After the failure of Call of Duty: Vanguard, the game of 2021, Activision put a lot of pressure on Modern Warfare II, the sequel to the excellent reboot of the series by the studio Infinity Ward. And the team lived up to expectations because, according to the company, the game became an unprecedented phenomenon during its first available weekend.
Treyarch, the studio behind Call of Duty: Black Ops and Zombies modes, announced the fate of Modern Warfare 2's ranked play. Official information as of November 2 states that the new Call of Duty game will feature a range of modes and other features. This includes ranked play, which will begin in 2023. Along with making free sports picks, bettors can make Call of Duty eSports picks, as well.
Modern Warfare Changes the Game
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 was launched officially on October 28th. It was a big hit with players who loved its visual style and storytelling. It includes the campaign and special operations categories as well as all the new multiplayer modes. To access ranked play, however, players must wait until 2023.
Competitive players have demanded ranked play. This was not possible in previous Modern Warfare games. Modern Warfare 2 is set to promote competitive play and recognize outstanding efforts with rank or skill ratings.
Ranked Play will include the following features as a result of the work Treyarch accomplished with Activision and Infinity Ward:
Ranked Skill Divisions
Visible Skill Ratings
Top 250 Leaderboard
The Modern Warfare 2 Season 1 Update will launch the Call of Duty League (CDL). Moshpit will be available to users while they wait for the competitive modes to launch. This playlist will include league maps. Players can enjoy Moshpit, as they can with other playlists, until ranked play launches.
Breaking The Mold
After only a week on the market, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 broke a new sales record. The legendary first-person war franchise managed to exceed a collection of $800 million between the sale of the different editions and the microtransactions acquired by the players. As a result, it became the title of the series with the largest launch in history.
To understand the dimension of the success it is generating, the video game surpassed the previous mark of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III, the end of the original trilogy of 2011. It grossed $775 million in its first five days. It also surpassed the impact of the releases of Top Gun: Maverick and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness combined.
The results Modern Warfare II obtained after only its first weekend of sales won’t come as a surprise to gamers. The new Call of Duty was criticized for its short main story, which is something that is common in the franchise. However, the rest of the movie has been highly praised.
Everything is improved, from the plot and gameplay to the graphic section or the acting. The missions set in Mexico are renowned for their excellent visual quality and outstanding voice acting.
Modern Warfare II Continues Run of Success
Modern Warfare II multiplayer is a different case. It has been long criticized. Its maps are poorly designed, as well as the lack of progression, poor graphics, and bug-ridden performance. While many of these issues will be fixed with updates, users are not slow to voice their dissatisfaction on social media.
Activision Blizzard stated that, despite its recent Call of Duty debut, there are still many things to learn in 2022. This is especially true when Warzone 2.0 launches on November 16.
Treyarch has confirmed that Black Ops Cold War League Play and Vanguard Ranked Play will be discontinued by the end of November. The last chance for players to claim the prizes in these modes is November 22.
Treyarch hasn't yet announced a release date or time, but it is expected that the ranked title will be made available to Modern Warfare 2 sometime in 2023, right before the CDL. In December, the competition, which pits 12 teams against each in a hostile arena, will begin.
