive magic is
good; Ice/Icy can both hurt demons and send them into bad status, while
PetriNail can do serious damage, especially to demons that are weak against
physical attacks. He gives your TEC parameter a huge boost, turning
Main's/Brad's machine gun into an engine of death. Try Hellcat + PetraNail to
make short work of the third boss (the Yoga demon). All this and he looks just
plain awesome too! ^_^
But perhaps the most useful thing about Hellcat, especially early the game,
is that he's the lowest-level Persona that reflects Nerve magic (i.e. all
spells/songs/dances that deliberately inflict Temporary Bad Status). Put
whoever has Hellcat up front and center in your party's formation, and watch
the fun as the demons who try to charm you end up dazzled by their own magic.
Later in the game - say, when you finish the Karma Palace if not before -
Hellcat won't be strong enough against spells like Extinct to keep active. But
you may want to fall back on his help when you're up against the second-to-last
boss (Guido in Deva Yuga); when Guido tries to trap your party with Bind, or
send them into a frenzy with PanicVoice, you'll want at least a couple Personas
that are immune. So don't bother to delete Hellcat for a GlaciRock until after
Deva Yuga, unless you really want to use the GlaciRock in fusion & make a
Persona with the Glacier spell at 2nd level.

Rating: ****

17 Hive World
[strong against attack, weak against magic]

His offensive spells are moderately good, but the fact that he is weak against
magic will get you killed real fast. Who cares if he's strong against attack?
Assuming you're careful enough to upgrade your armor every chance you get, it's
not the demons' physical attacks that will kill you - it's their magic spells,
every time. So there's not really an overwhelming reason to bother with Hive,
unless you really, really like giant insectoid fireworms...
You can trade Hive in for a GishinRock; use it to make a Persona that
knows Gishin (maximum earth damage, a group of enemies) early in the game.

Rating: **1/2

17 Shogi Hierophant
[strong against magic]

He may be strong against magic, but so are lots of better Personas, and Shogi's
spells suck. I mean, *really* suck. The only one that can actually hurt demons
is Holy Bound, and it won't do much (you're better off attacking with a sword
or a gun). This is one lame Persona. Sure, you can trade him in for a
MegaGlove, but even if Chris is in your party, the IronClaw (which you can win
from demons early in the game) is a better weapon anyway. Shogi just plain
sucks, that's all there is to it.

Rating: *

18 Vortek Chariot
[reflect blast, weak against spirit]

If you have the patience to grow him to level 8, you'll be rewarded with the
NukeMore spell (and if you don't think that's a good attack spell, wait until
the RoboRat boss uses it to wipe out half your party. :) All you get for
deleting him is a ForceRock, though, and his weakness against spiritual attacks
is a Bad Thing.

Rating: ***

18 Halo Judgement
[no effect against magic, weak against attack]

Halo is *the main man* of Persona. He is the one Persona you will, repeat
*WILL* need to make in order to survive the game. With Halo around, you can get
by on all sorts of funky combinations of other Personas, even some Personas
that suck. Why is Halo so great? Two words: Heal All. Halo is the lowest level
Persona to learn this spell (next is Deva, level 29), and you'll need to get
your hands on it ASAP. Even when you do get other Personas with Heal All,
you'll want to at least keep Halo in the background anyway, because his Heal
All costs fewer spell points to cast (so it's cheaper to heal your party after
the fight is over). Also, you don't get anything too good for deleting Halo,
just a SonicRock.
Heal All alone would *easily* make Halo the most valuable low-level Persona
to have, but he's even better than that. He's immune to magic (except Evildark
spells such as Curse, MoreDead, & Extinct) - perhaps also weak against attack,
but I've said it before and I'll say it again, physical attacks are *not* what
will kill you in this game. When demons slam you with GlacierAll followed by an
electrical storm that hits your party for 200-300 points of damage, you will be
extremely grateful that Halo is around to save your butt. His STRDrop can be
helpful against bosses that use physical attacks, such as Tiny or the Harem
Queen. As a final bonus, his 8th-level RedFire spell is a strong attack,
especially against demons that are weak against fire or magic.
Halo may be only level 18, but he can stand up and protect your party
throughout the entire game - yes, even against Pandora herself. Everyone except
Alana and Chris can use Halo, but you're best off giving Halo to Mark, because
Mark has the most hit points and is therefore most likely to survive long
enough to heal your party (while weaker chars such as Mary might die before
they can save themselves & everyone else). But do give Halo to Mary when Mary &
Main are all alone in the Soul Cave - that way Mary can heal Main, while Main
takes the offensive.

Rating: ****

18 Crosscut Priestess
[absorb fire, weak against chill]

She's a lame Persona. Sure, she can learn Revive, but you're better off buying
some LifeOrbs instead. Sure, she has 8th-level BlueFire, but lots of other
Personas have as good or better attack spells available to them early. The rest
of her spells suck, and you don't get anything good for deleting her
(ReviveRock). Not really worth it.

Rating: **

19 Dark Rider Justice
[reflect ray, weak against spirit]

His attack magic is weak to okay, nothing great, though Flash All works best
when combined with another Persona's Ice magic. His weakness against spirit
attacks is bad, and you'll quickly outgrow him anyway. You don't get anything
good for deleting him either (just a Cobrastone).

Rating: **

20 Jack O' Lovers
[reflect fire, weak against physical]

He's a so-so low-level Persona - sweet trap is just plain fun to play with, and
Blaze is a nice attack. But he's not that great. You can delete him for an Iron
Mask, big whoop - you'll be able to buy better head gear later in the game
anyway. The best thing I can say about him is that it's fun to watch him talk a
Jack O'/Jack Frost demon into coughing up its spell card.

Rating: **

21 Remy Moon
[absorb magic, weak against attack]

She is an excellent Persona, useable only by male characters. Make her as soon
as you can use her. Her attack spells may be useless except for Poison Pin (up
to 60 points of physical damage, usually), Dead (lethal to Holylight demons)
and maybe CandyVoice (useful against a very few enemies, such as SM: Blackman).
But that's not Remy's strength. She is a very good Persona because she Absorbs
magic (it actually heals her host) - and since she is Evildark, she is immune
to spells like Extinct that threaten to wipe out your whole party. Only
Holylight magic such as Holyest or Light All will hurt/kill her. And she boosts
your luck parameter a lot, too.
Because of these strengths, Remy will keep you alive against the monsters
that are most likely to kill you, while you charge in to attack with your
sword/gun/whatever. She will keep Main alive when it's just Main and Mary in
the Soul Cave (unless you fight a Yaksha or something else that knows Holyest -
in which case, change Personas quick :). She reflects Nerve Magic, too, so
you'll want to move her front & center once the demons get too tough for the
Hellcat Persona. So she's weak against attacks - so what? The only physical
attack that particularly risks killing Remy is Pandora's WingFlap (that's right
- Remy is good enough to take vs. Pandora herself; just stay out of WingFlap
range. :) It's also terrific fun to watch Remy talk a Remy demon out of her
Spell Card.
You can delete Remy for a stupid, miserable, worthless Illstone if you
really want to. My advice is: don't. The next lowest level Persona to absorb
magic is Succubus (lvl 53), and you may well be up against the final boss
before you gain that much experience.

Rating: ****

22 Sumi Star
[absorb tremor, weak against ray]

An excellent, very powerful offensive Persona useable only by women. His
Holywhite and Eternity spells will immediately wipe out just about every demon
you meet up to Castle Mana - and even in Castle Mana, you may want his
offensive power if your party is too low-level to call upon stronger Personas.
Perhaps the best thing about him, though, is that once you're done with him you
can delete him for a Holy Axe - an excellent weapon for Mark. Make this
Persona.

