Abu Dhabi, UAE 20th of November, 2025 - Independent developers Whyknot Studio and world-wide publisher  Red Dunes Games spring into action with the first of many releases - a lovingly created cartoon romp. A pixel-perfect hand-drawn 2D puzzle-platformer Princess of the Water Lilies, which is destined to be loved by gamers of all ages once you enter the joyful, colourful, and alluring world of Princess, the fluffy feline!

"We start the first release from Red Dunes Games with a concept and title close to my heart, being a lover of cats and good old-fashioned cartoon characters going back to the early 80s. Mix the two together with craft and expertise, adding features and essential rudiments, sometimes overlooked, a game challenge, a new concept with a retro feel and our vision is complete -  Princess of the Water Lilies! Are you sitting comfortably?

 

A simple premise is the backdrop to this endearing tale, where living, breathing animals and insects are the starring cast, along with some not-so-pleasant ones! A cat, aptly named Princess, is on a mission to rescue her frog family, complete with a magical collar, which activates a healing mechanism when she purrs. Princess uses it to heal and restore nature as she progresses. Princess faces various bosses while trying to restore and protect the world around her by blending exploration with light action, puzzle-solving and adrenaline-flushing platforming. Explore the conflict between the natural world and human-made artifacts.

 

A gold old-fashioned progression line 

Head scratching and enjoyable frustration!

 

Familiarisation and empathy with the cute Princess 'moggy' is set up from level 1 with intuitive, easy first paw steps throughout this level. Adroit cat-like movements are implemented, many as they would be in real life, and completing the first stage won't expend too much effort - just enjoy the vistas as it's going to get harder! 5 more distinct areas/levels will present themselves with their own visual identity and atmosphere and, of course, challenges and actions! The composition and  layouts of the levels, some very maze-like, are crafted with attention to detail and a hive of activity!

New day nostalgia and progressive gameplay

With all 6 levels the nostalgic hand-drawn presentation of bygone days is adhered to throughout and needless repetitive play is removed to keep the attention span of gamers focused! Like a storybook unfolding, and wanting more,  Princess of the Water Lilies creates a friendly environment and fascination, willing the player onto new and more devious challenges.

 

Action Stations! Where in the World!?

A plethora of actions from floating high in the air catching valuable bonuses to swimming underwater where a bubble air mask will give you oxygen to survive collecting another artefact.  Bounce on mushrooms to collect light baubles, going higher and higher to retrieve the final one that seems out of reach - patience and precise control will grab it!  Interact with frogs, scramble up a laiden moss rocks, snag the twine hanging from a tree and get to the top of the mound!
