The Crusader class was revealed in detail today by Visionary Realms, Inc. for the Kickstarter MMO, Pantheon: Rise of the Fallen. The class features familiarity for MMO veterans but also adds a new heightened level to the traditional protective fighter.
From the Kickstarter Crusader Page:
"The Crusader is a powerful knight whose devotion to king or deity is so great that he has been blessed with divine powers. A paragon of virtue, the Crusader commands the battlefield and defends the weak. Brave and bold, the Crusader is always at the front of any fray, guarding his allies against harm with armor and faith."
The Crusader will have options available to both types of players who wish to play either a pure melee-based character, or one that is blessed by their deity to provide them with holy powers. They can dual-wield, use a two handed weapon, or even equip two shields.
"Since we're designing a game that is very group-content oriented where every class was going to be very defined, we knew we needed a hard-core tank," said Salim Grant, Director of Development. "The Crusader fills that role and still allows enough flexibility to the player to give them a choice on how they wish to play the character. They can be a hardened warrior who focuses on martial prowess, or they can turn to a deity and channel the blessing of a god in battle. The role is still very defined but the style of play is up to the player."
Pantheon has currently received nearly $205,000 in support from over 1600 backers and continues to push forward to its $800k goal by February 22nd.
