We just got our first look at an upcoming map for Call of Duty: Black Ops 4’s new battle royale mode, titled Blackout, via a tweet from developer Treyarch, and you can check it out below. While this isn't all that exciting in of itself, you can start looking at this bad boy under a microscope and see if anything is jumping out at you, strategy-wise. It appears that the map has a little of everything, but rivers, mountainous regions and some dense forest, all of which will make for some creative strategy.
We also learned that unlike Fortnite and PUBG, you'll only start out with 79 other players in Blackout, for a total of 80, not 100, but Treyarch said that they'll use Blackout's private beta to possibly tighten and tweak the player count, depending on how the community reacts. In an interview with gameinformer, co-studio head Dan Bunting said that, "We’re starting with 80 players, but we’ve gone higher than that," and that the team will "make changes and adapt".
For their sake, the players better like it, since there is no campaign this time around, only Blackout, Zombies and standard multiplayer. We'll get you more info on COD:BO4 as it becomes available, and we're sure to have a ton more info when the beta hits on Sept. 10.