Rating: ****

23 Brax Emperor
[absorb attack]

You need the Pentagon to make him, so buy it from a Judgement 1999 before you
finish Sebec, or else you won't be able to buy another until after you finish
Deva Yuga (and the demons have grown so strong that this Persona doesn't do so
well against them). He is the only Persona in the game to absorb physical
attacks. Which would be more useful if you were in any real danger from
attacks, but generally speaking, you're not (you *are* careful to upgrade your
armor every chance you get, right?) Well, when you're up against Pandora you
can put whoever has Brax up front and let him absorb her antenna attack &
Wingflap (I actually did this :) - but have someone fast use an M-Guard at the
start of each turn, or else the second Pandora drops a Glacier All or B-Storm,
Brax's host is toast.
Brax's offensive magic is pretty strong for his level (Ice All is a good
attack spell at least through Karma Palace, possibly beyond). ACU Up isn't
useful in combat (your weapons will rarely miss anyway), but casting it is a
good way for Brax's host to rack up experience points. You don't get anything
good for deleting Brax though (just an InferRock), and you'll soon outgrow him.
Furthermore, if you're *that* desperate for a defense against Pandora's
physical attacks, make Crow (lvl 41); he's immune to many physical attacks
(even though he doesn't absorb them), and his offensive spells/defensive power
are much better.
Overall, the expense of buying a Pentagon early in the game isn't really
worth it to make Brax, unless you kill a LOT of demons for money, or you're
really good at gambling. Buy the Niple and make Hera instead.

Rating: **1/2

24 Gasious
[no effect against wind, weak against gun]

Not a bad Persona; Chill All, Gust All, & Holyword are decent attack spells for
his level. But he's not that great either. You can delete him for a CharmShot,
though, which is one of the stronger bows Mary can use (but not the strongest).
So he can be worth it, if you can live with a big fat chicken floating over
your head...

Rating: ***

25 Omah Hierophant
[absorb chill, weak against fire]

He sucks. He sucks so much it's not even funny. He doesn't get a good spell
(Redfire) until 8th level, when you'll doubtless be so sick of him you'll want
to delete him anyway. The only reason to bother making him is so you can delete
him for a ChessPiece, which you'll need if you want to make the Bushido
Persona, which *is* very strong - but that's a level 66 Persona; you may or may
not be that high when you defeat the game.

Rating: **

25 Stalios Hermit
[no effect against tackle, weak against whip]

A decent Persona. He reflects nerve magic, so put him up front & center if
you're not using Hellcat or Remy (but WHY AREN'T YOU USING REMY!!!???) His
attack spells aren't that great - Quake and Sonar are probably best, though
ViriNail is good against demons that are weak against attack. The main reason
to make him, though, is so you can delete him for the Sunseed, which you need
to make the Ieuda Persona. Except that Ieuda is level 80 and you'll beat the
game before you get that high anyway. So I wouldn't recommend Stalios unless
you really like horses.

Rating: **1/2

27 Iron bride Empress
[reflect ray, weak against spirit]

IMO, her attack spells are way too weak for a level 27 Persona. She should be
more like level 17. I mean, *Talon* has an early Ray All spell, for goodness'
sake. And she's weak against spirit. And by the time you delete her for an
ElecGlove, you'll already have an IronClaw (from killing the Leach demon),
which is a better weapon for Chris anyway. She's a waste of time, unless you
really like shapely, armored warrior women. :-)

Rating: *1/2

28 Lance Magician
[reflect tremor, weak against physical]

His attack spells (Quake, Tremor All, DragoSpear) are average, not great. And
so is he. But you can delete him for a CharmSword, which is one of the stronger
weapons Brad can wield.

Rating: **1/2

28 Mach Justice
[absorb wind, weak against spirit]

Mach is awesome. She gives your agility a *huge* boost; that combined with her
fairly powerful-for-her-level attack spells will send her host shooting up in
experience. All this and she looks cool, too! Her weakness is her low magic
defensive power - she's especially vulnerable to spirit attacks like Extinct,
or charm magic - but you just might find her handy all the way up to Deva Yuga.
You don't get anything good for deleting her though (just a GaleRock).

Rating: ***

29 Deva Priestess
[strong against magic]

The fact that she has Heal All alone is a big bonus - she's a good backup just
in case whoever has Halo gets killed - and her Bless and Illcure spells save
you from having to rely exclusively on Shinycandy and sickness-cures. Hell Eyes
(instant death, one enemy) can be a devastating attack spell too, if Deva's
host is in range to cast it, and being strong against magic is a good thing. On
the downside, her only other attack spell (Love Whip) is pitiably weak, and you
don't get anything good for deleting her (just a Blaststone). And because Deva
is not totally immune to magic, I strongly recommend that you keep Halo around
even after Deva has learned Heal All.

Rating: ***

29 Leviathan World
[strong against attack, weak against magic]

His in-close attack spells (Viribite, Bonecrush) are nasty, and his 8th-level
Nukemore is nastier, but his weakness against magic will get you killed real
fast, especially when you're up against demons who cast the Extinct spell
(starting in Castle Mana). You can delete him for a Poniard, though, which is
one of Main/Ellen's better swords - though you can get a still better sword
from the Deep Lost Forest (CloseKnife) or beating the Felios demon (Bowie) or
deleting the Mephisto Persona (PanicDirk).

Rating: **1/2

30 Tenji Fool
[strong against everything]

An excellent Persona, if you can make him - and since Fool Personas are created
only through random accidental mishap, don't count on it. I believe you can
increase your odds of getting a Fool by fusing spell cards that produce a blue
symbol/upward-pointing arrow in Self-Service, but even so, I think it's only
about a 1/64 chance.
His offensive magic rocks. Sweet trap is fun (and he's strong enough for it
to do serious damage, especially against demons that are weak against attack),
Quake all is hurtful, MAG Up is useful against bosses that you fight with magic
(i.e. almost every boss except Pandora), ReviveMore will save your butt when
one of your party dies. Perhaps the most fun spell is AttackBack, which gives
you free counterattacks - try it vs. bosses and watch the show!
His other great asset is that he's "Strong against everything" - yes, tough
enough to go up against Pandora herself. Pandora can hurt him pretty bad, and
you'll want to use an M-Guard every turn anyway, but he can take most of her
stuff while most other Personas of this level range will lie down and die.
If Alana is in your party, you can delete Tenji for a Jingle Whip - but this
Persona is probably worth keeping around, for the novelty if nothing else.

Rating: ****

32 Anuvis Temperance
[no effect against tackle, weak against whip]

His Drum Punch and Judgement spells are strong attacks. Spiritnorm is useless
though, and "Life" would be better named "Suicide" (I'm not kidding - despite
its name, this spell does not resurrect dying party members; it just kills its
host and divides the host's hit points among the surviving party members!!!).
He reflects nerve magic, which is both fun and useful, especially against
bosses like Guido. You can delete him for DarkAsh, which is essential to make
the awesome Dark Angel Persona; however, Dark Angel is a level 79 Persona, so
you probably won't be ready to handle it before you're ready to beat the game.

Rating: **1/2

33 Mordo Chariot
[reflect flash, weak against spirit]

Magnet All is probably his strongest attack spell. He's OK, not great, and
his weakness against spirit sucks. You get SilverTip for deleting him, which is
a rather powerful ammunition, but you'll be able to buy all the SilverTip you
need, cheap, after you finish Deva Yuga anyway.

