Quake Remaster Adds Officially Licensed Mod Based on Grisly Action Slasher Slave Zero X

In the wicked world of Quake, the Hell planet Stroggos isn't the only place that holds danger. Today, publisher Ziggurat Interactive and developer Poppy Works are deathly excited to announce the release of Episode Enyo, a free and officially licensed Slave Zero X mod for the Quake remaster, available now on PC and consoles.

Set before the events of Slave Zero X, Episode Enyo follows the story of the titular Enyo, an assassin who was originally contracted to kill the SovKhan, Slave Zero X's tyrannical ruler, before being forced to serve him as the Second of the Five Calamities

Known in the Megacity's underworld as "Beloved by the Bullet," Enyo resents the biotechnology embraced by her would-be master and favors the old-world style of firearms and ammunition. Before becoming the Second member of the Five Calamities, the SovKhan's innermost circle of generals, she was a skilled mercenary —  a deadshot tasked with ending him and his tyrannical rule. As players progress through Episode Enyo, they'll uncover how she became beholden to his iron will and forced to serve him in the story of Slave Zero X

Featuring eight new gnarly weapons to wield, eight new original music tracks, and five unique, Quake-exclusive maps modeled after levels from the main game, Episode Enyo gives a blood-tinged taste of what's to come in the dark world of Slave Zero X.

Episode Enyo is a free add-on for owners of the Quake remaster, available to players via Steam and GOG, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S, and PlayStation 4/5. Additional install instructions for PC players are available on the Poppy Works website and on the mod's ModDB and itch.io pages.

In the main game of Slave Zero X, players can expect a satisfyingly punishing side-scrolling hack-and-slash experience as they don a death-dealing biosuit to do battle against the violent forces of the tyrannical SovKhan. Featuring multiple gameplay modes and a variety of futuristic 2.5D dystopian urban levels to battle through, players will string together brutal combos and fight through waves of genetically enhanced biopunk opponents — all to the tune of a gnarly synth soundtrack.

Key Features of Slave Zero™ X include:
  • Different Modes to Mutilate: Play through the story, build your combo-crushing skills in training mode, or test your might in the post-story Bloody Palace mode
  • Hack-n-Slash 'n Slash 'n Slash...: Chain together lethal attack combos with your sword and an array of explosive ordinance while leaping, sprinting, and flipping your way through a grim biopunk world
  • A 2.5D Environment Worthy of H.R. Giger: Battle your way through massive levels and boss-rushes in a lo-fi blend of 2D and 3D art reminiscent of the 90s Dreamcast era.
  • Brutal Battles and Cutthroat Stages: Conquer mini-bosses and climactic arch-villains in unforgettable combat sequences
  • Blood-Soaked and Synth-Soaked: Immerse yourself in a world of heavy Drum 'n Bass and industrial tracks that get more intense as the action heats up
Slave Zero™ X launches February 21, 2024, on PC via Steam and GOG, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4|5, and Xbox One and Xbox Series S|X. You can pre-order the Digital Deluxe and Standard editions today on select platforms.

Slave Zero™ X is available to wishlist on Steam, GOG, and PlayStation and a playable demo is also available now on Steam, GOG, Xbox One, and Xbox Series S|X.
