Hi. I wrote this Guide to help fellow Need for Speed freaks like myself
understand what cars are in the game, and which ones are the best. This Guide
will also show you what prize money you will win for each Event, which tracks
those Events are raced on, the difficulty of each, and a strategy for each
Event.
Need for Speed: High Stakes is a wonderful arcade racer with all the trimmings.
It's one of the many Need for Speed games from Electronic Arts, and so far it's
the best one, with Need for Speed 3: Hot Pursuit following close behind. :)

Races to see how much money you win for each, and to get everything else I need
for those Events.

* Final, complete version. It took FOREVER to beat this game! Why is High Stakes
so hard? Oh well. Got everything that I want in this Guide, so there shouldn't
be anymore updates.
Terminology:
----------------
///.............. Rankings for each aspect of a vehicle. 10 of these
"///" means that that aspect of the car is the best,
while 1 of these "///" means that that aspect of the
car stinks. It's on a scale of 1-10.
Acceleration..... Determines how fast a car can gain speed, or
"accelerate".
Top Speed........ The Top Speed of a car tells how fast the car is
capable of going in MPH.
Brakes........... The Brakes are what causes the car to stop, and the
better the brakes, the easier and faster your car
will stop or slow down.
Handling......... This aspect of a car tells you how well the car can
handle while racing. The better a car handles, the
easier it is to win races.
Overall.......... This ranking shows you how good the car is in all aspects,
and how well it performs against other cars.
I never did like Cameros, so I don't much like this one either. Although it has
a little bit of acceleration, it lacks in Braking, therfore bringing the Overall
Score down.
Although the Corvette is a great car all-around, it's quite expensive. You'll
only want to purchase the Corvette if you have a lot of cash. Otherwise, just
save up for a Ferrari or Porsche.
Personally, I love all types of Ferrari's. They are awesome machines to behold.
The Maranello is a great car all-around, and is well worth the 75 Grand is
costs.
I'll admit it. I LOVE Porsches. I just adore them. So it's not a mystery when I
tell you that I love the 911, and how well it handles, how fast it goes, and how
good it is overall. It's worth the steep price tag. :)
The Lamborghini Diablo is an awesome car, and a very powerful one too. Although
the only drawback to the power is that the handling suffers a bit. Still a good
choice.
This is one of the best cars in the game. The GTR is the number TWO car in the
game, right behind the McLaren. If you have the money, definatly buy this baby.
The McLaren is the best car in the game. It has perfect EVERYTHING, and then
some. It also looks cool, too. :) Buy it immediatly, once you have the money.
-Activate Horn
To toggle the horn, hold R1 and press Up while driving.
-Activate Lights
To toggle lights, press the corresponding buttons while driving.
-Hazard lights -- hold L1 and press Down
-Head lights -- hold L1 and press Up
-Left turn signal -- hold L1 and press Left
-Right turn signal -- hold L1 and press Right
-Siren * -- hold L1 and press Up

-Bonus Music Tracks
First, go to the audio options from the main menu. Then go to the cd player and
select it. Go all the way to the bottom, and there are two music tracks that are
turned off. Just turn them on, and you can listen to them while your driving.

After selecting "Start Race", hold indicated buttons until race starts to
activate its corresponding cheat.
-Blurred vision -- Up + L2 + R1
-Dashboard view -- Up + Triangle + X
-Heavy car * -- Left + Square + Circle
-Slow CPU cars ** -- Left + Square + Circle

-Easier Tickets
Enter Pursuit Mode and choose a cop car. When the game starts, hold L1 and press
UP to turn off your sirens. The person running will slow down. When you've
caught up to him, press L1 + UP to turn your sirens back on, then pull him over.

-Fly Police Helicopter
To unlock the helicopter, you must arrest 10 speeders using every police vehicle
in Hot Pursuit mode.