Rating: **1/2

34 Hera Death
[no effect against spirit]

Only the women & Chris can use her. You need the Niple to make her; if you
can scrounge up the cash, try to buy one from Judgement 1999 before you finish
Sebec (if there is *one* item you should buy from the casinos early in the
game, it's the Niple). Otherwise you won't be able to make Hera until after you
finish Deva Yuga. In fusion, use spell cards from the GT and EG demon classes
for an extra strong Persona.
Hera's offensive magic isn't that great - Curse does worthwhile damage only
to Holylight demons, though Hell Eyes can be effective if Hera's host is within
range to cast it. But Hera is a good defensive Persona simply because she is
Evildark, making her immune to curse damage from Lips/Astrals/Succubuses etc.
There are only three low-level Evildark Personas: Hera, Remy, & Chris' starter
persona Guni (next lowest is Inferno, and he's level 44 - you may well finish
Deva Yuga before you're that high). You will want to have the Hera and Remy
personas active when you fight your way through Castle Mana, because that way
even if you're surprised by five Lips and they all cast Extinct, at least two
members of your party will survive. Hera is also immune to spirit damage, and
she reflects nerve magic. She's not as good as Remy, however, because she isn't
immune to regular magic (elemental spells can hurt her). You don't get anything
good for deleting Hera, just a PetraStone.
Note that being Evildark does make Hera vulnerable to Holylight spells - but
for every time a demon casts a Holylight spell on you, you will be hit with
curse damage some 50 times. Besides, if you're sensible you'll always have a
few Holylight Personas around to balance your Evildark Personas, if only
because Holylight Personas are the ones with all the good healing spells. ^_^

Rating: ***1/2

34 Ug Emperor
[absorb ray, weak against physical]

He's actually a rather good Persona. Blaze All is a strong offensive spell, and
Physi wall is excellent defense against demons & bosses that rely on physical
attacks. Perhaps the most entertaining reason to make him is because he knows
the Berserk spell (puts a party member into good status where they
automatically attack with swords every turn for extra damage, or undoes this
good status). Berserk really isn't all that useful - in fact, it's dangerous
because you lose control of the berserk char - but it can be fun to play with.
The only other Persona that knows Berserk is Guni, so if you want Berserk but
don't want Chris in your party, make Ug. You get a PentaGlove for deleting Ug;
it's one of Chris' stronger weapons.

Rating: ***

35 Helion Magician
[strong against magic, weak against attack]

His offensive spells are OK (Gust All and Dead Whip aren't bad); it's good that
he's strong against magic, and who cares if he's weak against attacks. You get
CoreShoes for deleting him, but so what, you'll eventually be able to buy
stronger footwear anyway.

Rating: ***

36 Brigit Empress
[reflect flash, weak against spirit]

She has strong offensive spells, though her weakness against spirit is a
hindrance. If you make her, you'll get good use out of her. You can delete her
for a Cobra Axe, but that's actually a weaker weapon than the Holy Axe you get
for deleting Sumi... I wonder if the programmers mixed these two Personas up?

Rating: ***

36 Azrael Judgement
[no effect against magic, weak against attack]

One of the best low-to-mid-level Personas in the game. So what if it looks like
a freakin' Xmas tree ornament? Lighter is a strong attack spell vs Evildark
demons, and Judgement is a stronger attack spell vs non-evildark demons (in
fact, it will totally wipe out most of the demons in Deva Yuga). STR Up is a
very good spell vs. bosses, especially Guido & Pandora. You can have fun
watching Azrael talk the Virtue demon out of its spell card. Best of all,
though, Azrael is immune to magic (except for Evildark spells). It just ain't
worth it to delete him for a Disch Rock. Make this Persona or weep.

Rating: ****

37 Wals Priestess
[strong against magic]

You need the Death Ring to maker her; look for it in the Mana Castle.
Unfortunately, her spells suck. I mean, they *really* suck. Bless All, Heal,
PetriCure, who freakin' cares? Her only useful attack spell is Eternity (the
*weakest* dark damage spell - Azrael's & Anuvis' Judgement is stronger!!!) and
she doesn't get that until level 8. Okay, so the fact that she's strong against
magic is something. Big whoop. If she had a mass healing spell, she might be
worth it, but as it is...
...there are only two reasons to bother with Wals. One is because she's
pretty. The second is so you can delete her for the FatePin, which you need to
make Scrag, who is everything Wals wants to be but isn't. Except that Scrag is
freakin' level 88, and unless you like pointless leveling up, you'll never get
that high anyway...

Rating: **

37 Region Justice
[reflect gravity, weak against spirit]

An okay Persona, but by all rights his level should be lower. Flash All,
Gravity All, and Holywhite are weak-to-okay attack spells, and Region's
weakness against spirit is bad. He gives your agility, luck, and TEC parameters
a big boost, though. You can delete him for a Monk Hood, but who cares - you'll
eventually be able to buy stronger headgear anyway.

Rating: **1/2

39 Mephisto Hierophant
[absorb flash, weak against blast]

His attack spells (Electro, Air Slice, Holyer) are OK. Actually, Holyer is an
excellent attack spell against Evildark demons, particularly the Macabre and
Blaxknights, who are probably the two most dangerous foes you'll encounter
immediately after you finish Deva Yuga. Mephisto also gives your parameters a
nice boost, particularly your vitality, and best of all, you can delete him for
a PanicDirk, an excellent weapon for Main/Ellen.

Rating: ***

39 Frost Hermit
[no effect against tackle, weak against whip]

Good kitty... this white tiger Persona reflects nerve magic and is useable by
everyone. His attack spells (Gust All, Petribite) are average. Frost gives your
TEC and VIT a major boost. You need the W-Tablet to make Frost; look for it in
Castle Mana. You get TenguBoots for deleting Frost, but that doesn't matter
since you'll eventually be able to buy stronger foot gear anyway.

Rating: **1/2

40 Cerebus Fortune
[no effect against tackle, weak against whip]

His spells suck. Poisonbite and Virinail aren't much more useful than swords or
guns, Revive isn't worth it when you can buy Lifeorbs/get Personas with
Revivemore, and MagicShield is good only for gaining experience. He's one of
only three Personas with the "Wolf" spell (puts your chars into animalistic
good status), the other two being Loki and Mondo (and only Chris can use
Mondo). But "Wolf" good status seems pretty useless too - I don't think it
helps char's parameters very much, even if the moon is full. On the bright
side, though, Cerebus gives your TEC a big boost, and you can delete him for
Dead Ends, the second strongest bullet in the game (and one that isn't sold in
stores). And he does look cool (a wolf with a rat-tail).

Rating: **

41 Crow Sun
[no effect against wind, weak against gun]

This Persona has very strong attack spells; in fact, he's the lowest level
Persona to have Gishin All (maximum Earth damage). Plus, he's immune to most
ordinary attacks (also Wind). You can delete him for an ExorSword, Nate's most
powerful weapon. Crow is well worth making. In fact, you may want to put him up
front & center vs Pandora, in order to bait her into wasting useless Wingflaps
and antenna attacks on Crow's host (better that than a double B-Storm, let me
assure you! :)

Rating: ***1/2

43 Odin Emperor
[strong against magic, weak against attack]

His attack spells (Quake, DragoSpear, Gishin) are OK, not great, though his
being strong against magic is a good thing. You get an EnergyBow for deleting
him, which is one of the strongest weapons Mary can wield.

Rating: **1/2

44 Inferno Death
[no effect against spirit]

Only Mary and Chris can use him (well, also Yuki). Make him with spell cards
from demon classes GT and EG for an extra powerful Persona. His attack spells
are OK; Cursemore works well against Holylight demons, and 8th-level Axebomb is
good vs. bosses or monsters vulnerable to physical attack. The fact that he's
Evildark makes him immune to curse damage from spells such as Extinct. You can
delete him for a Holy Glove, a very strong weapon for Chris. But the main
reason why you might like to play with Inferno is because he is the *only*
Persona that knows the Cyber spell, which can bestow Good Status: Puppet on a
dying character. Really, it's not that useful a spell, since if you play the
game right you should (hopefully) keep your chars from dying to begin with, and
failing that there's always the Revivemore spell or LifeOrbs, but it can be
kind of cool to toy around with. :-)

Rating: **1/2

44 Celes Empress
[reflect ray, weak against spirit]

You need the War Tablet to make her; although you can buy one from a Judgement
1999 before you finish Sebec, save your money - you can buy one and make her
after you finish Deva Yuga instead, and you might not even be strong enough to
handle her before then. Make Celes with any DW demon and WD:Yaksha (summoned in
that order) to give her the 2nd-level bonus spell Holyest.
Celes' attack spells (BlastMore, Grounder, Sonic Wave) are weak-to-average,
and even though her defensive magic power is high, her weakness against spirit
is a bad thing. The best thing about her is that you can delete her for a
helmet stronger than the ones you can buy in stores (Ceaser Helmet).

