Introduction
Kurt Angle has had perhaps the most successful beginning
to a career of any World Wrestling Federation® Superstar. Angle's
ascent up the ranks of the Federation has been dizzying, having
already captured the most prestigious titles, culminating with
a win over with a win over The Rock for the WWF Championship.
But his success is no surprise.
Following a successful amateur career, Angle takes himself
very seriously, calling himself the only "real athelete" in the
World Wrestling Federation®. Wheather he is face or heel, you
have to respect the athleticism and spirit of Kurt Angle.
Career Highlights: World Wrestling Federation Champion(2);
Intercontinental Champion; Hardcore Champion; European Champion;
WCW U.S. Champion; King of the Ring 2000; Olympic Gold Medalist;
Inductee into the Amateur Wrestling Hall of Fame
Biography
Kurt Angle first opened the eyes of the world with his gold-medal
performance at the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta. The Pittsburgh
native made his country proud, winning the 220-pound freestyle wrestling
competition, and the extraordinarily proud Angle surely won't let anyone
forget about it!
Angle takes himself very seriously, calling himself the only "real athlete"
in the World Wrestling Federation. When the crowd is not behind him, Kurt
wonders how anyone could boo an Olympic gold medallist.
The year 2000 -- Angle's rookie year in the Federation --
was arguably the best year for any Superstar in the Federation's
history. After first winning the European and Intercontinental Titles,
Kurt then proceeded to win the 2000 edition of the King of the Ring
Tournament. The capper of his Y2K, however, was when the American Hero
captured the WWF Championship after defeating The Rock at No Mercy
on Nov. 22, 2000.
At Survivor Series 2001, Kurt Angle, who was working as a mole
in the Alliance for Mr. McMahon's World Wrestling Federation,
turned on Stone Cold Steve Austin and helped the Federation defeat
Shane and Stephanie's Team Alliance.
Since the Survivor Series, Angle has thought that his fellow
Federation members owe him their jobs, seeing as he was the
one that saved the Federation.
