Safe In Our World to launch Sidekick: The Video Games Mental Health Journal on July 15th
LONDON, UK – July 11, 2023 – Video game mental health charity, Safe In Our World, and Peregrine Coast Press are delighted to announce that Sidekick: The Video Games Mental Health Journal will be launching on July 15th for order from Peregrine Coast Press.
Sidekick was created to provide the gaming community with a physical resource for mental well-being. This fun and interactive journal contains a variety of games-themed activities and prompts, designed to be a low-pressure way to get people thinking about their mental health and engaging with self-care as part of their everyday lives.
In a survey of players who reported being harassed online, one in five felt uncomfortable or upset after playing, one in seven felt isolated or alone, and one in ten had depressive or suicidal thoughts.
"Gaming can be a positive outlet for so many individuals, but things like exposure to online harassment and harmful conduct in gaming spaces can also have a negative impact on people's mental health," said Sky Tunley-Stainton, Partnerships & Training Manager at Safe In Our World.
"By connecting people with the games they love, we hope Sidekick will feel like a familiar friend for folks in the games community who might be in need of the tools and information within to support their mental health."