Rating: **1/2

45 Gemb Temperance
[no effect against tackle, weak against whip]

You need the Black Tablet to make him; look for it in Deva Yuga. His offensive
spells (Ice breath, Freezer, Quake All) are OK, and Mag Up can be helpful once
in a while. He gives your TEC a nice big boost. You don't get much for deleting
him, though - just a piece of armor that's inferior to what you can buy after
you finish Deva Yuga (Moblie Suit). There's no pressing reason to bother with
him unless you really like turtles.

Rating: **1/2

46 Vixen Priestess
[strong against magic]

Heal All is good. Revive More is good. Being strong against magic is good. Her
high defensive magic power, TEC boost, and moderate LUK boost are good. Her
only worthwhile offensive spell is Multi pin, though. I've tried to get her to
talk a Vixen demon out of its spell cards, but it hasn't worked (perhaps
there's no connection - after all, the Vixen Persona is a beautiful woman,
while the Vixen demon is a dragonlike creature). She's worth making as a
defensive Persona, and also to delete her for a HolyVulcan, a stronger gun for
Main/Brad than what you can buy in stores. (Once you do delete her, you can
still get by nicely on Halo and a backlog of Life Orbs).

Rating: ***

46 Morie Justice
[absorb wind, weak against spirit]

His attack spells (Sonic, Sonic all, Magma heat) are decent, but his weakness
against spirit is bad. He gives your TEC and AGL a nice boost, though, and you
can delete him for a StarSword, one of Brad's strongest weapons. And he looks
cool, too.

Rating: ***

47 Vora Magician
[reflect chill, weak against physical]

You need the MonkCharm to make him, but don't bother buying it from a Judgement
1999 until after you finish Deva Yuga; odds are, you'll need to save your money
for weapon/armor upgrades & other supplies instead. When you do get around to
making him, though, try to use the FY: Princix & SD: Cupid spell cards for an
extra powerful Persona.
Vora is all about one thing: attacking with ice. He's the lowest level
Persona to know GlacierAll (maximum ice damage). His sheer attack power and
high stats make him well worth the effort; plus you can delete him for a Final
Axe, a very powerful weapon for Mark. Basically, Vora's slightly better than
St. Dragon (because he doesn't have St. Dragon's weakness to magic), but not as
cool in appearance.

Rating: ***1/2

47 Nari Fool
[strong against everything]

Fool class Personas are useable by everyone, but created only by random,
accidental mishaps during fusion. So if you manage to make Nari, consider
yourself lucky.
You can delete Nari for a Hell Rain, whatever that is...

Rating: ? (haven't tried)

48 Shaolin Chariot
[absorb tremor, weak against spirit]

He has average attack spells (Nukemore, Giant Pin). His early spells are weak,
which makes him hard to level up unless you make him with something like a
ForceStone. Delete him for a MadDog, which is a stronger gun for Mark than you
can buy in stores.

Rating: **1/2

49 St. Dragon World
[strong against attack, weak against magic]

Like all World Personas, he's useable by everyone. You need the B-Tablet to
make him; look for it in the Deep Lost Forest after you finish Deva Yuga. St.
Dragon is great fun, not only because he looks cool, but also because he has
tremendously powerful offensive spells. He's the lowest-level Persona to know
Discharge, and the second lowest to know Glacier All (maximum Ice damage), the
first one being Vora. Of course, his being strong against attack does
pathetically little good (yeah, he gives your VIT a huge boost), while being
weak against magic will get him killed when up against the toughest demons of
Avidea World (in particular, don't let a Grimy get first shot at him or he's
dead meat), but I guess you can't have everything. You can delete him for a
Muscle Arm, a piece of armor that's inferior to what you can buy after you
finish Deva Yuga (and since you can't make this Persona until after you finish
Deva Yuga, *what is the point*???)

Rating: ***

50 Viper Strength
[strong against attack, weak against magic]

This Persona is pathetic. Level 50? Get real. Try level FIVE, okay? All right,
so her stats are higher than the low-level Personas with the same spells
(Maria, Trickster). She still doesn't deserve to be above level 25, at absolute
maximum. Her spells suck - Illcure and Aqua wall are pretty useless. STR Up is
good versus bosses (and pretty much only vs. bosses) but there are better
Personas who have it, namely Azrael & St. Michael. She doesn't get an attack
spell worth spit until level 8 (Freezer). Worst of all, she's weak against
magic. So for play value, don't bother unless you're into sea serpents (like I
am :), or you want the thrill of watching her talk a Viper demon out of its
spell card (whee). You can delete her for a Twin Tower though, an excellent gun
for Nate/Ellen/Chris that you can't buy in stores.
If you have your heart set on Viper, then for goodness' sake be sure to add
a GlaciStone or the like into her fusion recipe - that way she will, hopefully,
actually get a bonus 2nd level attack spell that is actually worth something.
Hopefully.

Rating: **

51 Loki Devil
[strong against everything]

His spells aren't that great - CurseMore and IronPunch are his only attack
spells. CurseMore works well against Holylight demons, though. Loki is one of
only three Personas to know Wolf (other two are Cerebus & Mondo), and the only
Persona to know Wildman (sends target char into good status, where the char's
Persona automatically attacks every turn with one of its strongest attack
spells for extra damage). Wildman isn't necessary a useful spell - in fact, it
can be dangerous because you lose control of the target char, and if the demons
reflect magic (either intrinsically or through a spell they cast) then the
Wildman char will probably kill himself before you can restore his sanity by
casting Wildman a second time. But if you want to try Wildman, go ahead and
make Loki.
Loki has an additional advantage in that he's "Strong against everything,"
making him a good defensive Persona. Since he's Evildark, curse damage won't
hurt him but holylight damage can potentially strike him dead on the spot, if
you fail your saving throw (or whatever). Perhaps the most fun aspect of Loki
is watching him talk the Fenril demon out of its spell card (happened to me,
also to Henry LaPierre when the moon was 5/8 full). You can delete Loki for a
Power Glove, Chris' best(?) weapon.

Rating: ***

52 Thor Hierophant
[absorb flash, weak against blast]

Any Persona that starts off with Bolt All can't be all bad. :) Discharge &
Axebomb are also powerful attack spells. You don't get anything good for
deleting him (a Spirit Coat, an armor that is weaker than what you can buy
after you finish Deva Yuga).

Rating: ***

53 Chatz Priestess
[absorb fire, weak against chill]

This Persona looks really weird... like a fetus on an umbilical cord. Her
natural spells are on the weak side - put her at the back of the party to get
the most out of Sad Attack (the middle-strength arrow attack spell), plus she
has 8th-level RedFire. The handgun you get for deleting her (PeaceMaker) is
about as strong as the LongBeard that Mary can buy in stores, and more erratic
(sometimes it fails to attack). So, unless you make her with an Inferno Stone
or the like, she isn't really worth it.

Rating: **

53 Succubus Moon
[absorb magic, weak against attack]

You need the Monk Tablet to make her; buy it from a Judgement 1999 after you
finish Deva Yuga (or maybe even before, if you really want to). Only male chars
can use her. Think of her as sort of Remy to the second power; she shares
Remy's life-saving ability to absorb magic (and being Evildark makes her immune
to curse damage, only Holylight spells can kill her), plus she has much better
spells (MoreDead, Moonwhip, not to mention Magic Wall). She's worth taking
against Pandora herself. Heck, you can give her to Main and let the Succubus
cast Magic Wall instead of spending M-Guards. As a bonus, you can watch the
Succubus Persona talk a Succubus demon out of her spell card.
Magic Wall is the key to making hard fights easy. If you've been
distributing Main's stats right (two points to agility every time he goes up a
level, the third wherever you want - I recommend alternating between VIT, LUK,
and maybe TEC; ignore STR, it's useless anyway) he should have 99 agility by
the time he's ready for the Succubus Persona. That way, Main is almost (not
always) guaranteed to be able to cast her Magic Wall spell before any demons
act, protecting your entire party from even the attack spells that will hit
magic-immune Personas (Extinct, Hell Eyes).
If Alana is in your party, you can delete the Succubus for a Petriwhip, one
of Alana's best weapons (if not the best). Otherwise, keep the Succubus - this
Persona is too good to sacrifice on a whim.

