The world has changed. An endless ocean stretches in every direction, its surface dotted by the crumbling ruins of those who stayed behind. Machines hum quietly, still performing forgotten tasks, while navigation beacons flicker with weak signals from the past. There, the repurposed and reshaped technology drifts silently, watching and waiting.
Suddenly, after centuries of silence, your systems flicker to life. As the Last Caretaker, your mission remains unchanged: navigate this vast ocean, recover lost knowledge, awaken dormant systems, and safeguard humanity's final hope — human seeds resting deep within the Seed Vaults carrying memories and dreams as they wait patiently for their chance at rebirth among the stars. You are not alone. Some machines whisper forgotten protocols, watching your every step. Fulfill your sacred directive and uncover your meaning.

Key Features of The Last Caretaker:
- Create: Scavenge valuable resources to repair critical systems, upgrade your robotic capabilities, and craft tools essential for maintaining your operational capabilities. Every system you restore and every decision you make defines your purpose.
- Explore: If a place looks explorable — above or below the ocean — it is. Weathered megastructures, decayed platforms, and forgotten stations still cling to purpose. These aren't just set pieces, they're real locations with a history.
- Discover: Every structure contains a narrative thread to the past and fragments of human history. If a place feels like it's hiding a secret, it probably is.
- Nurture: Survival isn't just about food. Human life is shaped by memories. Rebuild them, and you rebuild humanity itself.
- Survive: The ocean is beautiful, but it is not safe. Rogue machines, biomechanical threats, and unknown forces seek to disrupt your mission. Navigate this world at your own pace, as a resource as simple as light can be your weapon and fear a guide to live another day.

The Last Caretaker will be released in Early Access for Windows PC on Steam and the Epic Games Store this fall. A console release will occur at a later date. Future caretakers can wishlist the game now.
