Despite being almost four decades old, Hollywood is incapable of coming up with a better story than "veteran with PTSD has problems adjusting to being home", so we're staring down the barrel of Rambo V. These flicks have gotten more and more violent as they've gone on; if you remember First Blood (1982) there was little violence, and most of the movie was more thoughtful and dramatic than Saving Private Rambo, aka Rambo IV. I enjoyed the film quite a bit, but my God... I remember there's one scene where Rambo fires and entire belt of 50 caliber ammunition, then reloads and runs through a second. Grah-tuh-it-ous!

This time around, Rambo is living on a ranch in Arizona, doing odd jobs for money (basically the same as Rambo IV). He works by day, and at night, wrestles with PTSD and struggles to square his dark past (still the same as Rambo IV). When an old family friend named Maria comes to Rambo with a problem (they always do), Rambo is compelled to help her (he's always been a sucker for chicks). Maria's grand daughter crossed into Mexico for a party and never came home (unsurprising). Now, Rambo has to hunt down the young woman (he will), break up a sex ring (that was probably on his to-do list anyways) and kill dozens and dozens of people (also probably on his list). Along the way, he'll team up with a journalist whose half-sister has also been kidnapped, and shoot a bunch of holes in a crime lord running the show.  and must deploy all his skills to save the girls and bring down a vicious crime lord.

Avi Lerner and Kevin King will serve as producers, with Matt Cirulnick penning the screenplay. No director or release date has been announced.