Rating: ****

54 Darkside Justice
[reflect ray, weak against spirit]

Brad's "ultimate" Persona. Only Brad can use him. You can get the LunarPiece
needed to make him in the Soul Cave, if a) Brad's in your party, and b) you
made certain choices throughout the game - consult the Persona FAQ for full
details/spoilers.
Darkside's attack spells (Deathkick, Sonic) are rather wimpy for an
"ultimate" Persona, but his 8th-level BiStrike makes him a four-star Persona.
BiStrike is *the strongest attack spell in the game*! It will kill ALL non-boss
demons in one round, provided that Brad's hit points are high enough (it does
roughly twice the host's hit points worth of damage to every demon in range,
even the ones that reflect attacks or magic). It'll also kill Brad, but hey...
any spell that quickly clears your long hike up to Pandora can't be all bad,
eh? Just bring along Halo, so that you can cheaply heal Brad lots & lots of
times after the fights. The only other Persona with BiStrike is Abracab (lvl
94), so if you really want this spell but don't want to do an insane amount of
"levelling up," be sure to draft Brad into your party.
You can delete Darkside for a BindWhip - but since only Alana can use whips,
and only Brad can use Darkside, and you can't have both Alana & Brad in your
party, well, just what *were* the programmers thinking!?

Rating: ****

55 Allmighty Judgement
[reflect magic, weak against spear]

Allmighty *rocks*. She has Elixer All, the best healing spell in the game
(restores all hit points for everyone), Light All, one of the most powerful
attack spells in the game (except against Holylight demons), also Destruct. She
gives your agility a tremendous boost. Best of all, she reflects magic, meaning
that only curse damage can hurt her. Besides, it is *so* much fun whenever
demons try to hit your party with a spell and end up eating their own magic! If
you really want to delete Allmighty, you'll get the most powerful bullets in
the game (Whispers, not sold in stores!!) but IMHO it isn't worth it. Allmighty
is just too good.

Rating: ****

55 Phoenix Sun
[no effect against wind, weak against gun]

You need the C-Tablet to make her; look for it in the Soul Cave. She is sort of
the fiery equivalent of St. Dragon, since she's the lowest level Persona in the
game with Inferno All (maximum fire damage). She's fun to play with just
because she looks cool and has sheer offensive power. You get junk for deleting
her (Hydracowl, but you can buy better armor in stores).

Rating: ***

55 Bard Emperor
[reflect tremor, weak against physical]

His attack spells (Freezer, Glacier, Holyword) are average, not great for such
a high-level Persona. He does give your strength a mind-blowing boost (+93 by
the time he reached 8th level, for me), and you can delete him for a Ceaser
Hand, a stronger gauntlet than what you can buy in stores.

Rating: **1/2 (Haven't tried)

57 Dorga Empress
[reflect flash, weak against spirit]

Yuki's "ultimate" Persona. Only Yuki can use her, so I think you can get the
Dark Tablet needed to make her only in the Snow Queen Quest on the Japanese
version of Persona.
You can delete Dorga for an Infinity. No, I have no idea what that is...

Rating: ? (Haven't tried)

58 Mondo
[no effect against spirit]

Chris' "ultimate" Persona. Only Chris can use him. You can get the Coffin
needed to make him in the Soul Cave, if a) Chris is in your party, and b) you
made certain choices throughout the game - consult the Persona FAQ for full
details/spoilers. In fusion, use spell cards from the GT and EG demon classes
for an extra strong Persona.
Mondo's only worthwhile spell is Curse All (he does have Wolf as well, but if
you really want to send chars into good status: Wolf, you can always make the
Cerebus or Loki personas). On the bright side, he does start with Curse All at
level 1, and it is excellent for killing the Holylight demons that reflect
non-Evildark magic (Dominion, Chronos, Kelpi). Since Mondo is Evildark, he's
also immune to the Moredead, Curse All, and Extinct spells that Insibuses,
Jesters, and Chow demons will hit your party with. Mondo is a worthwhile
defensive Persona, but perhaps the best use for him is to delete him for a
Death Cross, which may be the strongest bow Mary can wield.

Rating: ***

59 Jester Hanged man
[reflect magic, weak against spear]

His spells are weak except for his 8th-level attack spell Curse All (just don't
use it against Evildark demons). He is the only Persona with the Invisible
spell (bestows good status: Cloaked to a party member). Trouble with this
status is that it makes enemies ignore you for physical attacks while you are
more susceptible to magic, and - this is the last time I'll say it - physical
attacks will NOT kill you, magic WILL. So this spell is pretty dangerous...
unless you cast it on someone with a Persona that reflects magic (such as, say,
Jester's own host :); then you just might increase the amount of reflected
magic damage that your demon foes take. But this increase will probably be less
than what you could do simply attacking with a sword or a gun anyway.
Jester's biggest strength is that he reflects magic. His other cool aspect
is that he can talk a Jester demon out of its spell card. You can delete him
for a Grim Reaper, a gun for Mary/Alana that's more powerful that the ones you
can buy in stores.

Rating: ***1/2

59 Flare Magician

Alana's "ultimate" Persona. Only Alana can use it. You can get the Gold Pen
needed to make it in the Soul Cave, if a) Alana is in your party, and b) you
made certain choices throughout the game - consult the Persona FAQ for full
details/spoilers.
You can delete Flare for Ceaser Feet, the best footwear in the game.

59 Demo Chariot
[reflect ray, weak against spirit]

Mark's "ultimate" Persona. Only Mark can use him. You can get the Pure Water
needed to make him in the Soul Cave, if you made certain choices throughout the
game - consult the Persona FAQ for full details/spoilers.
You know, for an "ultimate" Persona his attack spells (Eternity, GaleWind,
BoneCrush etc.) kind of suck. His high OMP makes them better than they look at
first glance, though. You can delete Demo for a Machete, a weapon for
Main/Ellen that is just a little better than the PanicDirk you get for deleting
Mephisto.

60 Alfred Judgement

Alfred is the third best of the Personas I've played (after St. Michael and
Allmighty). Like them, he reflects magic and has the powerful Light All attack
spell. Instead of a mass-healing spell, though, he only has Elixer (heals just
one player). The compensation is that he also has MagicWall, which will
shield/reflect your entire party from magic for one turn. You might be tempted
to use Alfred's MagicWall vs. Pandora, but remember, you want a char with
maximum agility (yes, 99 agility if at all possible!) to cast it each turn, and
if you've distributed Main's statistics right he should be a lot faster than
Nate. You get junk for deleting Alfred (ElixRock, use it to give a Persona the
Elixer spell), so don't.

Rating: ****

61 Valzante Priestess
[strong against magic]

Mary's "ultimate" Persona. Only Mary can use her. You can get the MudFlower
needed to make her in the Soul Cave, if you made certain choices throughout the
game - consult the Persona FAQ for full details/spoilers. It's possible to
screw up one choice and still get the MudFlower, but if you muff them all you
won't get spit.
Valzante isn't that great for an "ultimate" Persona. Oh, being strong
against magic is good, and her stats are good, and 8th-level Elixer All is
good. Her attack spells BlueFire and Holywhite are OK, nothing special, and by
all rights she deserves to have Revivemore instead of Revive. Note that her
1st-level Cure All is much stronger than Virgo's, healing the party of about
200+ hit points each (maybe 2/3 of what Halo's Heal All can do). You get a
HolyComet for deleting her, which I believe is a singularly powerful bow. Also,
she's pretty. Overall, she's actually a decent Persona, it's just that a
several other high-level Personas are noticeably better.

