Warlock Wireless and Green Man Gaming Publishing wants you to pay attention. They want you to focus, and realize that not only has The Long War update added more maps and battle improvements to Of Kings and Men, but that it will be available for a free trial during the Free Weekend on Steam from the 7th of December to the 11th. And if you really like it, it'll be 66% off during said weekend.

We gave this game a look when it was in early access, and we had some good things to say about it. It wasn't perfect, but the early access was full of fun, chaotic battles where you could slay hundreds of people in far away lands. Obviously, that's pretty awesome in a digital, medieval setting. Now, both new and existing Of Kings And Men players will be able to take part in the biggest multiplayer battles the game has seen in De Re Militari, the strategy layer to Of Kings And Men, as it receives a selection of changes and improvements in its latest update. The Long War update lets players cowardly and awesomely ambush passing armies from enemy clans and throw down on new maps, in addition to sharing troops to include multiple regiments in one army, plus an upkeep system, which requires players to manage finances from their battles to keep their stronghold running.

The update also gives the game a new quest system, encouraging new players to experiment with different weapons and combat styles, and offer experienced players daily challenges to gain additional experience and rewards. More maps have also been added to the Skirmish mode, providing more arenas for players to test their skills in tense multiplayer combat.

Hopefully, these updates will assuage some of the people who felt like the product didn't deliver what was promised. We'll take a look and let you know what we think.