Rating: ***

61 Karma Fool
[strong against everything]

Fool class Personas are useable by everyone, but created only by random,
accidental mishaps during fusion. So if you manage to make Karma, consider
yourself lucky.
You can delete Karma for a Musamune, which is probably some kind of
weapon...

Rating: ? (haven't tried)

62 St. Michael Judgement
[reflect magic, weak against spear]

Ellen's "ultimate" Persona. Only Ellen can use him. You can get the Buster
needed to make him in the Soul Cave, if a) Ellen is in your party, and b) you
made certain choices throughout the game - consult the Persona FAQ for full
details/spoilers.
St. Michael is the best of all the Personas I've played. He reflects magic,
he has the powerful attack spells Deathbound and Light All, he knows STR Up
(enormously helpful against the last boss Pandora), he gives Ellen's stats an
amazing boost, heck, he can even cast Physi Wall. He's just plain awesome. You
can delete him for a Heavengate, Nate/Ellen's most powerful gun, but losing St.
Michael ain't worth it.

Rating: ****

62 Ra Emperor
[absorb blast, weak against physical]

Main's "ultimate" Persona. Only Main can use her. You can get the Lavacharm
needed to make her in the Soul Cave, if you made certain choices throughout the
game - consult the Persona FAQ for full details/spoilers. It's possible to
screw up two of these choices and still get the Lavacharm, though if you muff
more than that then you won't get spit.
Ra's attack spells and stats are OK for an "ultimate" Persona, but the only
real reason to bother with her is probably her 8th-level Bossdamage spell,
which supposedly is excellent for killing Pandora - at least, it will hurt even
demons that reflect/absorb magic. You get an Inferno stone for deleting Ra, but
so what - by then you'll easily have saved up the $3000 you need to buy one at
a casino anyway.

Rating: ***

65 Ishtal Empress
[reflect blast, weak against spirit]

Ishtal rocks. She's great fun as an offensive Persona, because she has Ice
Arrow (put Ishtal's host at the back of the party to get the most out of this
*hideously strong* attack) Bolt All, and BlastMost (maximum heat damage). OK,
so her weakness against spirit is a handicap. Another disadvantage is that she
eats up spell points like you wouldn't believe; you may actually have to start
carrying items that replenish SP. But her power is worth it. And you get the
David Star for deleting her, which you need to make the Lucifer Persona (if you
have Chris in your party & you get all the way up to level 99, that is).

Rating: ***1/2

66 Massacre Tower
[strong against attack]

Guido's Persona. You need the BlackMask to make him; you'll get it
automatically after you defeat Guido in Deva Yuga. Only Chris can use Massacre.
Unfortunately, Massacre seems to have suffered from the loss of his last host.
He no longer looks the same (a Cthullu-type tentacled blob instead of the
winged Alien-style critter). He's also lost most of his good spells - Guido
could use him to cast FireAll and Death, but Chris can't. In fact, the only
spell of Guido's that he seems to retain is Bind. Hell, Massacre's only decent
attack spells are MoreDead and Lightkick, and even those are weak. You can
delete him for a Death stone, but so what? You can buy one of those for a few
thousand at the casino anyway. Overall, Massacre is a sucky disappointment.

Rating: *1/2

66 Bushido Justice
[reflect gravity, weak against spirit]

You need the ChessPiece to make him; to get one, grow the Omah persona to stage
8 and delete it. Better yet, forget the whole thing. Bushido isn't a bad
Persona, but he isn't great either - his attack spells (Force All, Triple Hit)
are merely okay for such a high level Persona. Besides, if you want Force All
(maximum gravity damage, all enemies) that badly, just buy a ForceStone from
the casino and use it in fusion.
On the positive side, Bushido is like all Justice personas in that he gives
your agility a sizeable boost. He still probably isn't worth the effort of
growing the incredibly sucky Omah persona to stage 8, unless you really like
red-skinned Japanese samurai... (no, I'm not being supercilious; Bushido's skin
really *is* beet red!) You can delete Bushido for a GlacierStone, but by this
stage in the game you should have the money to buy GlacierStones from the
casino anyway.

Rating: **1/2

68 Hannu Magician
[reflect wind, weak against physical]

Hannu is all about one thing: attacking with air. Unfortunately, air is one of
the weaker elements to attack with, and it can't inflict temporary bad status
like ice or electricity. Hannu is the lowest level Persona to know Gale All
(maximum air damage). But if you really want the Gale All spell, just buy the
appropriate stone from the casino and use it to make the Persona of your
choice. Hannu's defensive magic power isn't that great for such a high level
Persona, either, and he eats up spell points pretty quickly. He's okay, but not
exceptional. You get junk for deleting him (Gishin stone, just buy one at the
casino if you want it).

Rating: **1/2

70 RacSha Priestess
[strong against magic]

She sucks. I mean, really sucks. She has NO attack spells that will actually
damage demons; her ONLY good spell is ReviveMore, and it's only helpful when
one of your party dies (which shouldn't be very often, if you're careful). The
fact that she's strong against magic is weak compensation for how badly she
sucks. If you make her, then for the love of goodness add a Holystone or
whatever into her fusion recipie, in order to give her a decent 2nd-level
attack spell.
But there is a reason to bother making RacSha and growing her to level 8.
You can delete her for an ElixStone which, if used in fusion, will give a
Persona the Elixer All spell (heal the entire party of all damage) at second
level. And unlike stones with attack spells, you can't buy an ElixStone from
the casino, or win it off a demon.

Rating: **

+++++Note: At level 70, RacSha is almost certainly the highest-level Persona
you'll be able to make before you've finished exploring everything, and you're
ready to beat the game. If you make any Personas above RacSha, it's because you
either like charging around in circles to level up, or you're using a GameShark
code to gain levels more quickly. After this point, survival is no longer that
big a deal... your party is probably strong enough to face darn near anything,
and you're just experimenting with high-level Personas for the fun of it. If
this is what you really want to do, then I recommend doing it with Chris in
your party - he's the only one who can use some high-level Personas such as
Lucifer and Beezlebum, and it is very difficult to successfully contact every
demon and get the GlassDoll fusion item without his help.+++++

74 Bucho Hierophant
[absorb flash, weak against blast]

You need the Thunderbox to make him; buy it from the casino after you finish
Deva Yuga.
This Native American Persona is fun because he knows Ice Arrow (put his
host at the back of the party to get the most out of it) and MagicWall, which
can protect your party from all spells for one turn. He doesn't get these
spells until high level, though, and there are lower-level Personas who get
them earlier (Ishtal for Ice Arrow, Alfred and Succubus for MagicWall). You get
a Discharge Stone for deleting him, but by now you should be able to buy all
the Discharge Stones you want from the casino anyway. Bucho is not that great
for such a high-level Persona. The only reason to bother with him is for the
thrill of watching him talk to a Bufflax demon (the demon won't hand over its
spell card, though; he'll just make the Bufflax mad).

Rating: **1/2

76 Borax World
[strong against attack, weak against magic]

Okay, you're level 76. Are you tired of getting smacked around by demons? Do
you not want to receive another *point* of damage, ever again? That's what
Borax is for. He's got good attack spells (BlastMore, Force All, plus you can
make him with a stone from the casino to give him yet another attack spell),
but by far his best spell is GlassWall. This spell will reflect ALL attacks
(physical or magical) made on your party for three turns. Once you get the
GlassWall up, the *only* way you can take damage is if you were previously hit
by spell that causes damage every turn (such as Extinct), or if the demons
reflect *your* attacks/magic.
So, if you want to take all the guesswork out of fighting the last boss
(Pandora), bring Borax along. Get the GlassWall up on the first round vs. both
her incarnations, then just keep casting it every other turn, and you're all
set. She can't hurt you. Nothing will ever hurt you again... (just bring along
lots of items to replenish your spell points; like all high-level Personas,
Borax eats up SP pretty quickly).
Borax may be weak against magic, but GlassWall is more than worth it. As a
bonus, you can delete him for an Angel knife, Main/Ellen's best weapon in the
game. All this, and he looks cool too (a snake with bat-wings). If you're still
playing the game at level 76, then *make this Persona*!

Rating: ****

77 Beezlebum Devil
[strong against everything]

Only Chris can use this Persona. You need the Pagan King to make him; that's an
item that you can obtain by defeating the demon DM: Alice... maybe. Having a
high LUK parameter increases your chances of getting a Pagan King from Alice,
but doesn't guarantee it. Unfortunately, DM: Alice is VERY hard to find. You
have an EXTREMELY small chance of encountering her in Deva Yuga or the final
section of Avidea World. You have a significantly higher, although still
abysmal chance of encountering her in the deepest level of the Ruins. I've
wandered back and forth around the bottom of the Ruins for weeks, in a quest to
boost my party up to level 99, and I've met Alice only three times. Alice is
not likely to kill you, since she doesn't know any spells that inflict damage,
but she has a nasty habit of running away - use freeze-type spells or Whispers
(bullets that paralyze, obtained from deleting AllMighty) to hold her in place
long enough to kill her. Or if you have the Abracab Persona, use BiStrike to
kill her in one hit.
You can delete Beezlebum for a Curse Rock, big deal... you can win one of
those by killing the FA: Abax demon anyway.

Rating: ? (haven't tried)

79 Garuda Sun
[no effect against wind, weak against gun]

You need the BigStatue to make her, plus the spell cards for EM:Maui and
WD:Yaksha. You can encounter Maui wandering outside the Sun Mall after you
finish Deva Yuga, and Yaksha in the first level of Avidea World. (Maui are also
in Deva Yuga, and Yaksha can wander around town or the Soul Cave, and both do
hide out in the Ruins as well). Summon the Maui & Yaksha in that order during
fusion, and Garuda will have the second-level bonus spell Holyest.
This bird-woman Persona is mostly about attacking with air (Gust All
through Gale All), though she has some physical attack spells as well (Spike
Claw, Death Claw). She gives your agility a tremendous boost, and is useable by
everyone. Worth making, if only because she's cool, but not exceptional. You
can delete her for a GaleStone, big deal - you can buy them at the casino
anyway.

Rating: ***

79 DarkAngel Judgement
[reflect magic, weak against spear]

You need the DarkAsh to make him; get it by deleting the Anuvis Persona at
stage 8. DarkAngel has supremely powerful attack spells; between HolyWord,
Judgement, and NukeMost, he can kill practically all the demons in Avidea
World, even the ones that reflect/absorb magic (just hit any Evildark or
Holylight demon with a spell of the opposite attribute, and it'll kill them
despite their normal immunity to magic). He also reflects magic and has
8th-level Revivemore, in case a member of your party bites it. If Chris is in
your party, you might be curious to know that DarkAngel is the one Judgement
class Persona that Chris can use.
You can even delete DarkAngel for Hellfire, Mark's strongest shotgun. Go
ahead and make this excellent, if monstrous-looking Persona (unlike most
Judgement Personas, he does not even remotely resemble an angel; he's more like
a chained basilisk...)

Rating: ****

80 Ieuda Magician
[absorb blast, weak against physical]

You need the Sunseed to make her, as well as the spell cards for ED:Weirdo and
WM:Babe. To get a Sunseed, grow the Stalios Persona to level 8 and delete it.
You'll find it easier to hunt down the Weirdo in sections 5-6 of Avidea World
than in the Ruins. But unless you've been carrying a Babe spell card since
early in the game, you'll have to just blunder around in the left half of the
second level of the Ruins until you meet her again.
I think it's possible to make a dead (0-level) Persona with Ieuda's
combination, but if Igor predicts that outcome when you try to add the Sunseed
to your fusion recipie, just move the cursor back and forth, and you'll soon
get Ieuda. She should automatically get the bonus second-leve spell SpiritNorm
(big deal, seeing as how it's utterly useless). Her attack spells are
moderately powerful (InfernoAll, HolyWord, Deathbound, MagmaHeat), but that's
all. You can delete her for a Lasarblade, a powerful sword for Nate - but it's
inferior to the ExorSword he can get from deleting the Crow Persona, and
sometimes fails to attack.

Rating: **1/2

85 Kari Empress
[reflect gravity, weak against spirit]

You need the DarkGift and spell cards from DW:Warchild and MA:Leo to make her.
You can win the DarkGift by defeating the demon GT:Chow in levels 6-7 of the
Ruins, or the final level of Avidea World (but watch out, because Chow know the
GlassWall spell - if they get it up, it will reflect all your attacks; the
*only* way you can damage them for three turns is to reflect their Extinct
spells back at them with MagicWall, M-Guards, or the like). DW:Warchild do
wander around outside the Sun Mall after you finish Deva Yuga, in addition to
hanging out in the Ruins. MA:Leo is hard to to find in the Ruins; look for him
in the first section of Avidea World instead.
You can delete Kari for a ForceStone, big deal - just buy one at the
casino.

86 Ashura Emperor
[no effect against wind, weak against gun]

You need the Glass Doll and spell cards from WD:Valkyrie and SD:Cyrus to make
him. Getting the spell cards is the easy part - just wander around in the
3rd-4th level of the Ruins for Valkyrie and the 2nd level of the Ruins for
SD:Cyrus. But to get a Glass Doll, you must successfully contact every demon in
the game for its spell card.
Do you have your heart set on doing that? Well, then there's two things you
can do to make it a lot easier: 1) draft Chris into your party, and 2) get a
card from each type of demon in a specific dungeon in the game before you move
on to the next dungeon. The reason for #2 is that even though you can find all
the contactable demons from dungeons you've completed in the Ruins, your odds
of encountering any single given demon in the Ruins is much lower than in its
home dungeon (because a given level of the Ruins usually has demons from
several different dungeons). The reason for #1 is that a very few demons are
extremely difficult to contact without Chris' help. In particular, EG:Lips does
not respond with interest to anything except Chris: Magic (sometimes she will
answer to Nate: Speech, but only if you give her MagicStones when she demands
them). Even Chris' Magic has a tendency to make the Lips more happy than
interested; if her happiness meter starts flashing too early, switch to someone
else and provoke anger until her happiness meter stops flashing, then go back
to Chris: Magic. This is the only technique that worked for me.
And after you go to *all* that effort to make Ashura, he is... not that
great. He has average attack spells for his level (Gale, Gishin, Glacier,
Axebomb) but the only real reason to bother making him is because he's the
Persona featured in the cover art for the game. ^_^ You can delete Ashura for a
Light Stone, but it's probably a lot easier to get Light Stones by killing AL:
Chronos.

Rating: **1/2

88 Shaa Tower
[strong against attack]

Only men can use this Persona. His attack spells are actually pretty poor for
such a high level Persona; the only good one is Extinct, and it isn't helpful
against Evildark demons. Since Shaa is himself Evildark, though, he's immune to
the Extinct and Curse All spells cast by the Chow and Abax demons, etc. If you
make him, be sure to use a GlaciStone or the like in his fusion recipie. And if
you really want the Extinct spell, you can just as easily use an ExtinctStone
in any other Persona fusion. He does give your stats a big boost, though.
You can delete Shaa for an Extinct Stone, but you'll probably have won at
least twenty of them off FA: PaleRider by the time you grow Shaa to level 8.

Rating: *1/2

88 Scrag Priestess
[reflect attack]

You need the FatePin to make her, plus the spell cards of ED: Faefnel and DN:
Shin. You can get the FatePin by deleting the Wals Persona at stage 8, and you
can find the demons in the bottom two levels of the Ruins or the final section
of Avidea world.
Scrag is an excellent Persona. Her ability to reflect attacks is not really
very helpful, but fun to watch. Her spells are quite good, though - she starts
off with Elixer All, she can attack with Eternity and Boss Damage, heck, she's
even got Revivemore. Boss Damage, in particular, is a an attack spell that will
hit any demon or boss regardless of magical immunities, and only three Personas
have it (Ra, Scrag, & Abracab). Scrag is rather pretty too, in a willowy,
anime-type way. You can delete Scrag for a Revive Rock, but it probably isn't
worth it.

Rating: ***1/2

89 Endora Heirophant
[absorb flash, weak against blast]

You need the Tiger Belt and the spell cards from WD: Hanya and EM: Durahan to
make her. To get the Tiger Belt, kill DN: Shin demons in the final two levels
of the Ruins or the final level of Avidea World until you receive it as a
reward (and this may take some time and effort). EM: Durahan is common enough
in the first couple sections of Avidea World. WD: Hanya is hard to find late in
the game; just wander around the right half of the second level of the Ruins
until you run into her, and use Nate: Yell to make contact.
And after you go to all this effort you get... not that great a Persona. Oh,
her attack spells are decent for her level (Holyest, MagmaHeat, Lightning), but
that's all. She looks lame too - all in red with her face hidden under a metal
hat, basically like a female Omah. You can delete her for a Holystone, big deal
- by now you probably have at least 20 more from killing WD: Yaksha.

Rating: ***

90 Athena Justice
[reflect attack, weak against magic]

You need the Olive Ring and spell cards from DW: Rantula and WM: Sucula to make
her. You can win an Olive Ring by killing ED: Faefnel, if you're lucky (he's in
the bottom level of the Ruins & the final section of Avidea World). DW: Rantula
scurry around the third level of the Ruins, and WM: Sucula inhabit the fourth
(they also wander around town late in the game).
Although Athena reflects attacks, her weakness against magic is a hindrance
if the enemy gets the drop on you. However, her spells are a *killer*
combination - STR Up against bosses (or just cast it in ordinary fights for a
massive experience windfall), Steel Wall to reflect ALL incoming attacks for
three turns, heck, she's even got Discharge and Sonic All to attack with. Steel
Wall alone makes her a four-star Persona.
You can delete Athena for a Ceasar Suit, the best body armor in the game -
but by the time you reach level 90, you will have no more need for armor
anyway.

Rating: ****

94 Abracab Judgement
[reflect magic, weak against spear]

You need the Silver Dish to make him, plus spell cards from SD: Zin and AL:
Kelpi. The Silver Dish is your reward for killing FA: Rainchild, if you're
lucky (look for Rainchild in the bottom level of the Ruins, or the last section
of Avidea World). SD: Zin can be found in the third level of the Ruins, while
AL: Kelpi are in the last two levels of the Ruins and the final section of
Avidea World.
Abracab is the best Persona in the entire game. He reflects magic, he has
Elixer All to heal your whole party, he has the powerful attack spells Light
All, Holyest, and BossDamage, and most of all, he has BiStrike - the deadliest
attack spell in the game. If Abracab's host has more than 500 hit points (and
he *SHOULD*, if he has a P-level of 94!) then Bi Strike will instantly kill
every non-boss demon in the game. The only other Persona with BiStrike is
Darkside, and he's only useable by Brad. Once you have Abracab, you're not even
fighting for fun anymore - just BiStrike your way through everything...
You can delete Abracab for a Sunstone. This marvellous magic item can be
used to cast the spell AlphaBlast, or better yet, incorporate it in fusion to
make a Persona that learns AlphaBlast at level 2. AlphaBlast is a spell that
will hit all enemies regardless of immunity to magic, doing half their current
hit points worth of damage (rounded down - it won't kill enemies with only 1
hit point left). It will also continue to damage them for half their hit points
at the end of every turn. No demon or Persona innately knows the spell
AlphaBlast; if you want to see it in action, you have to make & delete Abracab
(it has pretty animation too - there's a glowing base like the Light All spell,
and a feather-winged critter comes out and flaps its wings twice).

Rating: ****

96 Shiva Chariot
[absorb wind, weak against spirit]

You need the Silver Dish to make him, plus spell cards from SD: Zin and AL:
Kelpi. The Silver Dish is your reward for killing FA: Rainchild, if you're
lucky (you can find her on the bottom level of the Ruins or the final section
of Avidea World). SD: Zin wander around the third level of the Ruins, while AL:
Kelpi are in the bottom two levels of the Ruins and the final section of Avidea
World.
The best of the Chariot class Personas, Shiva gives your your stats a huge
boost and has decent attack spells (Triple Hit, Gale, 8th-level NukeMost). He's
also the only Persona who knows Mega Raid (maximum tackle damage). But compared
to other high-level Personas, there's really only one reason to bother making
him, and that's the joy of talking the SD: Ganesha demon out of its spell card.
You can delete Shiva for a ThermStone, but if you want one that bad it's
much easier to just buy it from the casino.

Rating: **1/2

97 Zuma World
[strong against attack, weak against magic]

You need the D-Scales plus spell cards from DN: Naga and BD: Owl to make him.
Look for the D-Scales in the Soul Cave. DN: Naga wanders around the third level
of the Ruins, while BD: Owl flies around the right half of the second level.
How can such a high-level Persona suck so much? Zuma has nothing but attack
spells, and with the exception of his 8th-level NukeMost, they are all lame. He
is, however, the only Persona to know Bright Air (breath attack that inflicts
blindness), if you are somehow desperate to cast this spell. In fact, he has
all four breath attacks (Bright Air, Poison Air, Fire Breath, Ice Breath). Be
careful with Bright Air and Poison Air - demons from class GT, ND, FA, AL, & MA
will all reflect them. *And* Zuma is weak against magic in general.
You can delete Zuma for a Sonic Stone, but it's just as easy to buy one
from the casino. There is no real reason to bother with this Persona at all,
unless you're really into the Aztec motif.

Rating: **

99 Lucifer Devil

Only Chris can use this Persona. You need the David Star plus spell cards from
DW: Dance and WD: Deadchef to make Lucifer. You can obtain the David Star by
deleting the Ishtal Persona at level 8. DW: Dance wanders around town late in
the game, as well as the fourth level of the Ruins. WD: Deadchef is much harder
to find, but he is in the fourth level of the Ruins.
Lucifer has only attack spells, and these spells are, by themselves, okay
(Curse All, Extinct, Richter, Hell Eyes, Judgement). What makes him a hideously
powerful Persona is that, if you take the time to grow him to level 8, he will
give *all* Chris' statistics the *maximum* bonus - 99 STR, VIT, etc. plus 999
offensive magic power (meaning that his attack spells will kill any demon that
doesn't reflect them) and 999 defensive magic power. Compare this to all other
Personas, which even at their highest level do not have an OMP/DMP greater than
300. What keeps Lucifer from being a four-star Persona is that his spells are
useless against certain demons. All FA and GT demons will reflect Curse All,
while high-level class FA demons, such as Rainchild and Abax, will reflect all
of Lucifer's magical attacks. Compare this to Abracab's BiStrike, which will
kill absolutely everything, or Borax's GlassWall, which will protect your party
from absolutely everything. If you are going to get Chris up to level 99,
though, you really should develop Lucifer just to see the animation of his 8th
level spell Judgement. It's gorgeous...
You can delete Lucifer for an Omega Stone. Use the stone in fusion to
create a Persona that knows OmegaCrush, a spell that will kill one demon at the
end of every turn, regardless of magical immunities. No Persona or demon
innately knows OmegaCrush, so if you want to see this spell in action you have
to delete Lucifer (it's kind of cool, too, like a Cthullu-style monster in a
pentagram).
